Most Water-type Pokémon had a strong sense of cleanliness—and Tapu Fini was no exception.

With a loud boom, it broke free from the restraints of Psychic. In the next second, thick white mist began pouring out from its body, and in the blink of an eye, it enveloped tagross.
At the sa ti, the mist’s range continued to expand.
Julian quickly had Dragonite retreat out of the affected area.
Within the thick fog, visibility was completely gone, and even the ntal link between Julian and tagross beca faint—so faint it felt like it could break at any mont.
If that link were to break completely, tagross would no longer be able to stay in its ga Evolved state.
“Is that move Mist?” Rowan asked, a little uncertain.
The thick white fog looked like Mist, but sohow felt different from the usual kind he had seen. This one gave him an unsettling feeling deep in his chest.
Tapu Fini’s Ability was Misty Surge, and under its influence, the move Mist had already undergone a transformation.
Normally, Mist was used to protect oneself from stat drops.
But the Mist that Tapu Fini was using now nearly severed Julian’s connection with tagross—and now, even Julian’s voice likely couldn’t reach tagross anymore.
At this mont, deep inside the thick fog, tagross had completely lost all sense of direction. It was clearly flying the entire ti, yet it couldn't escape the fog’s range.

Tapu Fini: “If you surrender, I can lift the mist. Otherwise, the longer it goes on, your Pokémon’s mind might collapse.”
Although Tapu Fini was angry at how tagross had made it so dirty, it had never intended to cripple tagross. As a guardian deity of the island, it was a Pokémon that inherently disliked killing.
This was the complete opposite of soone like Kartana, who would open with a slash to your head and declare, “I will chop your head off!”
Looking at Tapu Fini, who clearly thought the match was over, Julian smiled slightly and said, “Hold on. There might be a surprise.”

Tapu Fini: “How did you break through the mist?”
This enhanced Mist, combined with its Ability, was so potent that even the other three guardian deities could fall for it if they weren’t careful.
Even if they managed to get out on their own, they would suffer major losses in both stamina and ntal energy.
But ga tagross stood there as if nothing had happened. Tapu Fini subconsciously rubbed its eyes, thinking it must be hallucinating.
But when it looked again, ga tagross was still there—completely unhard.
Tapu Fini: “How did you do it?”
To walk out of its Mist unaided and take no damage at all.
ga tagross: “I used my brain.”
And in fact, that was the truth.
Inside the fog, there was no sense of space, no direction, and ti itself was distorted.
Most Pokémon, like humans, had rich emotions, and in a place like that, such emotions beca a weapon that could hurt them.
Because they had feelings, being lost in a space without ti or orientation, alone with no one to talk to, would eventually drive them to a ntal breakdown.

But tagross was different. It had the processing power of a supercomputer and absolute rationality. In such an environnt, it wasn’t swayed by emotions.
So naturally, the fog’s disorienting effects didn’t work on it.
If Julian had sent in any other Pokémon—aside from Slowking—none of them would’ve had more than a slim chance of getting out.
It could be said that Tapu Fini was rather unlucky—its opponent just happened to be tagross.
Julian: “Do you still want to keep fighting?”
At this point, the situation was obvious. Tapu Fini was injured and out of stamina, while ga tagross, though also wounded, was in much better shape overall.
Unless Tapu Fini had so kind of miracle move left—and the stamina to use it—it had no chance of turning the battle around.
Tapu Fini shook its head: “I’ve lost, you can leave the island.”
Although the effect of Aqua Ring was still active and healing its injuries, the wounds weren’t actually the main issue.
It was its stamina—completely drained. Even staying afloat in the air was becoming difficult.
According to their previous agreent, defeating Tapu Fini ant Julian earned the right to leave the island—and now he had done just that.
“If I return to this island later, will I need to battle you again in order to leave?” Julian asked.
Because if he had to fight Tapu Fini every single ti he ca and went, that would be way too troubleso.
Tapu Fini’s face darkened slightly. Luckily, its skin tone was dark enough to hide it.
Tapu Fini: “No need, you may co and go freely from my island.”
It had already lost once—it had no desire to lose a second ti. Besides, the dense fog was its trump card, and it was completely ineffective against tagross.
The only way to defeat tagross was to borrow the power of the island.
