Since Genesect could attempt to beco a First-class Legendary by absorbing the energy of an entire secret realm, Julian wondered if his tagross could do the sa.

Facing Julian's question, w shook its head: "Becoming a god isn't that simple. Genesect won’t succeed."

If all it took was draining one Top-tier secret realm, then the thod would be far too easy. Not just one—even ten wouldn’t work.

"Then how does one actually beco a god?" Julian asked quickly.

w’s words had already killed the crazy thought he’d just had. Still, if w had said it was possible, then in the future, when tagross hit the peak of the Champion tier with no hope of further breakthrough—Julian absolutely would’ve gone through with it.

w shook its head again, indicating it didn't know. After all, it had been a First-class Legendary since the mont it was born. Asking it how to beco one was sowhat unfair.

Julian didn’t press further and instead asked, "w, we’re planning to leave this secret realm. Aren’t you going back to the World Tree?"

Now that he knew the secret realm's destruction was caused by Genesect in its attempt to break through to First-class Legendary status—that ant its current strength had to be at the peak of Champion tier, level 100.

How was he supposed to fight that? Even if all his Pokémon joined the battle, they wouldn’t stand a chance. So, Julian imdiately gave up on the mission.

Unless w was willing to help, but Julian didn’t want to casually waste his goodwill with w on Pannar.

Most people were selfish, and Julian was no exception. He wanted his relationship with w to be sothing he could rely on in truly critical monts—whether for himself, his family, or Drakoria.

As for Pannar? Yeah, forget it.

w tilted its head, puzzled: "Leaving already? Even though tagross can’t beco a god by absorbing the secret realm’s energy, it can still quickly reach the Champion-level."

Julian imdiately stopped in his tracks.

He and tagross both turned to look at w, their eyes gleaming intensely.

"Really?"

w nodded.

w: "But this requires Genesect’s cooperation."

"How?" Julian asked.

w: "Just let it transfer so of the energy it has absorbed into tagross."

Julian was speechless. That Genesect surely wasn’t so kind-hearted saint, and Julian had no life-saving favor to call in. Why on earth would it hand over its precious energy just to help tagross beco a Champion?

There was no reason at all. Especially since Genesect needed that energy to break through itself. Helping tagross would only slow down its own progress.

w: "I can help with that."

As it spoke, it waved its little paw—and in an instant, Julian, tagross, and Celebi vanished from the spot.

The next second, Julian and his Pokémon appeared in an unfamiliar place—w materializing alongside them.

Before Julian could even ask where they were, he spotted a purple, saucer-like Pokémon lying on a stone platform not far away.

---

The sleeping Pokémon before them was Genesect. So w had actually brought them here.

As Julian had guessed, Genesect was indeed level 100, just one step away from godhood—though that single step was impossibly difficult.

w had said it would not succeed, and Julian believed it.

w: "This is one hundred kiloters underground."

Julian’s eyes widened. No wonder his Dowsing Machine hadn’t found anything. Given Genesect’s potential, if it had been within the Dowsing Machine’s 50-kiloter range, it would have lit up with a massive red dot. But buried twice that depth? Of course nothing showed up.

"ta~"

tagross: "The Steel-type energy here is incredibly dense." Follow current novels on novelꞁire

Since Genesect was absorbing the entire secret realm’s energy and was itself a Bug/Steel-type, it had converted the energy into Bug- and Steel-type energy. For a Steel-type Pokémon like tagross, staying here naturally felt extrely comfortable.

Julian was starting to piece it together. He turned to w and asked, "Do you an for tagross to stay here and absorb the Steel-type energy?"

w nodded: "Yes."

"Then how long will it take for tagross to break through to the Champion tier?" Julian asked.

w thought for a mont: "About a year."

Julian’s face darkened. 'This guy sure is unreliable!'

The secret realm only had four days left before destruction—where was tagross supposed to find a whole year? Wasn’t this just suggesting that tagross should be buried along with the secret realm?

w swayed its tail, covering its mouth with a playful smile: "I will help tagross. Release all your other Steel-types too."

Though still sowhat skeptical, Julian released all his Steel-type Pokémon.

"Will breaking through like this have any side effects—like leaving them stuck forever with no room for future progress?" Julian asked worriedly.

If there were any unacceptable side effects, he’d rather not take this shortcut.

With his abilities, if he followed a steady developnt path, it would take at most two or three years for tagross to reach the Champion level.

w: "Don’t worry, your Pokémon have very solid foundations, especially tagross. Nothing bad will happen."

"That’s good then." Julian nodded.

Indeed, his team’s foundations were rock-solid. That was why they could fight opponents of the sa rank as if they were battling rookies.

But that strength ca with a price—each breakthrough required far more ti and resources than ordinary Pokémon.

Then, with a wave of w’s tiny hand, all the Steel-type energy that had originally been flowing toward Genesect was diverted, rushing instead into Julian’s Steel-type Pokémon.

As the massive influx of Steel-type energy poured into their bodies, the Pokémon’s expressions turned euphoric, as if they were on so kind of high.

Julian quickly opened their status panels, monitoring every detail of their physical data. If anything went wrong, he was prepared to stop w imdiately.

But after observing for a while, all of their stats were steadily rising. Nothing seed abnormal.

Only then did Julian feel relieved and turned his attention to Genesect, worried that the lack of Steel-type energy might cause it to wake up.

However, the status panel showed that it was still in a deep slumber. While it could no longer absorb Steel-type energy, it could still draw on Bug-type energy.

Julian had no Bug-types on his team, and suddenly felt a twinge of regret—such a great opportunity was going to waste.

He thought about that Kakuna he had chatted with earlier and wondered why he hadn’t just captured it on a whim.

If he had, it could have enjoyed the entire secret realm’s Bug-type energy all by itself—and soared beyond its limits! Too bad that little guy just didn’t have the fate for it.
