Chapter 142: Chapter 140: Ten Thousand Souls Banner, I Have Plenty
Countless Wretched Souls within the Ten Thousand Souls Banner bared their fangs and brandished their claws, letting out mournful howls as black mist drifted around him.
As for Timothy Ford, whom Javier had just captured, he had been refined into the lowest-grade Soul Slave—a being completely devoid of consciousness, existing only to be controlled. Even then, Javier didn’t keep him, instead allowing a soul servant within the Ten Thousand Souls Banner to devour him.
Nothing was left.
He was utterly annihilated.
The Ten Thousand Souls Banner is a fairly common type of Magic Treasure on The Demonic Path, used primarily by Demon Cultivators for Soul Refining and imprisoning souls. However, due to the risk of backlash, they are incredibly difficult to control. As a result, even among Demon Cultivators, few actually use them.
Of course, Ten Thousand Souls Banners are also graded.
They range from the most common Level 1 to the highest 12th Rank. Above that is the kind Javier Sinclair uses: the Emperor Level Ten Thousand Soul Banner.
Celeste Grant’s gaze fell upon the Ten Thousand Souls Banner in his hand. Pointing at the runes etched upon it, she couldn’t help but say, "The color of this Ten Thousand Souls Banner, and these runes... they look pretty imposing."
’That’s what she’s focused on?’
Javier Sinclair: "..."
’The mother of his child... was she really this interested in the color of his Ten Thousand Souls Banner? Everyone else who saw it was terrified and kept a wide berth, but she looked at it with what seed to be genuine fondness. So, we really are a good match.’
His gaze swept over her as he asked, "You like it?"
Celeste Grant smiled faintly and teased, "I do. Does that an you’re going to give it to ?"
Javier Sinclair’s eyes rested on her face.
He said,
"Why not? If you like it, it’s yours."
"Oh! I was just kidding. Are you really going to give it to ?" Celeste Grant looked surprised, holding a hand up in front of herself. "Isn’t this your Magic Artifact? If you give it to , what will you use?" ’The problem is, even if he gave it to , I wouldn’t know how to use it. I don’t know the first thing about the path of Soul Refining.’
Javier Sinclair shot her a look that seed to say, ’How can you be so dense?’ "It’s just a Ten Thousand Souls Banner. How many do you want? I have plenty more."
With a wave of his hand...
The next mont.
Over a thousand High-Level Ten Thousand Soul Banners materialized before Celeste Grant, many of them Emperor Level. They stood in neat, concentric circles all around her.
At the sight,
Celeste Grant rubbed her eyes.
"So many? What the hell... I always thought each of those Soul-Refining Demon Cultivators only had one Ten Thousand Souls Banner. Are you running a wholesale operation here?"
Javier Sinclair looked puzzled.
"Wholesale?"
Celeste Grant waved her hand dismissively.
"Buying one is retail. Buying a lot is wholesale."
Javier Sinclair glanced up at the rows of Ten Thousand Soul Banners and cleared his throat.
"It’s alright. It’s not that many."
Hearing this,
Celeste Grant’s lip twitched.
At that mont, no one could possibly comprehend the complex swirl of emotions she was feeling.
’I guess my worldview was too narrow.’
’I never see him use a Ten Thousand Souls Banner, so I just assud he only had the one. The rumors all say he wields *a* Ten Thousand Souls Banner, singular. Hahaha, so this is how many he actually has?’
Black mist swirled around the fluttering banners, and Celeste Grant felt a chill run down her spine. ’The number one Demon Cultivator in the world! He really is sothing else.’
She gestured at the banners before them.
She still couldn’t help but marvel.
"So these are all yours? You really didn’t just find them sowhere?"
’Then again, if you could just find High-Level Magic Treasures like these lying around, even mbers of the Righteous Immortal Sects wouldn’t be able to resist temptation.’
The Ten Thousand Soul Banners all looked more or less the sa, but a closer look revealed that the runes on them were different colors.
"Mm," Javier Sinclair affird.
He said in a low voice, "I crafted so in my spare ti, just in case. So have been used, while others are still empty. Pick whichever one you like."
’He rarely used the Ten Thousand Soul Banners, but they were necessary from ti to ti. After all, there were too many people courting death, and he couldn’t very well stop soone who was determined to die.’
Looking at the flags before them, he pointed to one in particular. "This one is good. It contains quite a few High-Level soul servants I refined in the past, all of which you can command. If you ever run into Evil Cultivators, you can use it."
As he spoke, he traced a rune in the air with his hand and tapped his finger between her eyebrows. In that instant, the incantation to control the Ten Thousand Souls Banner flooded into Celeste Grant’s mind.
"This Ten Thousand Souls Banner has my mark on it, so it won’t cause you any backlash."
Celeste Grant didn’t hesitate.
She smiled faintly and nodded.
"Alright, I’ll take this one then."
’In this dangerous Cultivation World, it was never a bad idea to have more life-saving treasures.’
She held out her hand.
The Ten Thousand Souls Banner flew toward her, shrinking until it floated just above her palm.
Celeste Grant stored it away.
"You should put the rest of these away."
Javier Sinclair: "Alright."
He made the other Ten Thousand Soul Banners disappear.
Celeste Grant chuckled mischievously. "That’s hilarious. I really thought your Ten Thousand Souls Banner was a unique Magic Artifact, not that you had a whole collection."
Javier Sinclair glanced at her. "Most of them are still empty. I don’t use them often... unless soone cos looking for death."
’He’s a Demon Cultivator with principles.’
Thinking of Timothy Ford, Celeste Grant smirked inwardly.
KEKEKE!
’Another one of the heroine’s n is dead. Oh my, if this keeps up... the children the heroine in the book was supposed to have during her three hundred years of Cultivation won’t be born anymore.’
’In a way, I’ve actually done a good deed. Otherwise, my son might have beco the next Young Master Dalton, falling in love with every girl he ets. Or my daughter would go out on an adventure and bring ho a man who’s practically her brother! Hahahaha.’
’Although the book never explicitly stated any of that, it didn’t stop
from speculating that it was a strong possibility.’
With that thought,
"Hahaha, this feels great!"
She was in a great mood.
Celeste Grant walked over and hugged Javier Sinclair’s arm, then stood on her tiptoes to plant a kiss on his cheek. "You Archfiend, why do I like you so much?"
Javier Sinclair froze.
’Feeling her joy, a sense of pleasure blood within him. So this is what they call being happy because she’s happy? I can feel this way too... It’s not so bad.’
Javier Sinclair’s gaze shifted to her face, eting her smiling eyes. He reached out, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her into his embrace.
He leaned in close, his voice a low murmur. "Is that all?"
’So, his subtext was that he wanted sothing more?’
Celeste Grant smiled, placing a hand lightly on his chest. She pressed her body against his and whispered, "Otherwise... what else does The Exalted One desire?"
Her fingers hooked the lapel of his robes as she gently caressed his firm chest. "Tell . Let’s see if I can grant your little wish."
Javier Sinclair’s eyes fell to her hand.
His arm tightened around her waist.
He lowered his head slightly to et her smiling face.
He pulled her closer and, lowering his head, captured her lips in a kiss.
Celeste Grant looked up at his face, now impossibly close.
She reached out and wrapped her arms around his waist...
After the kiss ended,
His arm was still wrapped around her waist.
He looked at her, his gaze quiet.
No, it was more than a look—he was staring.
