Alex teleported out of Marnie’s penthouse at noon the next day and headed west toward Hamrlocke City, first passing through Route 9 in Outer Spikemuth before continuing onto Route 7 out of Spikemuth City. He hadn’t slept a wink of sleep and yet he was absolutely bursting full of energy. So much so, he decided to run west on his own two feet rather than rely on Arcanine or Mantine.
His sexual encounter with Marnie had led to several new discoveries about a human’s affinity for Pokémon type energy. Specifically, he had learned that there was a compatibility between humans who shared the sa affinity. It was as if humans who attracted certain kinds of Pokémon also attracted certain kinds of people, and apparently Alex and Marnie were a match made in heaven.
He could tell, however, that the attraction was sowhat artificial and could easily be mistaken for love. In fact, if he hadn’t encountered sprit and learned what romantic love truly felt like, he would have called his feelings for Marnie love and considered her his soulmate.
Another insight he had gained was that the energies of people with this compatibility could mix in a way similar to the bond between a Pokémon and a human. A human is empowered by their Pokémon’s energy while the Pokémon is enlightened by the human’s aura. Between humans, the bond was a mixing of their type energies, which explained why Alex felt so energetic despite an entire night of Champion ranked, continuous, brutal sex with Marnie. At that very mont, as he ran along the path between Spikemuth and Hamrlocke, he felt like he was high on adrenaline.
Examining his energy more closely, he could detect Marnie’s Dark type energy flowing through and altering his own. It was as if his energy was being purified and strengthened at the sa ti, giving him enormous bursts of vitality every few minutes or so. He had to run at top speed just to burn off the excess energy.
No doubt Marnie was doing the sa thing in her gym, as her energy was lower in quality than his. This made the mixing of their energy more efficient, producing significantly more vitality for her to burn off. She would probably keep exercising nonstop for the next week to stabilize it.
Lastly, similar to how a Pokémon and their trainer needed to share their energies to build a bond, compatible humans had to do the sa. It was significantly easier, almost automatic, when they shared the sa feelings.
A perfect example of this was the intensely pleasurable and emotionally intimate sex they had, which caused their energies to mix beyond their control. The resulting vitality was so abundant that simply having sex was no longer enough to burn it off.
They had to stop by noon the next day, less than 24 hours after they started, even though they could no doubt have continued for an entire week or even a month. Had they pushed on, they might have suffered severe side effects from excessive vitality, including fatal bleeding or heart failure.
So the pair had no choice but to cut their lovemaking short and start exercising to burn off their excess energies. Now Marnie was running laps on her private track, while Alex headed on foot for Hamrlocke to complete another request from Mustard and also try to find a Max Pokémon to battle. He still hadn’t managed to find one because of all the requests he had to fulfill, so he was planning to handle both during this trip.
Unfortunately, he suddenly found himself the target of an ambush as three Champion ranked trainers surrounded him from the flanks and the back. He kept running, trying to see where this was going until he felt the unmistakable energy of a Master ranked trainer ahead of him.
To the front was a well dressed elderly man in a suit with a straight posture and formidable physique, to the left was a woman wearing a green bikini, to the right was a man in a gi, and behind Alex was a man wearing overalls. He might be stereotyping but he could sowhat tell that the man in front was a Flying type specialist, the woman to the left was a Grass type, the man to the right was a Fighting type, and the man behind him was a Ground type.
Once Alex was completely surrounded, all four trainers released their Pokémon, and he was proven right. The Flying type trainer sent out Braviary, Corviknight, and Togekiss, all Master ranked. The Grass type woman commanded Champion ranked Venusaur, Rillaboom, Leafeon, Tangrowth, Ferrothorn, and Roserade. The Fighting type man unleashed Champion ranked Machamp, Lucario, Conkeldurr, Hawlucha, Crabominable, and Hitmonlee. Finally, the Ground type man released Champion ranked Garchomp, Flygon, Excadrill, Mudsdale, Donphan, and Rhyperior.
They each also released about a dozen assorted Elites of the sa type, except for the old man, who released a dozen Champions. Alex was easily outnumbered two to one and faced opponents of superior quality. Without a doubt, he would lose this battle.
