CH52 True Na
***
Na has power.
It was a saying well-known in Alex’s past life—and just as true in this one.
A na is a unique identity that validates a person, creature, object, or even an abstract concept’s existence within the world.
It is the thread that binds an entity to its world... its reality.
And nowhere is this more true than with a True Na.
’Ordinary’ nas are usually given to a being or entity by others. They can be arbitrary, whimsical, or symbolic—sotis entirely unrelated to the one who bears them. Yet, they gain power through the shared recognition of both the individual and those around them.
True Nas, however, are different.
They are not given by others.
They are nas revealed through mutual acknowledgent—between the world and the self.
A True Na is the distilled essence of a being’s identity, the taphysical core of who and what they are. It is not sothing one chooses, but sothing one uncovers.
Many people can share the sa ordinary na. But a True Na?
A True Na is singular.
It is tiless—older than birth, and unchanging through fate.
It possesses power because it directs how a being’s essence manifests in the world. It shapes their strengths, aligns with their talents, and even governs their destiny.
But just as a True Na grants power, it also exposes vulnerability. It is the unshielded path to a being’s innermost truth—their heart laid bare.
To know a being’s True Na is to gain insight into their deepest nature.
It can be their most potent weapon... or their greatest weakness.
As such, a True Na is often known only to the individual—and to the World that grants it.
Those born with powerful bloodlines have an advantage when it cos to manifesting their True Na.
This is because bloodlines are inherently acknowledged by the World. That’s what makes them heritable—passed down from one generation to the next. Any bloodline inheritor who earns the recognition of their lineage will, by extension, also earn the World’s recognition. That acknowledgnt allows a True Na to erge—one that links the bloodline’s identity to the individual’s unique essence.
Alex had walked that path.
From the mont he awakened his dual bloodlines, to the intense trials he’d undergone refining them—first with Dragon Blood, and then with the sacred Stalactite Milk—he had earned that recognition.
From his achievents in Rune-Tech, to his rapid developnt in magic and unique postnatal talents, he had proven himself.
And now, the World was answering.
Both his Furor bloodline altar and the altar belonging to his mysterious maternal bloodline had begun to shift—ancient, arcane script forming on their surfaces.
His True Na was beginning to manifest.
But there was a clear difference.
On the Furor altar, the script was blurred—partially hidden from his perception, as though it were not yet fully earned.
But on the altar of his maternal bloodline, the True Na was clear—etched in glowing letters in a script he had never seen before.
Yet he understood it.
Not through study or knowledge, but on an intrinsic, instinctual level. The mont he looked at it, he knew.
A surge of information flooded into his mind.
More than just a na—it carried knowledge.
Details about the True Na itself... and the nature of the bloodline from which it was born.
Its na was Auramir—aning Sun Wolf, nad after the progenitor of the line.
The first Auramir was not just a wolf, but a transcendent—a being who transcended his species’ limitations to beco sothing greater.
A transcendent wolf.
The Sun Wolf.
But while power had elevated him, his heart remained bound to the old instincts of the pack. To be the only one of his kind was... painful.
And so, as he rose beyond the limits of the wolf, he chose also to rise beyond its nature.
Unlike other wolves who only had one partner throughout their life, Auramir chose to take on many partners across many species, determined to ensure his legacy would not fade with him. Through his bloodline, the Sun Wolf would live on.
-
Alex was one of many across the myriad planes to inherit the bloodline of Auramir.
’So, the phantom I saw... that was Auramir—the Sun Wolf, huh?’ Alex mused. ’I should see if I can dig up any records on him when I return to the Enclave.’
He set the matter aside for now and refocused on what truly mattered—his True Na.
He now understood the na carved into the altar.
Solmir, the Sun Wolf King.
It wasn’t just a na. It was a mantle—a conceptual identity. And it ca with power.
According to the knowledge bestowed through the bloodline altar, Auramir had been a transcendent being—a monarch among beasts, a ruler of planes. He held absolute dominion over wolves and commanded elental forces, particularly Fire and Light, which he had fused into a higher elental force: Solar energy.
Of all those aspects, the one Alex felt closest to—the one that resonated—was elental dominion.
He possessed the Elental Affinity Enhancent talent, after all. His control over his four elental energies -Fire, Light, Lightening and Darkness- was already impressive.
Now, through the Dominion aspect embedded in his True Na, he could take that control even further—beyond limits he had previously imagined.
As for the other facets of the Dominion concept—commanding wolves or ruling over planes—Alex was less confident.
He was neither a beast nor a ruler. And frankly, he had no desire to beco either.
’Even in this life, I still lack ambition,’ he sighed, as old, uncomfortable mories surfaced.
He turned, ready to leave the Bloodline Space.
But then he saw sothing—sothing he had missed before.
Floating above the bloodline pool between the two altars... was a script.
Not just any script.
Runes.
A runic script—shimring, half-ford—hung suspended in the air.
Alex froze.
He had never heard of a True Na manifesting as Runes.
Then, another surge of information surged through his mind.
It seed his achievents in Rune-Tech had been acknowledged by the World itself.
And in recognition of that, he had been granted a unique honour: the opportunity to inscribe his True Na in Runes—the very system he had chosen to forge his path.
It wasn’t a gift. Not yet.
It was a possibility.
A promise.
Alex still had to earn it—work for it—but the re existence of the opportunity was a profound validation of the path he had taken.
Even in its nascent form, the manifested runic presence enhanced his intuition toward Runes, Rune Circles, and all related applications.
The improvent was slight—perhaps only 5%—but Alex knew better than to dismiss it.
In the complex world of Runes, even a 1% increase in comprehension could be the deciding factor in forming, activating, or stabilising an advanced formation.
And the 5%?
It was rely the beginning.
A seed of promise.
One that would grow—so long as Alex continued down the path he had chosen to walk.
With a calm breath, Alex withdrew from the Bloodline Space, and his consciousness returned to his body within the Dragon Lair.
He flexed his fingers and glanced at the ’watch’ etched onto the back of his left palm.
Three full days had passed.
All of it spent on uncovering the opportunities promised by golden Mana signature.
Far less than he had expected—but it also ant he was cutting it close.
His ti here was almost up.
Which ant there was only one thing left to do.
"This has been a sufficient growth arc," Alex muttered. "I doubt there’s anything left for to gain in this Subspace. It’s ti to head back."
He turned, eyes gleaming with quiet focus.
"Hopefully, I’ll be able to get my hands on a suitable test subject before I reach the portal."
