Ning Shu drank her at broth and looked at Spear Ban, who had an impatient expression that seed to contain so sort of disgust as well.

She felt that i Ziqing’s weapons knew i Ziqing’s entrustor liked Spear Ban.

Apparently, Spear Ban viewed that as a disgrace.

i Ziqing said calmly, “Naturally, I have my reasons. You are my weapons. Wherever I go, you should go. Do you have a problem with that?”

Spear Ban’s expression froze. He turned and left, his expression dark, walking toward the other four weapons.

Ning Shu held her bowl and said to i Ziqing, “Now I get what’s up with your entrustor’s weapons.”

“They’ve been spoiled. They have no need to worry about food or clothing; they only ever need to deliver the final blow in a hunt, and on top of that, get paid really well. They enjoy this kind of lifestyle yet still want dignity and freedom.”

“But once they actually have to fight to earn their pride as weapons, they start complaining—so pretentious.”

They decided on the life of a kept man but still demanded a real man’s dignity.

i Ziqing gave an “oh” and didn’t say anything.

Ning Shu drank her soup and glanced at i Ziqing’s wrist. The red mark was now more pronounced, looking like a red string bracelet.

It looked sowhat familiar.

Ning Shu’s eyes whirled, and she asked, “That’s a love’s thread, right?”

Ning Shu pointed at i Ziqing’s wrist.

i Ziqing covered her wrist with her sleeve and nodded. “It is.”

Love’s thread was an item that could make two people fall in love. If they were in the sa plane, the thread would give off guidance—and the closer they were to each other, the warr it would get.

So task-taker couples, to express their devotion, would wear the thread after falling in love.

Only when one person dies and a thread breaks does the item lose its effect.

It serves as both a love token—one red string per person, beautiful and romantic—and a locator, allowing the ability to locate other person if they’re on the sa plane.

Wearing it was basically a promise, like being handcuffed together. As long as they lived, they would be there for each other through thick and thin.

Back then, Zhang Jiashen had tried to trick her into wearing one.

Seems like in this world, i Ziqing and she weren’t the only ones here. There was another task-taker with a strong connection to i Ziqing.

Possibly a lover.

Ning Shu said, “We’re companions now. You have to tell what might happen next—otherwise I’m leaving.”

Ning Shu stood up. i Ziqing reached out and grabbed her wrist, and Ning Shu sat back down with the motion.

“As you’ve noticed, there’s another task-taker in this world. He’s my lover—or more accurately, my ex-boyfriend,” i Ziqing said.

Ning Shu: →_→

She’d never heard that i Ziqing had a boyfriend. She didn’t look like soone who was heartbroken either.

The sudden reveal that there had been a boyfriend caught Ning Shu off guard.

She quickly asked, “Did he cheat? Want to back you up and give him a lesson?”

i Ziqing sighed. “I’d rather he cheated than see him like this.”

Ning Shu fell silent and waited for i Ziqing to continue.

“You’re not going to ask what happened to him?”

“Oh. What happened to him?”

i Ziqing touched her wrist. “He’s gone crazy. I don’t even know when he beca like that. He’s now completely insane.”

“What did he do?” Ning Shu asked.

“He wants to change the heavens—to rge with the Heavenly Dao,” i Ziqing said.

Ning Shu: ???

That sounded pretty impressive.
