Glades Horne’s face twitched. It seed he would have to flirt with her more; otherwise, she would still think of him as her brother-in-law.

He pressed his hand against her red lips, his voice full of deep indulgence as he brushed away Julia Bluen’s apologies. "I will give you more ti to adapt, don’t worry." Each ti he drew close, she would feel slightly uncomfortable. How could he not notice? He had been too hasty.

Glades straightened his posture, started the car engine, and drove off.

This man always had the power to strike at her heart.

Leaning against the car door, Julia Bluen stared straight at Glades Horne as he drove, the confusion deepening in her almond eyes. Why did she always feel that Glades Horne truly loved her, not her sister? But if he truly loved her, why had he been in love with her sister? They had been in love for so many years, even discussing marriage with the wedding date set. He had been waiting at the Civil Affairs Office for her sister, only to be stood up. It was utterly puzzling. Should she ask? He definitely wouldn’t tell her.

Suddenly, she rembered the words the old lady had almost let slip last ti. The old lady had asked if she knew. What was it that made the old lady think she knew?

During the drive, neither of them spoke again. As Glades Horne focused on driving, he caught Julia Bluen’s expression in the rearview mirror.

「Soon, the car entered the Valence Group.」

The sun, high in the sky, was soft, and the cool autumn wind made one drowsy. It was four in the afternoon. The Valence Group’s office hours ended at five o’clock.

Glades Horne’s two Bodyguards were still waiting for him at the company. Seeing him return with Julia, they couldn’t help but exchange glances. At this hour, was the Young Master bringing the Young Mistress back to the company to accompany him while he worked? Speculation would remain just that; the Bodyguards certainly lacked the courage to ask why.

So employees of the Group saw Glades Horne helping Julia Bluen out of the car and entering the Office Building. They found it strange. Why was their CEO with an unfamiliar woman? This had never happened before.

Moreover, they belatedly realized that the young miss of the Bluen Family consortium, the CEO’s fiancée, hadn’t appeared for several days. Hadn’t they set a wedding date? If mory served, there were only five days left. Shouldn’t a couple about to transition from lovers to spouses be more affectionate than before?

"Do you still have a lot of work left unfinished?" Julia Bluen asked curiously as Glades Horne pulled her into the CEO’s private elevator. She had passed by the Valence Group nurous tis without ever entering, so hardly any of the employees recognized her. However, she knew Glades’s work style was quite flexible; he rarely visited the office at this ti.

"Mm," Glades Horne responded faintly as the elevator ascended from the first floor.

Shortly after, it reached the sixty-eighth floor. This floor was Glades Horne’s domain. It was the most spacious level, housing only his office, a Conference Room, and a Reception Room. Due to its vastness, the layout included rooms within rooms.

The Secretary was stunned to see Glades Horne return. She was even more shocked to see him with a beautiful young woman she had never t before. Her eyes nearly popped out, and her mouth fell open in an ’O’.

Ignoring the others’ gazes, Glades Horne pulled Julia into his office. "Julia," he said considerately, "sit on the sofa for a bit. I still have so important docunts that need to be dealt with today. In half an hour, we’ll go eat. You can find anything you want here—anything to eat or drink, we can accommodate you. Oh, and the snack cabinet has those pistachios you love. But don’t eat too many; they can cause a bit of internal heat."

After speaking, he led Julia to the sofa and helped her sit down. Then, he walked to a white, jade-like cabinet in the corner, took out a bag of pistachios, and picked a few other small snacks. He returned to the sofa and laid these treats—the kind girls often liked—out in front of Julia. He even thoughtfully opened the pistachio packaging for her.

Watching his series of actions, Julia felt like a petrified statue. Goodness, who could tell her why there was a snack cabinet in this powerful man’s office? And why was it stocked with so many snacks? Who did he usually prepare them for? She recalled he didn’t seem to have such a typically feminine fondness for snacks.

"Why do you have these in your office?" Julia asked, recovering her senses and pointing at the snacks on the coffee table. A quick glance told her they were all her favorites.

"They’re just here sotis," Glades Horne replied without elaborating, offering a low chuckle. His captivating eyes sparkled with an unreadable light. He then turned and walked toward his desk. After giving Julia one more smiling glance, he imrsed himself in his work.

A strange sensation enveloped Julia’s heart. This man was becoming more and more unfamiliar to her, yet her heart grew increasingly tender in his presence.

She quietly stood up from the sofa and walked over to the snack cabinet. The shelves were filled with all sorts of little treats. As she looked closely, her suspicions deepened. Every single item, one by one, was sothing she loved to eat.

She was different from her sister. After finishing school, her sister had joined their family’s consortium to manage its core financial assets in the Finance Departnt. As the eldest daughter of the Bluen Family and a senior executive, she was very conscious of her image and wouldn’t snack indiscriminately like other girls. Julia, however, valued her independence and spontaneity. She never put on airs as a ’young miss’ and, like many girls, loved buying snacks—nutritious or not, if it tasted good, she would try it. Yet, no one had ever so perfectly curated a collection of her favorite snacks.

Today, walking into her man’s office, she suddenly felt a sense of being completely understood and catered to.

She turned her head to look at the man at the desk. He was ticulous in his work, yet his calm deanor couldn’t hide the ambitious spirit in his eyes. Every move exuded an attractive maturity and an aura of soone in complete command. Julia’s almond eyes began to deepen in thought.
