[3] It’s common for serving girls to be given thed nas. These girls are both nad after flowers: YuLan’s na ans magnolia and ShuiXian ans daffodil.
[4] Jie, Jiejie, or Da Jie an older sister. Blood relationship unnecessary, and here, unlikely.
[5] I’m really not sure about this last one. The first part is a phrase from the Book of Rites (a classic Confucian text), and the second part refers to a well-known encyclopedic dictionary. If I later find out what this is supposed to be, I’ll let y’all know.
