Sharon’s POV—
"What do you an?" asked Jaffer.
I washed my gaze over the entire village and replied, "This village... your clothes are very eye-catching. They are glowing in the sunlight. Hmm... why is that? Even you, Jaffer, why? Your clothes are too good for a beggar. Will you tell the reason? Or, shall I?"
Jaffer took a step back and lowered his head in submission.
I clicked my tongue in annoyance. "Jaffer, you promised to tell everything, and now? You are going back on your promise. Why? I thought we were friends. Okay, whatever. Just nod your head if I am correct. Your village is doing ’organ trafficking?’ You traffic the organs of those foreigners, right? You sell them and in return, you get tons of money. What a simple ’rich-making’ system! Your villagers must be very proud of this."
Jaffer nodded, "You are... correct."
"Hmmm? You replied? It seems your tongue found its way back in your mouth!" I mocked him rcilessly.
"So, what are you going to do with ?" Jaffer asked in a very small voice. If I he hadn’t been standing near , then I would have completely missed his words.
I replied, "Just answer so more questions, and you are free. Look, kid... I don’t have much ti. Honestly, I am a very busy person. So, your answers should be at least satisfying. I don’t know what do you think about ... and personally, I don’t care. Therefore, let’s wrap it up. Quickly!"
Jaffer’s face brightened with hope. He frantically nodded. It looks like he is eager to answer everything very quickly, just to get rid of .
"Good. Where am I? I don’t know which place I am currently in. So, help , would you?" I still don’t know where did the teleportation array land , and I want to know the degree of my ’brilliance.’ It’s been series of adventures for to finally land here.
Jaffer looked confused but nevertheless, he answered . "You are in ’Koerthal Village.’"
"Where is this village located in?"
"In the ’Derkormax Continent.’ You should at least know this," he answered with a bit of hesitation.
Great! No only this kid thinks as an idiot but also, I am in a whole new continent. One that my novel lacks. Although, my novel is now nothing but a painful mory for . Now, it’s only role is making nostalgic. Ah, fuck! It’s even doing bad in this role too!
I cleared my throat and answered, "I am not from this continent."
My continent’s na is ’Quaerlot.’ Wow, I am in a whole new continent, yet I am not feeling anything nice. I am not all a bit excited. There are lot of factors to be considered. Climate, terrain, monsters, people, distance between my continent and this continent... there are a lot of unknown factors.
Shocked, Jaffer yelled, "Another continent?! How is this possible?!" The villagers were also giving a look of disbelief.
Frowning, I asked, "Why are you so surprised? I told ’another continent,’ didn’t I? You are behaving as if I told you that I am from another world."
"Are you? But... how? No one from the other continent should be able to enter our continent. It’s simply impossible."
I raised my hand and said, "Wait. Before that answer my one question. You told your village had a temple, right? Can you show ?"
According to my information, gods are no longer worshipped. But this village has a temple. How?
"You want to visit our temple?"
I replied, "Yes. I want to see your temple."
Jaffer looked scared. He stuttered, "N-no... y-you c-can’t."
"And why is that? Why can’t I go into the temple? I am really interested in your culture. You worship there, right? Of course, you worship there. How silly of ! I am really an idiot, ain’t I? Jaffer, look... show your temple. ’Stopping a devotee from worshipping is an offense to the god himself.’ It’s a very famous line from our continent. Heck, it’s written in our sacred book. You are doing a sin by stopping !"
"What book?" asked a villager.
With a serious tone, I replied, "We can’t tell its na. It’s prohibited in our religion. I think you should understand my emotion. It’s like a raging fire. My body cells are screaming to worship this wonderful god of yours. So, shall we go?" I looked into Jaffer’s eyes with anticipation.
Jaffer fell on his knees and begged, "P-please... don’t make take you there. It’s not safe!"
There it is! That’s what I was searching for! "Why are you scared of going there? Aren’t you a devotee of this god? Why would a devotee be sacred of their god?"
A villager walked forward. She said, "You are wrong?"
"Hmmm?"
"We are not trafficking organs."
"Then what are you doing?" I asked her.
She said, "Jaffer is a kid... so we always refrain from telling him about the inner details."
"Can you stop playing around? Just tell already! Like I have said before, I am a very busy person." Her excuse or I guess, ’reason’ was very pathetic.
"We... we offer them to our god."
"You offer what? Organs?" I asked in disbelief. What type of God takes organs as offerings?
The woman nodded, "Yes, Miss Fighter."
I will ignore this na for now. I have more pressing matters in my hands than this silly nickna. I asked, "Why doesn’t your god take a live human as an offering? Why only organs?"
The woman shook her head and answered, "No, he prohibited us from doing that."
He? So, it’s definitely out of those two gods.
"Why? There must be a reason."
"No. He never said the reason."
I asked, "Did he et you?" the woman shook her head, "then, how did he comminute with you? There should be a way. It’s not like the ssage will appear out of nowhere. There must be a ssenger or sothing."
The woman replied, "Yes, there is a ssenger. He delivers us his divine orders."
’Divine orders?’ What the fuck is wrong with these people?
"Are you sacred because of this ssenger?" I asked her.
