Chapter 92: Chapter 90: He Says It’s Impossible, but Calls Them Father-in-law and Mother-in-law
Elder Lawson stepped forward and said respectfully, "The Exalted One, this is our first official visit. Making it a bit more festive shows how much we value the madam. More importantly, it will help you make a good impression on her parents."
’Make a good impression? Have you listened to the nonsense you’re spouting?’ He was the grand Sect Leader of the greatest of The Demonic Sects, The Blood-Venerate who killed without batting an eye. Did he really need to curry favor with others?
Nerida spoke up. "The Exalted One, they’re not just ’others.’ They’re your father-in-law and mother-in-law. We must show them the proper respect. Many of the brothers under our command would kill for a chance to curry favor with their in-laws, but they don’t even have the opportunity. You have a wife—you should count yourself lucky."
He flicked his sleeve.
So be it!
"Just this once."
’It’s only for the sake of that woman and the kid.’
The Bloodfiend Den’s ship was imnse. For those standing below, it blotted out the sun and sky as it hovered in the air.
And then there were the black-robed Cultivators, hovering in mid-air. Any one of them was at least at the Foundation Establishnt or Golden Core Stage. People in a small place like this would normally never see so many Cultivators at or above the Foundation Establishnt and Golden Core Stages at once.
"The Chadwick Family of Mirewood respectfully welcos Your Excellency."
"The Forrest Family of Mirewood respectfully welcos Your Excellency."
"The Grant Family of Mirewood and its disciples respectfully welco Your Excellency..."
In The Cultivation World, if you lacked strength, survival ant knowing your place. Debating the rits of The Righteous Path versus The Demonic Path was a luxury for the great powers. It had nothing to do with people at the bottom like them.
So if you, a complete nobody, ran up to a major power from The Demonic Path and declared, "Evil heretics, everyone has a duty to execute you," then congratulations, you’ve just won yourself a fun little ga of ’Clan Eradication.’
In this world,
the strong were revered.
Just then,
from the Spiritual Ship hanging in the sky, a staircase ford of clouds descended, layer by layer. But the staircase bypassed them completely, extending toward the other side—to the doorstep of Celeste Grant’s ho.
A group of figures began to slowly descend the Cloud Ladder from the ship. The man in the lead was tall and slender, dressed in black robes embroidered with ancient golden patterns. The wind caught his clothes, making them billow around him.
He had sharp, up-swept eyes, a high-bridged nose, and features so fine they seed painted on. His handso face was like sothing out of a masterpiece.
Javier Sinclair rarely appeared in public, so most people only knew of him through rumors. Very few had ever seen him in person.
So when he appeared, those who had never seen Javier Sinclair before were all guessing at his identity. As for the few who had seen him, they didn’t even dare to breathe.
At that mont, the Family Head of the Lawson Family was already trembling. "It’s him..."
Soone beside him didn’t recognize the man and whispered, "Brother Lawson, you know him? Who is he? Look at this grand display."
"He is The Exalted One of the Bloodfiend Den."
The Blood-Venerate?
Hearing this, the people around him imdiately lowered their heads, a cold sweat breaking out on their skin.
Javier Sinclair slowly descended the Cloud Ladder, his gaze sweeping calmly over the kneeling crowd below.
He raised his hand slightly, and Elder Lawson, who was standing at his side, stepped forward. He announced, "Our Exalted One has co to visit the madam’s family. All unrelated parties may withdraw."
Hearing this, the crowd below felt as if they’d heard sothing unbelievable.
’The Archfiend has a wife?’
’And she’s a girl from our Mirewood? When did this happen? How did we not know? But now isn’t the ti to worry about that.’
They were just relieved that these people hadn’t co seeking revenge. That was good enough.
The mont Elder Lawson spoke,
the aura of a Late-stage Nascent Soul Cultivator spread out. The oppressive might of this aura pinned everyone present to the spot, not daring to move a muscle.
After he retracted his aura, the crowd quickly dispersed like a receding tide. In a few monts, only The Grants remained; everyone else was gone.
Watching the Cloud Ladder bypass their main Grant Family residence and extend toward a remote area behind it, the Grant Family Head stared at the spot, completely baffled.
"What place is that?"
The person beside him hurriedly replied.
"That’s the second master’s ho."
"They’re living in a place like that?"
"Family Head, have you forgotten? You were the one who said the second master had no hope of a breakthrough and that his daughter was just a common person unable to practice Cultivation. You said it was a waste for them to occupy a good spot in the family compound and made them give up their residence. That’s why the second master’s family moved there..."
’Why would those people go to Old Second’s house? What’s going on? It can’t be... The revered Blood-Venerate of the greatest of The Demonic Sects couldn’t possibly have taken a liking to that useless daughter of his.’
He shook his head slightly.
"No, impossible."
’I must be overthinking things!’
「At the sa ti.」
「On the other side.」
Elder Lawson, who had accompanied Javier Sinclair, looked down at the tiny courtyard below. He couldn’t help but speak up, "The madam’s parents live in a place like this? It’s so small and dilapidated."
Nerida nodded slightly.
"Yes. There isn’t even a Defensive Array around. The madam used to live here with her parents."
Javier Sinclair frowned slightly.
’How could that woman’s parents live in such a decrepit place? This is a direct slap in my face. It’s not like my great Demonic Sect can’t afford to support them.’
"When we leave, bring them with us."
"Yes, The Exalted One..."
They were all Cultivators.
Although Celeste Grant’s parents had very low Cultivation, they still sensed the arrival of Javier Sinclair and his entourage. After all, the aura of so many powerful experts descending, even if intentionally suppressed, was still terrifying.
At the door of the Grant ho,
little Aaron Sinclair, held in Mr. Grant’s arms, looked up at the sky and began waving his small hands.
"Daddy... Daddy..."
"Grandpa, that’s my daddy."
Mr. Grant looked up at the dark, oppressive mass in the sky, his feelings too complex to describe.
「These past few days.」
Although little Aaron Sinclair still mumbled and had trouble with enunciation, he could now speak in proper sentences. Of course, he couldn’t speak too quickly, or it would just co out as a stream of gibberish that you couldn’t understand at all.
Hearing his son call for him,
Javier Sinclair’s figure flickered, and in the next instant, he was standing before Mr. and Mrs. Grant. With him were Elder Lawson and his followers.
Once they were on the ground, Elder Lawson stepped forward and bowed politely to the couple.
"Greetings, Master Grant, Madam Grant."
Behind him, the black-robed n bowed in unison.
"Greetings, Master Grant, Madam Grant."
Celeste Grant’s parents, who had never witnessed such a spectacle, grew flustered. They quickly waved their hands. "No, please, there’s no need for such formality."
"Yes, since you’re here, just make yourselves at ho."
’Are these people smiling? Why does it feel so sinister? I’m breaking out in a cold sweat.’
In truth, these disciples of the Bloodfiend Den were genuinely trying their best to smile in order to make a good impression on the madam’s parents. It’s just that so of their smiles didn’t exactly look like they belonged to good people.
Javier Sinclair raised a hand.
"Elder Lawson and Nerida will stay. The rest of you may withdraw."
"Yes, The Exalted One."
