The storm howled as Latios drifted to a halt before Logan.
The mysterious figure riding on its back descended as well, and as the strange black cloak peeled away, the Pokémon hidden beneath was finally revealed.
"ew~"
w giggled like a mischievous child, covering its mouth as it circled Logan several tis in the air.
"Well done, w."
At Logan's praise, w floated happily in front of him, using psychic power to form a pink, glowing heart. The heart drifted forward and gently pressed itself against Logan before bursting into sparkling light.
Earlier, it had been Logan's instruction for w to play the role of the "mysterious attacker" in Alto Mare.
With w's abilities as a Legendary Pokémon, creating psychic pressure that blanketed an entire city was effortless.
As for the battles against Latios and Latias—those had rely been a performance.
Thunderous and terrifying on the surface, but hollow underneath.
Even Latios's agonized screams while being "suppressed" by psychic attacks had been nothing more than an illusion.
From start to finish, Logan had remotely guided w through everything.
That was precisely why he had chosen w.
Even if sothing went wrong—if the cloak slipped or the disguise failed—w could instantly transform into a human or another Pokémon, preventing exposure.
And as a Pokémon of extraordinary intelligence, Latios's acting had also t Logan's expectations.
"Not going to ask why I did all this, Latios?" Logan asked calmly as he patted w's head and returned it to its Poké Ball.
Latios shook its head.
"…I can sense that everything you're doing is for the sake of saving the world. As for how you do it, I have no desire to know."
"Hahaha!" Logan laughed loudly, then sighed.
"This is exactly why I prefer Pokémon over humans."
If Logan had been dealing with people instead of Pokémon, attacking Alto Mare while hiding his true identity would have invited endless suspicion—unless those people were blind fanatics.
But Pokémon were different.
Once they chose a Trainer, they offered absolute loyalty.
They did not question whether their actions were right or wrong.
"There are things I can't do openly," Logan said quietly. "I need an identity that can operate in the shadows. The world doesn't know that I possess w—and with w's abilities, it's the perfect partner for that role."
He lifted the Soul Dew, watching its radiant light shimr, and chuckled.
"…And now I've reclaid the Soul Dew and 'forcibly controlled' Latios. From this point on, Latios can openly act as the mysterious attacker's Pokémon. No one will suspect anything."
Logan raised the Soul Dew high.
The Soul Dew was ford from the crystallized souls of Latios and Latias—but in truth, it never possessed the power to control them.
No one else knew that.
By exploiting this imbalance of information, Logan allowed the world to believe the Soul Dew could dominate Latios. From now on, w and Latios could act under an alternate identity, stirring chaos wherever necessary.
"Until I obtain sufficient power, the identity of Kanto Champion is still necessary. The League's influence is sothing I must use," Logan continued.
"But for my ultimate goal, there will be monts when I must stand against the League. When that happens… this second identity will be indispensable."
He then took out both the Eon Flute and the Soul Dew.
"These were the witnesses to the contract between you two and Alto Mare. From today onward, that contract ends. Its authority now belongs to ."
Latios and Latias nodded.
The Soul Dew floated into the air, split cleanly into two, and dissolved back into their bodies.
The Soul Dew had originally been ford from twenty percent of each of their power. With its return, that fragnt of their souls was restored—and both Pokémon instantly regained that lost strength.
They were complete once more.
That was the true reason Logan had seized the Soul Dew.
Not only to end the ancient contract—but to restore Latios and Latias to their full Legendary state.
"The Eon Flute can't just summon you," Logan said, gripping it tightly. "It must have another purpose."
Latias fluttered over and explained, wings gently swaying.
"The Eon Flute is proof of our bond with humans. If soone can connect their life energy with ours through it, they can awaken the power hidden within us."
Her bright crimson eyes shone with excitent and anticipation for the future.
"I see…" Logan murmured thoughtfully.
"No wonder it felt familiar. It's similar to a ga Stone."
He finally understood.
The Eon Flute functioned like a ga Stone—capable of resonating with a Key Stone.
That "unknown power" was ga Evolution.
That "life energy connection" was the bond between Trainer and Pokémon.
"Latios, you'll stay hidden for now. Unless absolutely necessary, I won't use you openly as the Kanto Champion. Latias will remain with —I won't mistreat her. With my team, your combined power will be even more effective."
In simpler terms:
Your sister is in my care. Don't worry.
Latios nodded. After witnessing such an elaborate sche, it understood its role perfectly—to operate in the shadows alongside w. As a Pokémon, fulfilling its duty was enough.
Logan produced a jet-black Ultra Ball and captured Latios.
With w and Latios, his Psychic division now consisted of two Legendary Pokémon—enough to guarantee overwhelming combat power.
Latios's dual Dragon and Psychic typing allowed Logan's Dragon Force and psychic abilities to resonate with it perfectly. Combined with the telepathic link between Latios and Latias, Logan could command them even across vast distances.
Still, two were not enough.
Legendary Pokémon were the fastest way for Logan to increase his strength.
As he considered which Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon might be easiest to locate next, his Pokédex suddenly vibrated.
He glanced at the display—and froze.
"Ergency broadcast—
Pewter City, Cerulean City, Cinnabar Island, and Celadon City in the Kanto Region are currently under large-scale attacks by wild Pokémon!"
