Ever since Adele Horne started working at her company, she had given up many bad habits. She went to work on ti every day, stopped her wild nights out, and, by all accounts, shouldn't have been dozing off during work hours.
Suddenly, Julia Bluen rembered sothing Adele had said to her half a month ago.
Adele had told her that her fertile window had, for so reason, been delayed. And the ti she lost her virginity had happened to fall right within that fertile window. It seed as if fate was deliberately playing a trick on her; her usually punctual nstrual cycle had inexplicably shifted that one ti. Had her period co? If not, she was definitely pregnant. During the early stages of pregnancy, won tend to feel very sleepy, and that's how I had felt back then.
Thinking of this, Julia internally scolded herself for not being attentive enough as a sister-in-law.
During the past half month, she had been busy knitting a sweater for Glades Horne and had forgotten about Adele's situation.
"Hey, how did I fall asleep?"
Just as Julia was blaming herself for not caring enough about her sister-in-law, Adele woke up.
Seeing Julia standing in front of her, she quickly sat up, smiling sheepishly at Julia. "Sister-in-law, I'm sorry, I fell asleep. I didn't an to. I just don't know what's gotten into lately; I keep wanting to sleep. Every night, the mont I see my bed, I get incredibly eager. I climb in and fall asleep right away, but I still feel sleepy all the ti."
"Adele." Julia sat down beside her, looked at her aningfully, and asked, "Did your... you know... arrive?"
"My what? What 'you know'?" Adele, still groggy from sleep, didn't imdiately understand what her sister-in-law ant. A mont later, realization dawned, and her face turned deathly pale. She shook her head and replied, "No, Sister-in-law. What am I going to do? This... this definitely ans I'm pregnant."
It's been a month since I lost my virginity, and my period hasn't co. I'm one hundred percent pregnant!
What should I do?
After one night of misguided passion, I'm actually pregnant with a stranger's child!
Julia's expression also changed slightly.
"Sister-in-law, what am I going to do?"
"Don't panic yet," Julia soothed her. "Here's what we'll do: I'll go out now and buy a pregnancy test for you. If it turns out you really are pregnant, then we'll figure out a way to deal with it."
Adele imdiately grabbed Julia's hand, saying anxiously, "Sister-in-law, please hurry then."
Julia nodded, patted her hand, then stood up and walked out of the office.
After Julia left, Adele couldn't sit still any longer. She stood up and paced back and forth in the office.
Julia returned quickly.
She handed Adele the pregnancy test she had bought, telling her to follow the instructions and test herself.
Adele's hands trembled as she took the pregnancy test, her heart pounding with extre nervousness.
Julia waited for her on the sofa, temporarily unable to focus on work.
Just as Adele was testing herself, Glades Horne happened to call. He said he was on his way to pick Julia up from work and take her ho for a nourishing soup his mother had prepared for her.
"Glades, don't co!"
Julia snapped without thinking, startling Glades on the other end of the line. He imdiately asked, full of anxiety and concern, "Julia, tell , what's happened?" She had never used such an urgent, almost frightened tone with him before, as if she were terrified of him arriving.
"It's nothing serious. It's just... I have sothing very important to deal with right now. Please don't co yet; you'll only distract . So, that's settled, Glades. Rember, okay? Don't co now. Wait until it's ti to leave work. If you co before then, I'll ignore you when I get ho."
My tone was too harsh just now; he must have misunderstood, Julia realized. But I can't let Glades know about Adele's situation yet. I have no choice but to threaten my dear husband like this.
With that, Julia hung up before Glades could respond.
Glades's brows furrowed.
Sothing's wrong with my wife!
Why has she been so secretive lately?
Just last night, I finally found out why I'd been neglected for half a month. Her knitting a sweater personally made up for all that dissatisfaction. So why is she being mysterious again today? She even threatened !
, Glades Horne! Who dares to threaten ? Whose threats have I ever feared? ...Alright, fine. In this entire world, only Julia Bluen dares to threaten , and I, of all people, am actually scared of her threats. What I fear most is her saying she'll ignore !
"Pull over at the company entrance and wait. Don't co inside until closing ti!" Glades ordered the bodyguard who was driving, his face stern.
"Yes, Young Master."
Julia had only just hung up Glades's call when Adele erged from the restroom.
"Well?"
Julia imdiately stood up and rushed towards her, asking worriedly.
Adele's face was ashen. She held out the test strip for Julia to see: two bright red lines were clearly visible.
The two sisters-in-law were montarily speechless.
After Adele threw away the test strip and washed her hands, they both sat on the sofa, looking at each other in silence.
Pregnancy was supposed to be a joyous occasion, but for Adele Horne, it was a disaster.
I'm trying so hard to leave my past behind, to forget that one night of misguided passion. I want to change myself, start a new life, and eventually find a good man to marry and have children with. But now I'm pregnant... This has crushed the confidence in life I'd just started to regain.
"Adele, do you want to keep this child?" Julia finally asked after a long silence, sighing softly.
Adele didn't answer. Her mind was a chaotic ss.
After thinking for a while, she finally looked at Julia and asked in anguish, "Sister-in-law, I don't want to be pregnant before marriage. This child... I don't want it." I don't even know what the child's father looks like. How could I possibly have a child for that stranger? Even though this child would be mine too, but...
Julia was montarily lost for words.
"An abortion... I've heard it's very hard on the body, especially the first ti," Julia said gently. "People say that an abortion can be more damaging to your system than carrying a pregnancy to term. Also, many won who abort their first pregnancy damage their bodies and then struggle to conceive when they want to later on. You really need to think this through carefully, Adele."
