Sharon’s POV—
I have never thought anything would happen like this. ’Corruption’ is sothing that makes re-think everything I know. What type of world is this? My novel... I didn’t know what type of manifestation it had gone but whatever it is... I was unsure about it. Do I even anything know about this world? Events have gone like the way I have predicted it to be... but I am wrong. The events had occurred in a similar fashion to my novel. A ’detour,’ if I take it into the account. This detour makes question everything. Why are the heroines behaving different? Maria, Kaerin, Suroralia and Pristine... I think... Aerila may behave in similar fashion overti. That day... why did I even have to go out? Why did I want to et Aerila? It was pure foolishness. She wouldn’t welco with a bouquet of flowers. She hated ... to be honest, despised . She despised my very presence. No, the question that I should ask first is about the system. Why was it dormant? Why did it never say anything about it at all? What was its objective?
’System?’
The sa as before. After dropping the bomb, it has turned completely silent. Should I believe it? I don’t know. No, I shouldn’t believe it. What even makes think that I will believe it? Everything is shrouded in blankets of mystery that makes skin crawl in fear. ’Uncertainty’ is what that fears . The future seems bleak as if it will tear apart itself, leaving nothing but void in its place.
[Sharon! I am back.]
I stopped mopping the floor and closed my eyes.
’Where have you been?’
[I-I c-can’t answer... you now. But I will tell you in the future.]
’Future... you say. Fuck it! Fuck you! Fuck everything! Tell one thing... and I need you to be honest. My novel... what makes you even think this world is its manifestation? I want the truth.’
[... I can’t...]
The system’s voice was full of hesitation. My eyes snapped open in anger.
’You know... these past days have been a bit confusing for . And here you are... as usual, as always, lying to . I don’t even know what do you want from . Your words are shams, just to delude into accepting your words as the truth.’
[I am not... lying to you. There are so things that you need to understand.]
’Argh! Again, with your lies! I think all you can do is lie, right? I am now certain that lying to makes you feel great.’
[You don’t understand... I...]
’What is ’corruption?’ I believe that I deserve this to know. You said that my body is already started to get corrupted, right? So, tell .’
[I...]
’Tell .’
[Sharon, please...]
’TELL !’
I scread ntally. My state of mind is already bad. Anger has overpowered hunger. I am losing control of myself. It was matter of ti before I had snapped at him.
[... I... okay. I will tell you... corruption ans your body... or your being is filled with unwanted elents.]
’What elents?’
[It could be anything... like soone’s essence, or mana... anything could be possible.]
’The vines are corrupting ? How long do I have?’
[The problem is... it doesn’t work like that.]
’So, how does it work? I don’t think that I want you to move in circles. I want a crisp and clear answer.’
[I don’t know...]
I sighed in annoyance. ’I don’t know,’ this sentence is always in its every answer. Most of the ti, it just lies. No, everything is just a lie.
’I don’t trust you.’
My words held a conviction to it. I can’t trust soone who lies to constantly. It’s making feel nauseous.
[What!]
’I will repeat myself if you can’t hear . I don’t trust you. The mont you t... you were already suspicious. Your talks held... nothing but the desire to create confusion for . You said that you were on my side, right?’
[I did!]
’Why? Why are you on my side? No, before that. What my side is even?’
[What type of question is this?! You are just making confuse!]
’I am confusing you? You are making confused from the start! Everything is confusing! I have ignored everything till now... but I can’t, not anymore. I want answers. You will give answers, whether you like it or not.’
This system... is just fooling . It doesn’t want to answer my questions.
[I will not.]
This ti it was my turn to be confused.
’What are you saying?’
[I won’t answer you. If you think that you can force to answer your questions then, you are wrong.]
I sneered inside my mind. Its words were full of sarcasm. I have made it angry. It seems it is going to drop his pretence.
’Are you going to drop it? You will not answer , and I know that. But why? What’s making you think that I won’t be able to handle it?’
[You are annoying, you know that, don’t you?]
’Annoying? I know... but I am not a certified liar like you.’
[You!]
’Drop it! Just drop all your tricks. Stop pretending that you care about . I will not like, but you did for fool for a mont. Your words seed so sincere, that it kind of seduced into understanding. Yet, I should tell you... I know, you don’t care and that’s a fact. You have so hidden agenda.’
[No, no, no. I care about you. In your heart, you know that.]
’Do I know? I don’t. Just stop it. Everything is suspicious. Your actions, my actions... everyone’s actions are suspicious. So, let’s stop this charade and face it.’
[... I didn’t think it would co to this. Fuck you! It was kind of interesting to have you fooled up to this mont.]
Its words were cold, devoid of any emotions.
’I guess, you are showing your true colours, aren’t you?’
[Tch! True colours? I was like this from the very beginning. It’s you, who don’t know this.]
’What do I don’t know?’
[Fuck you! You should be grateful to .]
’For what? For a chance? I didn’t even need it.’
[Hahaha... you believe it? You don’t even believe that yourself.]
I am surprised by its words. It tried to fool twice, and it did succeed both the tis. But this ti... I refuse.
’You fooled twice? If you had asserted like you did previously, I would have believed you.’
[You are gullible creature. Idiocy is the root of your personality. I am not surprised at all. You were always an idiot.]
Before I could refute him, I heard Celle’s voice. Fuck! I will handle it later.
[No need to handle . I will see... er, talk to you... two days later. Until then, enjoy.]
That bastard! I tried to control my facial expression and looked at Celle. She road her eyes almost everywhere, and nodded.
"You have completed, all your tasks. If I didn’t know that you were the emperor, I would have thought you as an almighty maid," smirked Celle. I don’t whether she is trying to make fun of or complint .
"Can I get my food? I am starving! Or, is there anything else?" I asked.
"Nothing, you have completed all your tasks. Go back to your room. I will have your als delivered there."
"Will they be fresh? I am sure you wouldn’t leave this opportunity to tornt ."
Celle laughed at my words. "Don’t worry. You will get fresh food. Go."
Giving her a sceptical look, I put back all the cleaning tools back in its place. As I was walking, a single thought was in mind. I can’t anyone... especially, the system. My plans... they work and at the sa ti, they don’t. It’s creating a dilemma for , making question everything. But it’s certain that the system wants sothing, but the question is... what? What does it want?
I should probably consider the problem that I have in my hands first. Aerila. She is my problem. If I believe the system, which is really hard... Kelshin has probably made contact with her. Corrupted, was it? So, am I. The vines are his gift, isn’t it? This creates a bunch of question in itself. How can he give sothing like this to Aerila? Where did he find it from? And why?
I entered my shabby room, and sat on the ground. Everything is confusing, and so does my existence. OG Sharon... killed . She killed because... I created her... I dood her to a completely horrible fate. This brings to a question. Did this world exist much before I had written the book? I smiled at this very thought. I have to re-think everything from the very beginning. My actions, ’their actions,’ differences and similarities. I am going to re-evaluate every fucking it. But for now, I will have to escape from here. But I am not going to depend on the system. Aerila... you are the one who have wrapped these vines around my body and you will be the one, who is going to remove these.
