Waking up early the next morning, the night still present and heavy around , I imdiately began mind breathing, training for more than two hours before finally getting ready for school.

After I was done consulting Chiara and given a ti fra by the councillor, she had departed. Denise soon followed her afterwards, though only after a lot of convincing from . I gave her promises and proofs, even having to employ so lies with the system’s help.

"Where is Nadia?" I asked.

"She got the flu," Wanda replied.

"She was okay when last I saw her."

"I guess it happened overnight," Wanda said. "She was in a hurry but promised to be back before this morning."

"Try calling her line."

After a cold bath, I was dressed and ready to head out, but so far, I hadn’t seen my PA.

"It’s not going through."

I cocked my head slightly, but before I could speak, the door to our new location opened.

Nadia stepped in, putting on a thick brown coat, her hair covered with a head warr and a mask on her face. Seeing us, she quickly walked over to .

"Good morning, sir."

The usual young, energetic voice of my assistant was now replaced with one that sounded gruff and forced.

"Good morning," I replied. "Been to the hospital?"

"Yes, they did a few tests and gave so drugs."

I raised my hands toward her and she stepped back imdiately.

"I’m infectious right now. You could get sick."

Being warned of an infection had rembering that since my encounter with Psion, I was yet to fall ill.

"Maybe I have so sort of immune boost," I told myself.

Not looking to test my invincibility though, I nodded to Nadia and, after questioning her a bit more on her visit to the hospital, exited the room and made my way to Spaulding High School.

"Wanda, stay with Nadia and make sure she is well taken care of, okay."

"Yes, sir."

"If you feel sothing is wrong, irrespective of what she says, call the doctor."

"Yes, sir."

I left so more instructions for my driver given the current situation, then left the car, traversing the parking space at the top of the building.

5:10 a.m.

The light from the absent sun had made its way through the skies to the city, illuminating so of the darkness and giving a manageable view of my surroundings. I found the door to the school open and, stepping in, used Echo for the third ti that morning.

I had initially been debating stepping into one of the classrooms, but with the information submitted to my head, I changed my destination and soon ended up standing in front of a familiar door.

Knock.

Knock.

There was a delay from the other side before I was told to co in. As I entered the room, I imdiately laid my eyes on Mirah.

"Marcus, you’re here quite early," Mirah said as we stared at each other.

"Yeah," I replied. "You look pretty this morning."

Mirah staunched her face and shook her head at my complint.

"No. That is not allowed," the nun shut down firmly.

"I dreamt of you last night."

Silence suddenly descended in the room. Mirah’s lips sealed shut, and my desire was laid bare in my gaze.

Echo!

"Our kiss yesterday evening—did you like it?"

"It’s wrong."

"I’m asking if you liked it. Don’t lie. I want to believe I can trust you."

"Yes, I did," the woman admitted, standing up.

It was obvious she was getting ready to make matters straight between us, but while she did not know it, I knew that for she had already carved out a wide space in her heart.

"We also kissed in my dream."

Her lips wanted to purse, but she quickly caught herself and changed her reply.

"Are you sure?"

"Well, we didn’t kiss, but that was only because of a certain disturbance."

"Marcus, what are you doing?"

I walked around the desk, coming closer to Mirah, who left her chair and backed several steps away.

"After I kissed you last night, I felt disgusted and ashad of myself. I thought I was condemned. But then I had the dream, and the truth was revealed to ..."

"What truth?"

I stretched out my hand.

Mirah’s gaze went to it, then back to , conflict written clearly on her face.

"Marcus, you’re putting in a tight position."

"Follow your heart. It’s the core of your purity."

I could imagine how Mirah was feeling at that mont. She had pulled into a dream, looking to fish out answers and the truth, but things had instead backfired.

Rather than alienate herself from , unaware that we had both been lucid, she entrenched herself deeper into my fra. She saw the beauty of , saw my honesty, and now she was placed on the spot, her desires pushed to the forefront.

"Don’t let your fears destroy what could be."

They weren’t fears, but rather obligations and principles. Still, Mirah was not in the right senses to understand that, and she placed her right hand on mine.

I gently pulled her close, my arms going around her waist and pressing her to . Then I placed my cards on the table, going all in, and rged our lips.

The heavens knew how much risk I was taking at that mont—how Denise would lock up forever if she knew what I was doing—but I believed I had enough odds in my favour.

I felt Mirah’s full, soft lips once more. I pressed mine to hers for several seconds, then my lips began to move. First sucking her upper and bottom lips, my right hand moved down from her waist, my spread palm going over her rear before I grabbed a handful of it.

Mirah trembled in my grasp, her eyes flickering open with vulnerability, her body weak in my hold.

The woman might be a saint, but after my talk with Denise the previous night, I understood that she had not been sublid with faith energy. Whatever faith energy Mirah attracted did not stay within her—it was being siphoned sowhere else. That ant that after a night of sleep, until her dear students ca around and directly adored her, supplying fresh faith energy, she was lamb for slaughter.

"Open your mouth."

"What’s that?" the mature woman asked innocently, her gaze fixed on my thumb, which sparkled with a liquid on it.

"Sothing that would make you feel much better."
