Chapter 729: Chapter 718: Wu Xirui Clinging to Qiao Jing
Eventually, Zhan Qipei bought the plot of land for two hundred million.
Wu Xirui also stood up satisfied, straightened his suit, and before leaving, revealed a thought-provoking smile.
“Zhan Qipei, this is just the beginning,” he said.
Zhan Qipei sat in his place without speaking, but thoughtfully stroked his chin.
After Wu Xirui had left, Tang Yan cautiously observed Zhan Qipei’s expression and tentatively asked,
“Boss… shall we go back?”
Zhan Qipei glanced at Tang Yan, then curved the corners of his lips, stood up, and walked outside.
He had known all along that Wu Xirui had co to cause trouble, deliberately raising the price. Although he had bought the land above his budget, the return he would get later would be far more than two hundred million.
After all, he was not short of those two hundred million to invest in building a shopping mall, and furthermore, Zhan Family’s mall was right next to this plot of land, which could later be connected for expansion.
In fact, he was the ultimate winner.
Shortly afterwards, Zhan Qipei received a call from Su Manhan.
“Qipei, co back to Purple Garden for dinner tonight! Your grandpa has sothing to say,” she said.
Upon hearing Su Manhan’s words, Zhan Qipei responded, but also sensed sothing was off.
His mother had unexpectedly, for the first ti ever, not asked him to bring Qiao Jing along?
Doubt flickered in Zhan Qipei’s eyes, then he slowly said,
“I’ll bring Qiao Jing with .”
On the other end, Su Manhan made a “hey” sound.
“Qiao Jing is already on her way back, how could I not invite her? I called her first, then I called you. Don’t worry, if anyone was to be forgotten, it wouldn’t be Qiao Jing.”
Hearing this, Zhan Qipei helplessly touched his forehead and responded.
Inside Purple Garden, the family was sitting at the dining table.
Qiao Jing originally was eating quietly, but upon hearing Zhan Yuanshan speak, she put down her chopsticks.
Zhan Yuanshan stroked his beard and said with heartfelt emotion,
“Qipei, I’ve heard about the recent affairs of the company, but I’m relieved knowing you’ve handled them well.”
After this statent, everyone at the table had a slightly more serious expression.
Qiao Jing slightly furrowed her brows, not expecting Wu Xirui to act so swiftly.
Zhan Qipei knew he couldn’t hide these matters from his family, so he never intended to.
His eyes deepened and his lips lightly parted.
“Grandpa, I can handle it on my own,” he said.
He knew not to underestimate Wu Xirui’s power, although most of his main forces were in the M country. Wu Xirui’s company in M country kept sending resources back ho and gradually began to take over territory in the capital.
But Zhan Corporation wasn’t weak either. Rooted in the capital for decades, how could they be defeated by a company that had returned to the country not long ago?
Zhan Yuanshan looked at Zhan Qipei for a long ti, finally sighed.
“I know, I trust you. Actually, Wu Xirui isn’t a bad kid either; he’s just too competitive, exactly like his mother. Indeed, I was sowhat unfair to Yingying back then. However, if I had to choose again, I would still entrust Zhan’s business to Qipei to manage.”
As Zhan Yuanshan said this, he paused, his expression growing more somber.
“This child is too ambitious, and Yingying was the sa, rebellious in nature with thorns that were too sharp. It was because of this that I worried if the managent of Zhan Corporation were entrusted to your aunt, it might be ruined in her hands. After all, her managent philosophy and the company’s current model are completely polar opposites. If there was a sudden shift in managent philosophy, the company might not survive,” he said.
After hearing Zhan Yuanshan’s words, Qiao Jing slightly narrowed her phoenix eyes, a hint of depth crossing her gaze.
This was the first ti she had co to understand the situation back then; she had only heard a rough outline before. Now, hearing Grandpa Zhan elaborate, not giving the company to Wu Xirui’s mother back then was the right choice.
Just as everyone was having a lively conversation, Qiao Jing’s phone suddenly rang.
All eyes in the room were drawn to Qiao Jing, making her sowhat embarrassed.
Qiao Jing frowned and quickly turned her phone to silent.
“Sorry.”
She had rushed to Purple Garden directly from the institute after receiving a call from Su Manhan, forgetting to turn on the silence mode on the way.
Su Manhan quickly waved her hand.
“No problem, why apologize? You first check the ssage. If it’s urgent, I’ll have Qipei drive you. We don’t mind,” she said.
Sitting next to Su Manhan, Zhan Nanqing nearly choked with anger upon hearing these words.
She had just made a motion to go get her phone and had been scolded half to death by her mother, and now, saying they didn’t mind and even letting Qiao Jing leave straight away was too much.
Her brother had a wife and forgot his sister, and her mother had a daughter-in-law and forgot her daughter.
Qiao Jing had originally intended to turn off her phone completely, but then she saw that the person who had sent the ssage was actually Wu Xirui, the focal point of the discussion.
She was silent for a few seconds, intending to open and glance at the ssage before shutting off her phone.
After unlocking her phone, Qiao Jing casually glanced at the ssage Wu Xirui had sent.
“I’ve been feeling unwell these past few days; can you co and check on now?” it read.
Qiao Jing deeply furrowed her brows and glanced at the other people sitting at the dining table.
She hesitated for a while but then decided to put her phone away, planning to respond to Wu Xirui’s ssage after finishing her al.
On the other side, seeing that he hadn’t received a response from Qiao Jing, Wu Xirui swirled his wine glass in one hand while rhythmically tapping the table with the other.
He glanced at the unresponsive phone screen, and the smile on his face slowly turned cold.
After a brief silence, Wu Xirui opened the keyboard and sent another ssage.
When Qiao Jing felt her phone vibrate silently with the receipt of the ssage, she pursed her red lips.
This ti, she didn’t hesitate, and unnoticed by others, she turned on her phone and saw another ssage from Wu Xirui.
“Because of the thing with Zhan Qipei, are you going to leave to die?” it read.
Seeing this ssage, she didn’t know whether she should be angry or even angrier.
She was worried that Wu Xirui was indeed in a dire physical condition, and since she couldn’t set her mind at ease altogether, she couldn’t eat well, which is why she checked his ssage again.
But Wu Xirui’s words seed carelessly nonchalant, not clarifying the actual discomfort in his health but instead bringing up Zhan Qipei.
Qiao Jing’s temples throbbed heavily as she replied to his ssage.
“Each matter in its own right, I will see to your treatnt through to the end. After work tomorrow, I will co to check on you,” she replied.
As a physician, she could not possibly abandon treating Wu Xirui due to the issues with Zhan Qipei; that would be too irresponsible.
When Wu Xirui received her response, a satisfied smile finally appeared on his face. He downed the wine in his glass and began tapping the keyboard rapidly.
“Why can’t you co today?” he wrote.
