Chapter 91: Chapter 89: There Is a Kind of Cold Called This Lord Feels Cold
"A man who can’t even win back his woman, who can only watch as she has a baby with soone else... that’s just pathetic. What’s the point of a good-for-nothing like that? He might as well just castrate himself."
Hearing this, Celeste Grant sighed again. He really had a mouth on him.
’Castrate himself?’
"Exalted One, with a personality like yours, you could only ever be the third-rate villain in a storybook, never the hero."
’And in this story, wasn’t Javier Sinclair the resident gloomy archfiend?’
Javier Sinclair spoke up, "Storybook? If anyone dares to write about , I’ll twist their head off."
At this, he paused slightly and leaned closer to her. "You brought that up... who is it you want to marry and have a baby with?"
His deep voice rang coolly beside her ear.
Celeste Grant froze for a mont, a smile touching her eyes.
Her fingers slowly traced a path up his chest.
"So, Exalted One... you like ?"
And just like that, he fell silent.
The room was quiet, filled only with his breathing and the beating of their two hearts.
Javier Sinclair’s face was cold and he said nothing, her last question drifting through his mind.
’Do I like her?’
His heart skipped a beat, but his expression remained impassive as he said, "No. You’re overthinking it."
"Am I overthinking it?"
Celeste Grant murmured under her breath.
She smiled to herself.
’What a man. He never says what he really ans.’
’If he didn’t like , he wouldn’t have co rushing over so eagerly.’
’If he didn’t like , would he be kissing and hugging ?’
At that thought, she sighed dramatically and waved her hand. "Fine, if you don’t like , you don’t like . My mistake. I actually thought The Exalted One liked , and I was even considering whether I should like you back. But since you don’t, then never mind."
The mont her words fell, she felt a grip tighten on her waist—his hand had seized it. eting his gaze, she saw him staring at her, his eyes dark and sullen.
"Hah! As if I care."
He gave an awkward, cold snort and angrily turned his back to her.
’He says he doesn’t care, yet he’s already mad.’
’What an act!’
Celeste Grant smiled faintly and turned her back to him as well. "My little treasure is still the cutest. A big kiss from Mommy."
Looking at her sleeping son, she stroked his little face and leaned in to give him a kiss.
Behind her.
Javier Sinclair waited a while, but when Celeste Grant didn’t say anything, he frowned slightly. After a mont of silence, he finally turned back around.
He was t with the back of her head.
Her back was turned to him.
Javier Sinclair’s face was expressionless, and he remained silent.
’Does she think I care?’
"Hah!"
He scooted closer, reached out, grabbed her by the waist, and pulled her into his arms. "I’m a little cold. Let
borrow you for warmth."
Glancing at the arm holding her, Celeste Grant rolled her eyes. "You’re a Demon in the Transcendance Tribulation Stage, and you’re cold?"
Javier Sinclair sneered.
"It’s cold when I say it’s cold."
’You have no sha at all, Archfiend!’
Celeste Grant: "..."
’That... actually made sense. She was speechless.’
Her back was to him.
Held tightly in his embrace, she couldn’t move. All she could do was reach back and push against him.
"I can’t move."
His grip loosened a bit, but he didn’t let her go.
Instead, he waved his hand, and the bed curtains fell.
Celeste Grant had already grown used to sleeping with him again.
By the ti she woke up, it was already daylight.
Under her hand was...
’Are these... pecs?’
Celeste Grant opened her eyes to see that she was clinging to him like an octopus. His sash had co loose, revealing a firm chest. Her gaze traveled down from his handso face to where her fingers rested.
’Ooh la la, giving
this view first thing in the morning... isn’t that a little much?’
Her fingers explored a bit.
She looked up and t his stare. Her hand froze. "Oh, dear. My hand seems to have a mind of its own."
Javier Sinclair glanced at her.
"Hah. You’ve been feeling
up for quite a while."
Celeste Grant: "I... Have I?"
He gripped her shoulders, shifted her to one side of the bed, and then rolled out of bed himself.
His back was to her, his tall, slender figure filling Celeste Grant’s vision.
She appreciatively eyed his form.
’An Archfiend this disheveled had a unique charm to it, a sight outsiders would likely never witness.’
Javier Sinclair straightened his clothes and turned to her. "I’m leaving. I will pay a formal visit to your parents later. It wouldn’t be good to be seen sneaking around like this."
Celeste Grant almost died laughing.
"So you do know you’re sneaking around."
Javier Sinclair blushed.
’He’d just wanted to co see her first, that’s all.’
With a wave of his hand, his figure vanished, leaving only a wisp of black energy drifting in the air.
「For the rest of the morning.」
There was no sign of Javier Sinclair, and even Nerida was out.
It wasn’t until the afternoon that an incredibly impressive-looking Spiritual Ship slowly flew over and ca to a stop above the Grant Family estate.
The Grant Family was just a minor Cultivator Family in so backwater corner. To suddenly see a Spiritual Ship, the kind only owned by major powers, arrive here... It didn’t just startle the Grant Family; the entire city of Mirewood was in an uproar.
In a small place like this, any minor power from either the Immortal or Demonic Paths could wipe them out in an instant. Everyone was in a panic, afraid that soone had gone out and offended a powerful figure who was now here for revenge.
Soon, the Family Heads of several families in Mirewood rushed over. They looked up at the sky, and seeing the spectacle, they were utterly stunned.
The Spiritual Ship was massive, its hull inscribed with all sorts of Rune Arrays that most people had probably never seen before. Near the ship, a dense crowd of cultivators could be seen, so on Sword Flight, others standing on their own Magic Artifacts. They were all dressed in uniform black robes, a vast, oppressive dark mass.
Closer to the Spiritual Ship, avian Spirit Beasts were pulling carts, and those carts were filled to the brim.
"Is that the banner of the Demonic Sects?"
"Look at the banner on the ship! I saw it once when I was traveling. That’s the totem of the Bloodfiend Den, the number one sect of the Demonic Sects!"
The Bloodfiend Den?
Who didn’t know of them? They were powerful enough to contend with the major Immortal Sects. In front of such a power, people like them were nothing, no different from ants by the roadside.
"We’re done for, we’re done for... Who on earth provoked this power? Whoever wants a death wish shouldn’t drag us down with them! Why don’t we gather our clansn and run now?"
"Run my ass! Where could we possibly run in front of experts like that? A re flick of their sleeves could kill a whole swath of us. All we can do now is pray they’re not here for revenge."
The Family Heads of several of Mirewood’s powers huddled together, sweat beading on their foreheads.
However, an observant female cultivator standing beside one of them pointed sothing out.
"Don’t you think that ship looks rather festive? Look at the avian Spirit Beasts pulling the carts—the carts seem to be loaded with gifts, all tied with red ribbons. This doesn’t look like they’re here for revenge."
「Aboard the Spiritual Ship.」
Javier Sinclair stared at all the festive red.
His gaze swept over the large red flowers tied around the Spirit Beasts’ necks and the red strears hanging from the ship, and Javier Sinclair’s expression cracked.
He pressed a hand to his forehead, looking at Elder Lawson and the others with a cold glare.
"Are you sure this is just a ’visit,’ and not a marriage proposal?"
