Chapter 95: Chapter 93: A Thousand-Li Head Delivery, How Should I Welco You?
They had a good night’s rest.
The next day, Mrs. Grant packed their things, ready to leave Mirewood with Celeste Grant and the others. As for the martial arts competition for the younger generation of the clan, Celeste Grant didn’t participate.
It wasn’t important to her.
But before her family could leave, soone returned.
It was Jocelyn Grant. This ti, she was accompanied by the man nad Hades—the sa person who had worn a mask in Breezewind Town, tried to steal the Vermilion, and played out a lodramatic soap opera with the "female lead."
’Her last suitor weighed over two hundred pounds, and even he hadn’t caused her the slightest bit of psychological trauma. Yet here she was, already entangled with another man. It seems those who can be a story’s heroine are truly no ordinary people.’
When they arrived,
Celeste Grant pulled Javier Sinclair and the others aside and cast an invisibility spell on them. They found a place to sit down and enjoy the show. She just wanted to see what Jocelyn Grant was plotting.
The pair’s conversation drifted to her ears.
"This Mirewood is such a remote place. The Spiritual Energy is so thin. This is the ho you used to live in? Why would you even co back to this dump?"
"Hmph, I didn’t ask you to co with . Soone like you, from a Grand Cultivator Clan, how could you possibly understand how hard it is for people like us, with no background, to leave this place and join an Immortal Sect? Back then, I was living under soone else’s roof, suffering all sorts of humiliation... Ugh, forget it, it’s all in the past. I just ca back this ti to see my uncle and aunt."
"Even though they don’t like
and only love my cousin, and I could only have her leftovers... sotis they would even hit ... but I can’t be heartless. They did raise , after all. I still rember this debt of gratitude."
At that mont, Celeste Grant’s parents were in the courtyard. They heard every word Jocelyn Grant and her companion said as soon as they arrived.
Their faces flushed with anger. More than that, they were heartbroken, feeling their kindness had been utterly wasted. They knew in their hearts that they had treated this niece very well. Even if they loved their own daughter a little more, they had never once mistreated her.
But they never imagined that in her words, they would be painted as heartless, cruel people who showed extre favoritism and abused their niece.
They had hit her, yes, but that was because she had done sothing wrong. They treated her like their own child and disciplined her accordingly. Otherwise, who would bother with such a thankless task?
Mr. Grant clenched his fists.
He looked up as the two approached, his eyes eting theirs. Seeing Mr. and Mrs. Grant in the courtyard, a flicker of embarrassnt crossed Jocelyn Grant’s face, but it was quickly replaced by resentnt.
’I wasn’t wrong,’ she thought. ’Uncle and Aunt are selfish. They never treated
like family.’
Mr. Grant, who had been sitting at the stone table, stood up, his fists still clenched. He spoke, "So, we were wrong to raise you. We took you in because we pitied you. Your father was gone, and your mother’s whereabouts were unknown. To think that in your eyes, we were so terrible. Jocelyn Grant, you are nothing but an ungrateful wretch."
"I’m not..."
Jocelyn Grant clutched her chest, her expression fragile as if she might collapse at any mont. "Uncle, Aunt, is it wrong that I just wanted to co back and see you? I know you only love my cousin."
Seeing her like this, the man beside her imdiately wrapped an arm around her waist. "Jocelyn, this family is so selfish. They aren’t worthy of your concern, let alone you traveling so far to see them."
Jocelyn Grant grabbed his hand.
"Hades, don’t say that. No matter what, they are my uncle and aunt. I’m fine. It must be sothing I did wrong that makes them dislike ."
Watching this scene from their hiding spot, the expressions on Nerida’s and Elder Lawson’s faces froze.
Nerida, in particular, felt her fists clenching.
’It’s these two idiots again,’ she thought. ’My eyes are going to bleed. Why are they everywhere?’
’Especially Jocelyn Grant, acting like she’s on her deathbed. She’s a Cultivator, for crying out loud! How can she be so fragile? If you’re that fragile, what’s the point of Cultivation? Just get rid of your Cultivation and be a normal person already.’
The man holding Jocelyn Grant glared at the standing Mr. and Mrs. Grant. "Jocelyn’s health is already poor. If anything happens to her, I’ll have you all buried with her."
"Hades, forget it. I don’t mind. I ca back this ti to tell them sothing."
As Jocelyn Grant spoke, she stepped forward. She had already imagined their reaction when they learned that Celeste Grant had been "defiled" by an Evil Cultivator and was now pregnant.
"Uncle, has my cousin not returned yet?"
Hearing this,
Celeste Grant knew what she was planning.
Mr. and Mrs. Grant exchanged a look. They wanted to see just what this ungrateful wretch was going to say.
"Go on. What about Celeste?"
Jocelyn Grant glanced at them and said, "Uncle, I suppose you don’t know yet. My cousin has been fooling around with a bunch of Evil Cultivators out there. She’s even pregnant with an Evil Cultivator’s child. I told her to co ho, but she just wouldn’t listen. She’s still mixed up with them now."
Celeste Grant’s parents couldn’t listen to any more.
"How dare you say that!" Mrs. Grant exploded. "Wasn’t it you, colluding with that child from the Yardley Family, who threw Celeste to the Evil Cultivators? If soone hadn’t saved her, my daughter would have been truly ruined by you!"
"You ungrateful wretch, you still dare to co back! Why did I ever raise you? If I could choose again, I’d rather have raised a pig than you! At least you can slaughter a pig for at. Raising you was just a waste of food."
From the shadows, Nerida’s eyes lit up.
’The matriarch is amazing.’
’She’s a natural at cursing people out.’
"You wretched girl, you tried to harm my Celeste! I’ll fight you to the death!"
As she spoke,
Mrs. Grant whirled her hand, gathering Magic to launch an attack at Jocelyn Grant. Even though she knew she was no match for them, at that mont, she and her husband only wanted to get justice for their daughter.
"Insolence."
The man beside Jocelyn Grant waved his hand, unleashing the power of his Golden Core Realm Cultivation at Celeste Grant’s mother. "You dare make Jocelyn cry? I will annihilate your entire family."
Just as his attack reached Mrs. Grant, it was blocked by another force. In the next instant, he was sent flying by the opponent’s overwhelmingly powerful Cultivation.
’Dammit... How can there be a Nascent Soul Stage expert in a small place like this?’
Nerida’s figure appeared, and she imdiately cursed, "Where did this dog co from, daring to bark so brazenly here?"
Elder Lawson also appeared, fuming.
"You? You dare talk about annihilating our Bloodfiend Den? Kill our Madam’s entire family? You must have a death wish."
’Annihilating the Madam’s family? What’s the difference between that and annihilating the entire Bloodfiend Den? After all, the Madam’s family now includes The Exalted One and the Young Master.’
Jocelyn Grant instinctively took a step back when the people suddenly appeared. She looked at the man who had been sent flying, her face full of distress.
"Hades, are you alright?"
"Who are you people?"
Celeste Grant stepped out from the shadows.
She looked at Jocelyn with a smirk.
"Jocelyn Grant."
HEH HEH HEH...
A sinister smile spread across her face.
"We et again. There’s a saying, ’It’s the thought that counts.’ And here you are, coming all this way just to serve your head on a platter. Tell , how should I entertain you to show my gratitude?"
When Jocelyn Grant saw her, she was instinctively afraid. After all, she had suffered at her hands several tis already.
