The carriages in this region, moving from on place to another were usually in pairs or threes.

The reason for this was clearly safety issues. This way, the carriages could back each other up in case of an ergency or of course, bandits on the roads.

such attacks mostly happened in between towns and city areas. But these days since the War started between the old beast Kingdom and the new beast kingdom, it had been happening even close to the border area.

Beast people were part core beasts. Which ant that they inevitably inherited certain attributes from their beast counterparts. one of which was the ability to produce a lot of children.

This easily made over population one of the biggest problems of the Beasts kingdom. And with over population ca high poverty rate, which in turn created high cri rates.

However, the war on both sides had ensured that that suffering had increased greatly.

It was for this reason that even Hadi did not mind sacrificing his people to the Holy Church, making the quota that they demanded for.

It was basically, necessary human trafficking. At least, that was what he called it.

As the little girl snuggled up to his chest area, and deep into sleep, Dylan suddenly felt danger.

After following Chiron, he had been plunged into war and conflict again and again, and by now, he had developed a good sense for danger.

*BOOM!* It happened.

Their entire carriage was ramd hard at the side, tumbling the carriage upside down.

The Wooden carriage smashed imdiately as the remaining of it tumbled on itself. Dylan was only barely able to activate his spiritual energy to form a barricade around his body.

Luckily, his quick thinking helped to cushion most of the impact.

Rising slowly to his feet, he could see that two more carriages behind had also been attacked.

This was a raid done by bandits. They attacked with incredible brute force. what had ramd into the carriage was actually a Rhino-man.

All around them, they were bandits, dressed in rough black clothes. They were a mixture of Beast n, with most of them being Rat-n.

Instinctively, Dylan wanted to fight, but reaching to his side, he rembered that he did not co with his sword.

Chiron had given very specific instruction about engaging in violence.

In fact, he told them to flee in case they were attacked and not show their powers. Although there was another secret weapon, this was not the ti.

After all, they were humans in secret, and the masking on their bodies was very temporary. Using their spiritual energy any how, especially in battle was only going to reveal their true identity.

Dylan was a middle stone ranked cultivator. His ti with Chiron, although very short, had helped him to see incredible growth. Chiron had fed them the spirit herb mixtures before the attack on the Chanland kingdom which in turn improved everyone’s cultivation.

In truth, he had probably had the most improvent. After all, he had an S-grade dantain.

His incredible growth had always been set in stone.

Most of these bandits that attacked were Yellow cored, with three of them, including the Rhino man that knocked the carriage down being green cores.

Only the most capable of chiron’s army had been given this mission. This ant that Dylan and the n that had been put under his command could easily take out this bandit group, but to do that would firstly an to disobey Chiron’s orders and secondly, it would risk the exposure of their identity.

Humans in a Beast country would not be a funny thing. They were many beast people that humans just as much as humans hated them.

This ant that they would be hunted down and killed imdiately.

But at the sa ti, Dylan could not help it. The Bandits were not just stealing. No! they were massacring the people.

And they did so with smiles on their faces.

Killing and plundering.

the sreams of the victims as they were forced into a world of pain filled his ears and he could not help but have a bit of a flash back.

it was about his ti in the orphanage. He and Deamon were very little then, and those privilege kids of the town were picking on a little boy. He was also from the orphanage.

At the ti, he had Deamon had hid under the field hay stack because of fear. However, they had watched through peep holes and the boy was kicked and punched for being motherless and fatherless.

He rembered the screams and he rembered how it had all made him feel.

Right now, he was getting that sa feeling. Instinctively, he wanted to act and he balled his fist into a punch. After all, he was confident that he alone could take up all of them.

However, just when he was about to, a hand grabbed him by the wrist. He turned to his side. It was one of the mbers of his team for this mission.

This man, although older than Dylan, was kept as his second in command. He was a more experienced fighter than Dylan but unfortunately had lower cultivation.

His na was Banda.

Banda shook his head at Dylan gently as he stared deep into Dylan’s eyes.

Dylan understood and held back.

"leave it for the guards assigned to the carriages. We must leave this place. Prince Chiron gave us particular orders." Banda advised.

Dylan looked in a particular direction. Indeed, the battle had began with the guards. Although sothing about that battle did not seem right, he had no ti to think about it right now.

He nodded, and with particular hand signs to the others, they moved, quick as sound.

"HEY!" the bandits scread at their retreating figures.

but they were quick, and with their cultivation, if they desired to escape, then they was no way that these Bandits were going to pursue and catch them.

of course, that did not an that they did not try, but it was fruitless. In a few more minutes, they had gone deep into the forest area.

Because it was night ti, it was even easier to mask their presence.

After a while of running, they stopped at a particular location. Banda did a quick head count of the n. Everyone was present and accounted for.

They reviewed the plans for the next phase of the assignnt and then they all went to sleep.

However, deep within the night, Dylan’s eyes shut open. And while he sneaked out of the temporarily made camp, Banda watched him from within the darkness as Dylan placed his hoodie and rushed into the night.

The truth was that Dylan could not sleep. Every ti he tried to close his eyes, he would rember the screams of that boy when he was little, overlapping with that of the victims of the bandits.

those screams, filled with pain and a cry for help did not give him peace.

He couldn’t hold it back. It was not in his nature to do so.

Only one of the Twin moons shone full in the sky, while the other was a half moon.

However, the night was still clear enough for him to transverse.

Then again, his kind of Dantain was special. The more difficult the challenge was, the stronger he beca.

As long as he was willing to push forward, he would only get stronger.

Pushing himself as hard as he could, he finally got to the crash site.

Just as one would expect, the place was a total ss. Broken wheels her and there. Broken wood here and there, and also broken and torn out limbs scattered here and there.

It had only been a few hours, but the sll of blood still lingered like a faint but strong perfu in the air.

he walked about the wreckage having mixed feelings in his heart.

Corpses could still be seen all around. A head here and innards there.

The sight of it all made him sigh in regret. After all, he had been capable of doing sothing, but he had done done nothing. Right now, he was questioning the decision he made.

After all, their mission to these place was to end all these lives. Either ways, it would have all ended. However, he could not help but think maybe the death that Chiron had proclaid would have been easier and peaceful.

At the sa ti, he was very conflicted. After all, he had now co in contact with death in war, and even when they had battled the Chanland people, he had wondered if they were doing the right thing.

Of course, it was easy to just put the bla on Chiron and that fact that he was fighting for the peace of his people and country.

After all, if he did not fight, those he left back ho would be hurt.

However, this ti around, it was different. They were not fighting a people with the intension of invading their lands. They were killing a people because Chiron was pissed at the fact that his sister had been touched.

Could one life really be given for all of the others?

As these questions circled in his head, he found himself arriving at the Carriage that had carried him.

It was at this mont that he realized sothing. There was no corpse of that little girl. This could only an one thing she was still alive.

Stirred in his soul by this thought, he turned in a particular direction and dashed into the forest...
