Camila Ruiz was curious, while Ivan Horne's expression was somber.
"Big brother, don't worry, I will definitely help you find out the truth." Jimmy Horne promised with sincerity.
"Thank you." Ivan Horne politely expressed his gratitude, the somberness on his face vanished, and his expression changed rapidly, as if the man with the darkened face earlier was not him. "I want the answer before night falls."
After pondering, he made another request: "Jimmy, can you arrange for two people to protect Lia in secret? The person who sent this kind of package is clearly targeting Lia. He cannot stand Lia's happiness, and I'm worried he would do sothing to harm her from behind."
He and Lia just had a budding relationship, and the other party started sending such packages. Saying it's not targeted at Lia, Ivan Horne couldn't believe it.
Jimmy agreed, "Okay."
"Thank you."
"Big brother, we're brothers; you don't need to be so polite with ."
Ivan Horne stood up, handed the little girl over to Camila Ruiz, and said with a smile, "I haven't paid a penny for services, so saying thank you is deserved."
Camila Ruiz looked at her husband and said, "Big brother, if Jimmy dares to accept your money, he'll be in trouble."
Jimmy imdiately put on a sullen face, deliberately feigning misery while saying to his big brother, "Big brother, look, Camila will deal with . From now on, don't be polite with . Big brother's business is my business. Rest assured, this ti I will definitely help you investigate thoroughly."
Ivan Horne looked at him askance, snorted, and said, "Admitting you were ignoring before?"
Jimmy Horne: ...
He confessed without being questioned.
Fortunately, big brother didn't hold it against him.
Ivan Horne understood why his brothers didn't help him investigate Lia before.
"I'm leaving now; you don't need to see off."
The couple spoke in unison, "Big brother, take care."
After Ivan Horne left, Camila Ruiz tentatively asked, "Jimmy, has big brother taken a liking to that Painter?"
Jimmy Horne reached out and wrapped his arm around his beloved wife, planting a kiss on her face. His precious daughter saw him kissing her mom and pushed him with her little chubby hand. After pushing him away, the little girl wrapped her arms around Camila Ruiz's neck, as if silently declaring: Mom is hers!
"Baby, co here, let daddy hold you." Jimmy Horne doted on his daughter trendously, always calling her 'baby.' He forcibly took his precious daughter in his arms, as the little girl attempted to grab the envelope in his hand. He had no choice but to place the envelope on the coffee table; since he had refused to let Camila Ruiz see it earlier, even placing it there, she wouldn't look at it.
Camila Ruiz complained, "The daughter will be spoiled by you sooner or later." Jimmy Horne was very strict with his son but treasured his daughter imnsely.
"Camila, big brother is serious this ti; we can finally relax a bit." Jimmy seed to not hear his wife's complaint as he gazed tenderly at her. Camila Ruiz, having borne two children, appeared more mature and possessed more feminine charm, causing him to lean in and kiss her cheek again.
Camila Ruiz gently pushed him away and coyly glared at him, then cheerfully said, "That's great. Has the Painter gotten into trouble?" She was happy for big brother's emotional stirrings, as well as for herself and Jimmy.
All along, her husband had worried Ivan Horne had feelings for her, thinking Ivan had given her to Jimmy out of brotherly affection. Every ti she was a bit closer to Ivan, or showed a bit more concern for him, Jimmy would get jealous to the point of dropping teeth.
No matter how many tis she explained, it was useless.
Even Ivan's explanations, this guy wouldn't listen to.
Only when Ivan had a woman he liked, married, and had children, would Jimmy finally let go of his guilt and stop being jealous, believing she and Ivan were solely siblings.
"There is a bit of trouble. Soone sent big brother a paternity test result showing Lia is not President Aiken's biological daughter but is sowhat related by blood, possibly an uncle-niece relationship. The photos are even worse; the female lead in them looks very much like Lia. Fortunately, they're old photos, or anyone seeing them would assu it's Lia. The aim is to make big brother feel Lia's background is disgraceful, thus rejecting her."
Camila Ruiz frowned, "That person is just ddling. Big brother's fondness for Lia is none of his business. Since big brother likes her, no matter what they do, he won't reject her."
In the next mont, she added, "Jimmy, can I go interact with Lia?"
Jimmy Horne chuckled, reached out to gently pinch his wife's face, "Indeed a wife worthy of Josh Reyes, thinks the sa as . I was thinking the sa."
Lia has few friends; the ones she trusts are Charlotte Lewis, her senior, and recently, Lena Horne, her junior sister.
But these two are from T City, while most of Lia's activities are in River City. There, due to Tom Aiken's suppression and Celine Taylor and her daughter's bullying, Lia has no friends.
"Camila, Lia is now at her senior's gallery; the gallery is nad 'Charlotte Gallery.' Pretend to go there to admire paintings, be high-profile about it, take the people I've arranged for you, let everyone know your status."
Camila Ruiz instantly grasped his intention. Though she usually disliked using the identity of Fla Gate's young mistress, she nodded in agreent, "Jimmy, I will do that."
"dia loves to watch people like us. If you go in such a high-profile manner, there will be reports in entertainnt sections, quickly spreading the word, allowing the person secretly targeting Lia to weigh his abilities."
No one dares to provoke Fla Gate.
Camila Ruiz is the mistress of the young master, greatly favored by Josh Reyes, the young master. If she associates with Lia and becos friends, who would dare to harm Lia? Not to ntion the formidable Ivan Horne.
Secretly, Ivan Horne arranges people to protect Lia, while publicly, Camila Ruiz, the mistress of Fla Gate's young master, guards over Lia.
Lia herself never expected her life was beginning to undergo earth-shattering changes.
She had not returned to the hotel, instead helping her senior sell paintings at Charlotte Gallery, occasionally picking up her pen.
The painting of Ivan negotiating business this morning hadn't been completed.
Lia sat at the easel, continuing the unfinished painting. Her good mory ensured the scene was ingrained in her mind, eliminating the need to look at Ivan Horne again to paint, otherwise she wouldn't be able to produce a great back view that everyone adored.
"Lia, so you were here!"
A familiar voice laced with hatred pierced Lia's ear drum; she didn't need to turn around to know it was her wicked younger sister.
Violet Aiken's swollen face had subsided. After apologizing to her father and repeatedly promising not to quarrel with Lia, Tom Aiken finally allowed her to stay.
She was young and couldn't sit still; once her face deswelled, she inford her father she was going shopping and sneaked away.