Imdiately, Rotom released all of Alex’s Pokémon in a tight defensive half-circle formation and inhabited the Mauler while deploying drones. The formation curved toward the back, while the front, facing the old man, was occupied by Champions, specifically Raticate, Kommo-o, and Lucario’s attack team. The rest held the rear, with Grim’s attack team taking to the skies alongside Mantine to defend against any aerial bombardnt that might slip through.
Alex stood beside his own attack team as he released the upgraded B.O.M.B., a hexagonal sphere 3??m (9.8??ft) in diater, now filled with enough Explosion energy to guarantee the death of any Master ranked trainer, even if they deployed a Protect rotation. The key was the Feint and Phantom Force energy mixed in, ensuring that any Protect barriers would be destroyed by the explosion.
“You’re either from Team Dominion, the Ravensleigh family, or the Everhart family,” Alex said, noting that they hadn’t even bothered to introduce themselves as they cornered him.
“You killed my grandson,” the old man at the front declared, his tone even and controlled, betraying no hint of emotion.
“The Everhart family then,” Alex said with an understanding nod. “You have to admit, he had it coming.”
“And now, so do you,” the old man replied. “Attack!”
Each enemy trainer’s main team rushed toward Alex’s Pokémon, initiating a chaotic lee. The Elites and the old man’s Champions hung back, spreading out in an encirclent and firing pot shots at Alex’s Pokémon. Their purpose was to ensure that Alex couldn’t escape on his own while also protecting their trainers, swarming anyone who would try to target them.
The old man’s Master ranked Pokémon charged forward, attempting to target Alex directly, but they were intercepted by Alex’s attack team, which ensured they were locked down even if they took flight. Arcanine and Togekiss used Extre Speed to prevent Corviknight and Braviary from moving freely, while Lucario’s team relied on Gallade to Teleport directly onto the Master ranked Togekiss, restricting its movent.
Grim’s team and Mantine, anwhile, took on the old man’s Champion ranked Flying type Pokémon, intercepting their pot shots and canceling them out with sweeping attacks like Breaking Swipe, Dazzling Gleam, Snarl, and Wide Guard. They were losing the exchange, but they managed to weaken the incoming barrage just enough for Alex’s Pokémon to survive.
anwhile, the defense and water teams did their best to stave off the incoming fire from the encirclent while simultaneously patching up the damage from the chaotic lee. It forced Rotom to recall every critically injured Pokémon, heal them with Max Revives or Full Restores, and send them back into the fight.
The enemy trainers did the sa, locking both sides into a deadlock, though Alex’s Pokémon were expending significantly more stamina. It was obvious to everyone that his team wouldn’t last long in this fight.
Alex had to admit that he was caught off guard. There was no way he could win this battle if it continued, and he doubted he could delay it long enough for reinforcents to arrive. He could, however, guarantee that he could stall the fight long enough for the B.O.M.B. to detonate.
He pressed the big red button on the side and began over-energizing each crystal inside. As expected, the growing energy radiating from it began to alarm not only the trainers but also the Pokémon attacking Alex’s team. With only 10 seconds remaining, the old man called for a ceasefire.
“What is that?” the old man asked once all the Pokémon had retreated to their trainers’ sides.
Alex paused the B.O.M.B. with only 3 seconds remaining, making sure the old man and his trainers understood that there was enough energy in it to kill all of them.
“I asked what that device is,” the old man repeated with surprising calm.
“Oh, so now you want to talk?” Alex taunted.
“I will not repeat myself for a third ti.”
“And I don’t see the point in explaining what this device is or what it can do. You’re probably smart enough to figure it out. If only your grandson had your intelligence, he might not have died yesterday.”
The old man narrowed his eyes at Alex as a tense standoff began. Alex had nothing to lose given his current predicant, while the old man still had so will to live.
As for the trainers who had co with him, they were already backing away the way they ca. They were family friends who had been well paid, but certainly not enough to give up their lives for a vendetta. To be honest, they never liked Richard anyway.
“Fine. You want to talk? Let’s talk.”
“Actually,” Alex said with a sneer, “I want to fight. So let’s fight. But if I lose, we all die.”
