Adele Horne's face turned even paler.

"How about this, Adele? Take so ti to think it over these next few days. If you truly don't want to keep it, I'll accompany you to the hospital for an abortion."

Adele Horne nodded, thought for a mont, and then implored Julia, "Sister-in-law, please don't let the family find out, okay? I don't want them to worry about anymore."

Julia hesitated but finally nodded, sighing inwardly. Her sister-in-law really has matured, she thought, but the price for it seems a bit too steep.

Glades Horne had been searching for the man surnad Hei who had violated Adele Horne. There were many n with the surna Hei in the country, and investigating them individually would take a lot of ti. So far, he hadn't found any plausible leads.

Glades believed that for soone to have built such an impenetrable security system, one that even he, with all his local clout, couldn't breach, the man's resources and influence had to be greater than his own.

No matter how powerful the other party is, I won't let him get away with ruining my sister!

Adele Horne had initially planned to throw away the Cartier n's necklace but ultimately couldn't bring herself to do it. However, she no longer wore it. Instead, she placed it in her jewelry box, locked away in her vanity drawer. A month had passed, and their bank cards had long since been reactivated. To distract herself from the necklace that occasionally surfaced in her thoughts, she bought many new ones, deliberately displaying them all over her vanity, hoping to forget the one bearing the 'Hei' inscription.

The two sisters-in-law sat on the sofa, each lost in her own silent thoughts, so neither of them heard Glades Horne knock. When Glades entered, they remained oblivious until he leaned in close and stole a kiss from Julia's lips, pulling her back from her reverie.

"AH!"

Startled back to her senses, Julia saw an enlarged handso face before her and shrieked, genuinely frightened.

Both Glades and Adele were startled by her scream.

"Glades, is that you? Why are you here? Didn't I tell you to co after work? And why didn't you knock when you ca in? You ambushed ! Don't you know scaring people like that can give them a heart attack?" Having regained her composure and realizing it was her husband who had startled her, Julia imdiately fired off a barrage of questions like a machine gun.

Glades felt he had been more unjustly accused than anyone in history. He *had* co in after work. He *had* knocked, but she hadn't responded. He had been standing right in front of her, and she still hadn't noticed him, which is why he couldn't resist a little teasing ambush.

"Julia, it's already twelve o'clock. Your employees have all gone to lunch, yet here you are, the General Manager, still sitting idly." Glades looked down at his beloved wife. His deep eyes sharpened as he sensed that both his wife and sister had encountered sothing significant; otherwise, they wouldn't have ignored him so completely.

Being completely ignored by the woman he loved most... It was distressing!

Huh? Julia glanced at the ti and saw that it was indeed the end of the workday.

Then, "Glades, let's go ho," she said, her earlier machine-gun onslaught replaced by a sheepish, gentle smile. She stood up, took Glades's arm, and also pulled Adele up, guiding them towards the door.

This girl is hiding sothing from him! Glades thought.

He glanced at Julia but didn't imdiately ask what she was keeping from him. If she didn't want him to know, pressing her would be pointless. He believed Julia would tell him eventually.

「A City, Ruiz Family.」

Mada Ruiz walked into the house, furious, and flopped down onto the sofa.

Matthew Ruiz, who hadn't gone to the office that day, was leisurely flipping through a newspaper on the sofa. Seeing his wife storm in, he quickly folded the paper, tossed it under the coffee table, and asked with a forced smile, "Ellie, who managed to anger you this ti?"

Mada Ruiz glared at him fiercely and said irritably, "Who else could it be? Besides that precious eldest son of yours, who else? Tell , how did we end up with such a son? Ignoring all those accomplished young won from good families to insist on that penniless farm girl!"

She had just found out that Hansen Ruiz had brought his girlfriend for a formal introduction to the family.

It's enough to drive mad!

Her eldest son seed born to defy her.

She was his mother! And for so ordinary young woman, he had even dared to warn *her*, his own mother!

She had only ever heard of "fatal beauties" causing disaster, never that an "ugly woman" could be one too.

Her dissatisfaction with Rachel Bailey grew. She felt Rachel's existence was the cause of the rift between Hansen and herself. She even unreasonably blad Rachel Bailey for Hansen's departure from ho to T City years ago, holding Rachel responsible for his actions.

"Hansen is no longer a child," Matthew said. "He's always resisted our control, so you shouldn't worry about it anymore. Let him marry whover he loves. As long as he's happy and willing to get married, that's all that matters." Compared to his stubborn wife, Matthew Ruiz was much more open-minded. "Besides, aren't you the one who gave birth to him?"

It's not like the boy ca from *my* belly, after all, Matthew thought wryly. So why is all the bla falling on ?

His wife had always been domineering and authoritarian. She had controlled his entire life and similarly kept a tight grip on the paths of their two younger sons. They couldn't take a single step off the path she dictated. Only their eldest son, Hansen, dared to defy her. In fact, in terms of spirit, ability, ruthlessness, and domineering personality, Hansen had surpassed her.

Actually, among their three sons, only the eldest was most like his mother in character—truly a case of the student surpassing the master.

"You... You didn't go to the office today just to stay ho and infuriate to death, did you?" This only fueled Mada Ruiz's anger further.

Matthew Ruiz's expression changed abruptly. "Oh, I almost forgot!" he said quickly. "There's actually sothing very important I need to handle at the company. I'll head over now. Don't wait up for for dinner. I'll be... uh... eting a client."

With that, Matthew Ruiz darted off like an old rabbit—WHOOSH!—and was gone.

Mada Ruiz's expression darkened further.

She resolved to make another trip to T City and have another talk with Rachel Bailey.
