The elder noticed Kranos’s excitent, then stored the pills and began explaining to Kranos how beginner alchemy crafting worked. "Using your mana, you will slowly disintegrate the dicinal herbs. After fusing them, you can form a Rank 0 pill. Even though most of these Rank 0 pills are useless, it is beneficial for learning how to use the fla technique perfectly."
After the elder finished telling Kranos everything, he handed him a few batches of dicinal herbs, as he didn’t expect Kranos to succeed on his first try. Kranos took the first batch of herbs, then his mana flowed out from his ntal space, through his ridians, and into the herbs. Soon, a pale blue light perated the herbs.
The next mont, however, Kranos was shocked. He could feel that his mana could... extract the impure essences from these dicinal herbs? Didn’t the elder say that the reason Rank 0 pills were useless was because one couldn’t extract the impurities from them? Then how? Kranos was astounded.
But he imdiately had a guess. The technique I used to break through to the Dao Palace Realm! Kranos understood that this was one of the changes brought about by his unique breakthrough to the Dao Palace Realm. Instead of being able to rely sense the essence of the dicinal herbs, his pure mana enabled him to sense everything about the dicinal herb completely.
Kranos was overjoyed. His thoughts moved, but instead of revealing his true abilities to the elves, he did everything similar to how the elder had. His thoughts moved, and soon he was already in the fusion process. The elder stared at him in shock. He could hardly believe it—how could he learn sothing so complex so easily?
Although the elven elder was puzzled, he was happy nonetheless. Unwilling to interrupt Kranos’s process, he waited silently by the side. Fortunately, soon Kranos was done. After everything was over, a round dicinal pill appeared in his hand. The dicinal pill was black, and Kranos could barely feel the familiar scent that wafted to his nose from the elder’s Rank 1 pill from before.
"So this is a Rank 0 alchemy pill? Am I finally considered an alchemist as well?" Kranos mused silently.
The elder and his disciple stared at the pitch-black dicinal pill hovering in the air. "He succeeded?" The elder was stunned.
He faintly felt he had underestimated Kranos. His disciple beside him was in disbelief as well. "Maybe he got lucky?" he mouthed in shock, causing the elder to look at him as though he were stupid. However, after so thought, the elder then said to Kranos,
"Craft the dicinal pill once again."
Kranos also understood their doubts after hearing the youth’s words. Without any hesitation, a new batch of herbs was taken into his hands. His mana flowed smoothly, just like the previous ti, and a pale blue ethereal light danced around his palm.
In a few minutes, another pitch-black pill appeared in Kranos’s hand. This ti, the elder and his disciple could not refute the fact that Kranos had truly mastered crafting Rank 0 pills after observing it once.
"Good! Good! Good!" the elder exclaid three tis as he stared at Kranos. He was extrely pleased.
He continued after so thought, "It seems there is nothing much to teach you about this. Lessons will be put on hold for now. I will research and ask around to see where you can find a good fla to use in alchemy. After that, we can begin crafting Rank One pills. During this ti, it’s best if you take so Rank 2 and 3 alchemy books and study as well so that reaching Rank 2 and 3 will be easy when you finally get the fire."
Listening to the elder’s words, Kranos nodded gratefully as the elf passed him a spatial ring containing so books. Kranos didn’t glance at them, as he could roughly guess their contents. He turned to the dicinal pills; he still had to try if he could purify the dicinal pills using mana. If that was possible, it would be a groundbreaking discovery.
"Elder, can I take the remaining herbs?" After so monts of hesitation, Kranos finally asked. The elder was stunned for a mont before nodding. He didn’t care about these herbs, as they were barely useful for him, who had gone far on the path of alchemy.
Kranos thanked the elder, then took all the dicinal herbs. After so more words, he walked back to his room to put his plan into practice. He could hardly suppress his curiosity as he rushed back to his room, eager to see if he would actually be able to create a Rank One pill with this technique.
As soon as he entered his room, Kranos sat cross-legged and then took out the herbs. His mana flowed through his ridians, and soon the room was filled with a light ethereal glow. This ti, he didn’t suppress his mana in the slightest and released everything.
Imdiately, as the mana entered the herbs, Kranos felt the sa sensation as before. He could sense the impurities in the herb. He quickly split his use of mana in two, using one part to purify the herb while using the other part to extract the pure essence which seeped out from the herb.
Soon, it began to take shape. In the blink of an eye, the impurities in the dicinal herbs had been eliminated, and he was left with a pure, transparent liquid. "Why isn’t it taking shape?" Kranos wondered silently as he stared at the liquid that wasn’t solidifying.
His thoughts moved rapidly, and he soon ca to the realization. "Could it be because I didn’t use fire? Previously, when I didn’t extract the impurities, it had shape, but by extracting the impurities, I’m left with this liquid, an elixir."
"Also, although the impurities are removed in the real alchemy process, it is because of the fire that the dicinal pill is able to take shape." Kranos guessed, and he felt he was right. He brought the transparent liquid to his nose, and an intoxicating dicinal fragrance drifted to his nose.
Kranos was stunned; "It slls even more potent than that of the elder from before!" He stared at the liquid in his hand. From the aroma, this had confird his guess that he had actually crafted a Rank 1 dicinal pill, or in this case, an elixir.
Kranos felt overjoyed; it was a truly interesting technique. If he could study it more, it would definitely be beneficial! After thinking about these things, Kranos returned to cultivating. He no longer had to go to the elder since he didn’t have the fla yet, and there was nothing more to learn from him for now.
Kranos spent his ti cultivating, learning more about arrays and aiming to reach Rank 3, and learning all about dicinal pills from the books he collected from the elder.
