“What nonsense?” the General flares, “I’m not the one asking for their money. They insist on giving it! If I refuse, it’s akin to refusing their goodwill!”
Ms. Ge scoffs, “Little Seventh, hear this man. Can you believe him? If you’re so capable, why not gift your writing to the Emperor and the Crown Prince? Let’s see if they’re eager to pay for it.”
Jiang Ning chuckled, “It’s hard to say for the Emperor, but the Crown Prince would definitely pay. Aunt, please stop disparaging Uncle. His calligraphy is really good—I even wondered if it was a masterpiece by a known master.”
“There, there!” the General exclaid with praise, “Indeed, us Jiangs have an eye for art! And you are a woman with long hair and short insight!”
Ms. Ge got furious, “I gave you four kids, and now you call a woman of different surna? Fine, I will return to my parent’s house tomorrow, you can live on your own!”
The General remained completely unfazed, “Your parents are both gone. You intend to return to your maiden ho just to bother your siblings, nieces, and nephews?”
Ms. Ge said, “…Fine, then I’ll just go to our second child’s place. I don’t believe they will also despise and refuse to let stay.”

“Seventh Sister, disregard that old lady. The older she gets, the more dramatic she becos.” Jiang Mubai, still full of enthusiasm, called out to Jiang Ning, “Seventh Sister, co over here and tell your Uncle more about what’s exceptional in my calligraphy.”
“Uncle, why don’t you go and comfort Aunt? She takes care of the household all by herself while you’re away. She’s been through so much.” Jiang Ning handed him his tea and chuckled, “Don’t put on a false front in front of your daughter.”
Jiang Mubai took the tea and sipped it, laughing and sighing, “Daughters are always thoughtful. Ah, it’s a pity that your second sister married far away and seldom cos back. I regret it now. She should have married soone close by, just like you. Being able to see her regularly is what truly matters.”
“Second Sister always cares about what’s going on at ho. When she’s not around, I’ll fulfill her filial duties. If there’s anything you or Aunt need to do, just say it. Don’t be shy.”
“Why are you so considerate today?” The General eyed his sweet-talking niece, “Co on, you’re trying to ask for a favor, aren’t you?”
“It’s nothing major.” Jiang Ning put so pastries in front of him, “I just wanted to ask you for sobody.”
“Who might that be?”
“Gufeng.” Jiang Ning began to massage his back, “Uncle, I really like Gufeng. Could you please let have him?”
