(The sword is the abyss, the wielder its caster. With your will as the conduit, summon ethereal blades that spin to form a black hole that sucks in enemies and shreds them to bits. The more blades, the more effective the skill.)

His eyes glead with excitent as he read the skill’s description, a smile spreading across his lips.

"Innate skill, huh?"

If mory served him right, these were skills linked to one’s awakened talent, enabling the host to activate a single or even multiple skills per rank.

What set them apart from normal ones was the fact that they had no cooldown.

If he could sustain the cost, he could, on paper, conjure a Vortex of Doom every ti he wished.

Though he doubted it’d be that easy, he suspected the energy requirents to pull this off would be far higher.

"Well, only one way to find out, isn’t there?" he smirked, his focus returning as he headed deeper within the dungeon. What better way to test it out than on targets, green ones at that.

His pace shifted from a quick walk to a light jog, and before he knew it, he broke into a full-on sprint.

The wind blew against his face as he rushed deeper. He could feel a new presence anchored to him, opening a fresh pathway to power.

The innate skill played at the back of his mind countless tis, and before long, he felt a strange familiarity with it, as if it had always been his.

Innate skills didn’t require practice to master. They were already imbued in the body; unlocking them was simply awakening what was already there.

After about five minutes, another batch of goblins ca into view, only this ti, it was a larger group.

Squinting his eyes, he counted roughly twelve. The presence they radiated was stronger, far stronger than the beasts he’d faced before.

Most people would have faltered. But for so strange reason, he wasn’t afraid. In fact, his blood boiled, anticipation surging through him, filling him with a wave of happiness.

It was like a drug. Or maybe he was just a battle maniac. Either way, he didn’t care. He charged forward, casting his Appraisal skill.

"Ten level ones and three level twos?" he muttered, the full scope of their strength unraveling before him.

"Impressive." He snickered. This skill would be very handy in the future.

The goblins, noting his presence, charged. He could see the sa mindless gaze in their blank stares.

"Show what you can do," he breathed when he was about ten tres from impact.

"Activate Vortex of Doom."

Boom! A mini-blast rippled as the words parted from his lips. Instantly, four ethereal blades tore into reality, hovering in a circular formation before him.

The goblins continued their charge, the sudden appearance of blades no deterrent. When they finally crossed the five-tre mark, the dormant blades lit up in a splendiferous blue light, illuminating the dungeon walls.

Slicing sounds echoed as the blades spun, rotating at a speed he couldn’t even track.

The goblins, unable to halt their montum, were suddenly pulled forward by a suction force. Then the unbelievable happened.

As the blades rotated, a black hole ford.

"What the fuck?" Aurelian muttered, shocked. He had expected the blades to shred the goblins into paste, instead, they sucked them in.

Before long, ten level-one goblins vanished.

Notifications flooded his vision, but he swiped them away, trying to catch his breath. The energy drain was higher than expected, not enough to cripple him, but enough to leave him winded.

His eyes locked onto the level-two goblins.

They stood about a tre and a half tall, their clubs larger, their skin thicker. Aside from that, they didn’t seem much different.

As he was forming a plan in the back of his mind, his system records pinged with a notification, even mid-battle, he couldn’t ignore it.

[Ding! The Vortex of Doom has absorbed all the energy from the slain foes. Where do you wish to channel it? ]

"What in the actual fuck?" he muttered, his focus snapping back just in ti to dodge a goblin’s club aid at his head.

He snapped his fingers. Four spectral blades appeared again. He directed one at the goblin before him. Still mid-swing, it couldn’t dodge.

The blade lodged into its skull, sinking only halfway due to the sheer thickness of its skin.

Ironically, the durability worked against it. Instead of a swift death, blood sputtered as it twitched violently before finally going still.

A warm surge of energy rushed into him, but he ignored it, his eyes turning to the two remaining goblins.

Snap!

The blades shot forth, slicing through the air with impeccable speed.

One goblin tried to block with its spiked club, but the weapon was cut clean in two before the blade struck true, severing its neck.

The last tried to dodge, but the blade veered mid-course, impaling the back of its head and killing it instantly.

The remaining blade buried itself into the half-dead goblin’s skull, ending its misery.

Level 2: (70/200 Dungeon points)

Not paying much attention to that, his eyes returned to the real prize, the prominent notification he’d received mid-battle.

He hadn’t gained dungeon points for any of the ten goblins slain by Vortex of Doom. Instead, their energy had been mystically stored. Now the Supre Record wanted him to channel it into one of the options it had provided.

Before he could decide, a yell echoed out nearby.

"Sobody’s close." His eyes narrowed. Strangely, the voice sounded familiar.

The next cry confird it.

"Amber? What’s she doing here?"

Curiosity getting the better of him, he moved forward. A quick scan of the battlefield revealed no loot drops, so he had no reason to linger.

Deeper into the dungeon, the walls shifted into branching tunnels.

Guided by her voice, he arrived monts later, the sight before him unfolding in full.

Twenty young n surrounded a group of girls. A closer glance revealed Amber and her companions, the sa group that had offered to... protect him.

At the front, a lean youth stood, his hands hovering suggestively above Amber’s waist, a lewd smile stretching across his lips.

Aurelian could already guess what was happening. He could walk away, it wasn’t his business, but he wasn’t one to repay kindness with cruelty. The girls had offered him a haven of sorts. Their strength hadn’t matched their words, but their intent still mattered.

Cough! Cough!* He cleared his throat.

The noise drew everyone’s attention.

Satisfied, a smirk stretched across his lips as he spoke.

"Now, now... that isn’t how you treat ladies, is it?"
