Cough, cough. "I said System," Aurelian whispered again, this ti a little more exasperated.

If mory served him right, other ani protagonists only had to think it ntally for it to appear, still saying it out loud wasn’t that bad.

A mont later, with still no familiar ding. No glowing panel. No blue text floating before his eyes. Just silence, a cold feeling surfaced in his gut as a terrifying thought ca to mind.

Don’t tell ... I’m one of those poor bastards without a system.

Thecontinued silence did nothing to comfort him. If he really was, then he was fucked, but who needed a system when you were a prince of so sort?

Just as his thoughts were about to spiral, a bald-headed man he called Uncle Rarvo ca into his line of vision, standing where the patriarch had been monts earlier.

In his hands, a glowing script of so sort flared with a slew of mystical runes.

"When I call your na, step forward and place your hands on the Awakening Orb so that you may awaken your talents. May the cosmos grant you its blessings."

"Hahahaha! There you are, I was wondering where you’d be?" Yanked from his thoughts, he turned, and before he could even think, a na appeared seared into his brain with additional mories.

Alaric, his best friend from childhood, one he’d trust with his own life.

Before he could respond, a sweet scent filled his nose, and without turning, he recognized the lodic voice that rang out.

"Yeah, too." She whispered, now clinging tightly to his arm while acting coy. "You don’t want to abandon us before you ascend to greatness... do you?"

"Wait." Aurelian stiffened. His inner manhua self sneered awake, then he turned to face them both.

"Aurora?" he voiced out. "You’re supposed to be my fiancée, right?" he asked, now truly looking at her form.

She sported curly black hair that trailed all the way to her butt, with a pair of eyes as dark as the void itself.

Her skin shimred against the light, almost giving him the illusion he was looking at a fairy. Truly an impeccable work of art, which imdiately shifted his scales.

Before his transmigration, Natalie had been a beauty and a ten out of ten on his scale, but now that he was placing Aurora in it, she was a hard one to compare.

"Of course, dummy. I am your fiancée. Don’t you rember our engagent?"

"No, no, no," Aurelian whispered under his breath. "It can’t be..." He was a bit familiar with this plot.

He was engaged to a fiancée who happened to be a heavenly beauty, and on the other hand was his lifeti best friend. The nexus event being this talent awakening ceremony.

There was only one thing left before the truth was unsealed. His mory was a bit blurry, so he had to ask. After all, digesting all that shitload of information was a herculean task, and doing that within a few seconds was a little bit next to impossible.

"Say, our parents don’t happen to have arranged this marriage?" Then, turning to his supposed best friend, his eyebrow arched. "And you—you don’t happen to be a bit jealous and have been seeing my fiancée behind my back, to, say... fuck her?"

Huh? Gasps rippled out as a few people nearby overheard.

"No! It’s not like that. It was a small mistake, it only happened once..."

"Argh, dammit! It really is true. It’s the F-rank plot," Aurelian cursed almost imdiately.

Sure, he had unraveled a heresy of so sort, but funny enough, he didn’t have any feelings for her.

Maybe it was because of his last not-so-subtle rejection, or maybe the previous host had been a little too much up her ass.

"What plot are you talking about, Aurelian? Plus, we’re truly sorry—we didn’t an to. It was a mistake..." Alaric blubbered on.

Now he was nothing to the Graegor family. His only rise among his fellow youths was due to his link with Aurelian. One single word now, and his head would roll.

Aurora would probably have it better due to her connections, but him? He was fucked.

"Mistake, indeed." Aurelian snickered. He knew enough of this. The two bastards would awaken high talents and then jump him when he awakened a trashy talent.

His only saving grace would have been a system, which he didn’t fucking have.

Better to die on your feet than on your knees, he surmised. Besides, he could feel an unnatural anger bubbling within him. Caring for Aurora was one thing—but to be cucked?

Fragnts of his old host’s feelings couldn’t live with that. To get over it, he would have to lay ruin to them if he were ever to truly feel at peace with his body.

"Leave ," he finally uttered. He could create a fiasco about them, but he doubted that would play in his favor.

"What does that an?" Aurora asked, scared. "Like leave so I can think about it, or leave so you can deploy ans to roll our heads?"

The last part, she yelled out loud, drawing attention from the crowd.

"Look! It’s Aurora!"

"Why is she kneeling on the ground!?"

"What do you an why is she kneeling on the ground!? Can’t you see it’s that impudent toad’s fault? He thinks because he is handso as fuck, he can do everything he wants!"

"Ooh, my Aurora. You should have been my fiancée. I would have treated you like my queen!"

"Mmmh, fancy you go tell that to Aurelian out loud? No? Didn’t think so. Then shut the fuck up."

"He’s right. You all know Aurelian. His wrath is not sothing you want invoked. Let’s get out of this fool’s group before he thinks we’re with them."

"Like, leave the fuck alone!" Aurelian snickered, yanking his arm out of her grip. This was what he’d wanted to avoid—a stupid commotion. But since she’d started it, then who was he to back off? He’d always fancied himself as sothing of a professional gaslighter.

"Leave alone, you... cheating bitch!"

SLAP!

A slap echoed out as Aurora’s cheeks tinged with a red blush,

a handprint coloring her left cheek.

She wanted a commotion? Fine. Let give you one.
