"Lucas... I’m fine."
He moved carefully, almost afraid to touch her.
Monts ago, without knowing she was injured, he had gripped her too hard—hard enough to reopen her stitches.
Lucas shut his eyes.
"I’m sorry... I failed to protect you."
Sophia’s eyes softened.
She placed a hand on his head.
"I’ve got a stubborn life. Heaven isn’t ready to take yet."
"It must hurt."
"It doesn’t. I’m too relieved to feel pain right now. I was right about everything. This ti, I’m dragging the entire Morgan family straight to hell. Forever. No chance of coming back. This ga? I’ve been the one controlling it. Now... I choose to end it."
She tried to pull Lucas up, but he didn’t budge.
"I’m sorry," she murmured. "I should’ve told you I was safe. But Uncle Gordon ca just in ti."
Marcus had returned to the country the day of her accident.
Sophia had sent him her location, hoping to et briefly—and he arrived at the exact mont the crash happened.
He imdiately rescued Sophia and the driver, Jaxon.
Barely minutes later... the car exploded.
Everything else was destroyed.
Marcus also erased every trace of their escape.
"Uncle Gordon? Marcus?"
"Yes. He ca back to help ."
Sophia cupped Lucas’s face.
"It’s only been a few days, and look at you. Unshaven. A ss."
She struggled to her feet and walked toward the bathroom.
"Co here."
Lucas didn’t want her to move.
Sophia gave him a playful glare.
"Don’t argue."
She began shaving his beard for him.
Suddenly—
Knock, knock, knock—
Sophia’s hand trembled.
The razor slipped—Lucas inhaled sharply as a small cut opened on his jaw.
"Lucas!"
"It’s fine."
Once she cleaned the cut, they both noticed Mrs. Wilson standing anxiously at the door.
"Sophia, young master... Aiden is here again. And he looks furious."
"Aiden?"
The two exchanged a look, imdiately understanding each other’s thoughts.
Downstairs—
Aiden greeted her with a wide smile.
"Sophia! So it’s true. You’re alive. Congratulations!"
"Then I should thank you for coming to see ."
"Oh no, no need."
Sophia’s eyes slid to the lawyer standing beside him.
She smirked.
"Uncle, I doubt you ca here just to check on ."
Aiden let out a low chuckle, glancing at the people he brought.
"Actually, I ca because of what I heard Andrew say at the hotel today. You two... had a fake marriage? I’m not accusing you. But considering the original will... I believe it should be re-evaluated."
Exactly as expected—he had picked up Andrew’s insinuations and now wanted to revisit the inheritance.
"Uncle," Sophia said coolly, "I explained everything today. Andrew didn’t know what he was talking about and sared out of confusion. If he wants to act stupid, must you follow him?"
Julia burst out angrily, "You rude little brat! How do you talk to elders?!"
Sophia replied lazily, "Are your ears failing? Should I speak louder? If you’re sick, go get it treated."
"You—!"
"Andrew is my biological father. You all saw what happened to him today. Do you really want the sa ending? I don’t repeat myself. People’s patience has limits."
Sophia wasn’t afraid at all.
They wanted trouble because—
And now they thought they could overturn the will.
"You don’t get to threaten us," Julia snapped. "There was never a real marriage between you two. So we do have the right to redistribute the old man’s will!"
"Redistribute the inheritance? And you think you qualify?"
Lucas imdiately pulled Sophia behind him, staring coldly at the people in front of him.
"Richard may be young, but at least he understands more than the two of you old fossils. Say whatever you want about whether he married Jessica—at least he’s smart enough to stay out of my sight."
Lucas glanced toward the parked cars.
Richard was sitting inside, very much present—but he didn’t get out.
He never cared much about money anyway.
He had food, clothes, comfort—everything he needed.
He had never known deprivation, so he had no desire for the fight.
Aiden turned back, scowling.
That useless kid!
"Lucas, I’m completely serious. I brought the lawyer with today to settle this matter."
"Oh? Settle it?" Lucas said casually.
He pulled out the marriage certificate.
"The certificate is right here. Take a good look. If you still don’t believe it, feel free to ask the civil office yourself. And for the record—Grandfather never required legal registration in his will. We had a wedding. That alone fulfills the terms. You’re lucky I’m even letting you look at this for free. But if you insist on clinging to this nonsense...I don’t mind clearing out a few more parasites from the company."
He smiled faintly, watching Aiden’s face twist with panic.
Then Lucas leaned in slightly, voice dropping to a lazy, lethal whisper:
"And even if I were lying... what exactly could you do? Don’t forget—every ounce of authority in Hilton Group belongs to , Lucas Hilton. If I want to remove the rot—I will. Including you."
He straightened and flicked a cold glance at the lawyer standing behind Aiden.
"And if anyone else feels like ddling...my n can have a little ’conversation’ with you."
The thirty-sothing lawyer swallowed hard and lowered his head.
Aiden’s entire visit was a complete failure.
And up close, he finally confird it—
Sophia was perfectly fine.
Before they could leave, several cars pulled up outside the villa.
Harper and William got out first.
Then more familiar faces appeared.
"Sophia!"
William strode forward, about to pull her into a hug—
But Lucas blocked him instantly, fast as lightning.
If William actually collided into her injured body, it would’ve been disastrous.
"What do you think you’re doing?" Lucas asked icily.
"Move," William said, just as cold.
Lucas’s stare grew even frostier.
"She. Is. My. Wife."
William’s hands clenched, knuckles white—but he held back.
Harper, anwhile, looked pitiful, arms open wide—but she didn’t dare rush in.
She simply held out her hands.
Sophia’s eyes softened.
She walked over and hugged Harper tightly.
"Thank God you’re okay!"
"Don’t cry."
"Wuu... I even told myself, if you didn’t co back, I was going to seduce Lucas and beco the mother of the six kids!"
Sophia’s smile froze.
Harper sighed dramatically.
"Forget it. Looks like destiny won’t let rise to fa in one leap."
"Harper."
"Hm?"
"You’re provoking ."
Sophia pinched the soft flesh at her waist.
Harper yelped and jumped back.
Suddenly—
Bang!
Harper bumped into soone behind her.
She turned—and when she saw Marcus, her face instantly flushed bright red.
"U-Uncle Gordon!"
