"What?!"

Although the upper echelon elders hadn’t interrupted Kranos while he explained everything he had experienced since arriving in this world including his conjectures, as soon as he was done, so of them couldn’t help but exclaim aloud. They were shocked! If what Kranos said was true...

At that mont, their gazes subtly shifted toward one another. Though they didn’t completely believe Kranos, they couldn’t help but raise their guard against their peers.

Ju Ming remained silent for a while, deep in thought. For a while the hall was silent, only a few sighs echoed,"So, you’re saying we’ll be attacked soon? It could be months, weeks... or even days?" Ju Ming finally asked, prompting Kranos to nod in response.

He gave Kranos a deep look before asking, "You should have a plan, right?"

Kranos gave a faint smile and interlocked his fingers. "I believe the coming war will be fought on two fronts—internal and external. Which ans, when the battle breaks out, so of you will be betrayed while defending the city. I have a way to identify those infected with the Gu Worm. First, let ask—have there been any individuals like us seeking refuge in the city in recent years?"

Ju Ming and the elders exchanged glances and pondered for a mont before one of them replied, "Yes! Ja Long... and also Ja Mong!"

At those words, the eyes of the other elders lit up. They began calling out nas, listing them one by one. The list grew to nearly fifty. Kranos was taken aback. He hadn’t expected the infiltration to be so extensive. Thankfully, he was here.

"Ja Long, huh?" Kranos said coldly. "Let’s go to his house imdiately!" he stood up soon after. Without delay, Ju Ming imdiately led him and the others using a magic beast. A few minutes later, they arrived at Ja Long’s residence.

Ju Ming walked towards the door of the house. Knock, knock knock...

Knock, knock, knock?

They imdiately realized sothing was wrong. jWithout hesitation, Ju Ming smashed the door open—only to find the house completely empty.

They were stunned. They imdiately thought that all Kranos said might be true.

Bringing them out of their reverie, Kranos shouted, "Quick, let’s check on the others!"

They mounted the beast again and rushed to the hos of the other suspects—only to find each one empty, as if the occupants had vanished into thin air, almost as though they were alerted beforehand that their identity had been revealed.

All sorts of thoughts were going through the elders’ minds; their expressions were no longer as calm as before. At this mont everyone had beco a suspect, including Kranos.

He could have alerted them beforehand through so secret thod before telling the elders so that they could accomplish another goal while the others were away, but what could they possibly accomplish? What could be his reason for doing that?

While everyone was imrsed in their own thoughts, a laugh resounded from the crowd. They were stunned and imdiately looked at the source of the voice. "fell for my trap, huh?" Kranos smirked.

The others didn’t understand what Kranos was talking about. could he have gone mad from all this? They wondered inwardly, but hearing Kranos next words, so of their expressions couldn’t help but light up, while so of their expressions changed slightly.

"I ntioned earlier that I had a thod to detect corruption. But before I said that, I anticipated that one of you might already be infected. I deliberately announced my plan, knowing you’d alert the others—so we could catch the real culprit—you."

Kranos turned to the crowd, "my thod of catching the person is quite simple, crude even; we just have to cut ourselves individually. if any of us is infected, then the gu worm will instinctively repair such wounds." he told them his plan. This ti Kranos was sure there was no way those who had infiltrated the elders could escape!

He ca up with this plan because he realized that only by cleaning out the higher-ups can they truly win the upcoming battle. Everyone felt Kranos’ plan was quite feasible, the best they could co up with, if they could at all.

They couldn’t help but look at the little kid in a new light, so young yet so cunning, like an old fox.

Hearing Kranos words Ju Ming’s eyes lit up, he was sure there was nothing wrong with him. A blade appeared in his hand and he imdiately slashed at his hand. The next mont blood sprayed from his hand. Soon others followed along, but Kranos imdiately realised sothing was wrong...

How’s this possible? How is it possible that none of them is corrupted? By the ti everyone finished creating a wound on their hands, Kranos was in disbelief. None of the elders’ wounds regenerated.

What did this an?

Kranos forced himself to stay calm. Only two possibilities made sense, and the realization made his heart grow heavy.

This enemy... was even more terrifying than he had imagined.

Feeling the others’ gazes on him, Kranos took out the azure sky and slashed at his hand; blood sprayed from his hand after a mont and seeing none of them regenerating, their gazes towards Kranos returned back to normal.

"Hmm, young man, it seems your plan was not quite feasible, but thankfully because of you we now know that there are monsters lurking in this city; we will ensure to destroy them." Ju Ming said to Kranos.

Kranos nodded silently. He followed Ju Ming to his temporary residence deep in thought, he had a lot on his mind to clarify. The creature was more terrifying than he imagined; he had to be prepared for the worst.

....

anwhile, in a dark cave, a deep voice resounded once again.

"That kid again? What a brilliant plan! Fortunately, i already predicted sothing like that. He doesn’t know that the Gu worm’s abilities can be suppressed? Kranos.... Truly an interesting kid!"

The dark cave once again returned to silence. Kranos didn’t know that all the Gu worms were interlinked with the master. As the master of the Gu worms, he could see through their perspectives, command them to self destruct and so much more.
