In the afternoon, it rained.
The year's end was approaching, and the rain gradually brought a slight chill. The Breeders Association courtyard stood empty, and when occasional gusts of wind blew through, ice ford on the ground.
In the cold weather, Taylor brought his Pokemon Alakazam to practice martial arts while shivering in the yard.
"Alakazam, the colder it gets, the more we should practice. Only in harsh environnts can we develop stronger bodies," Taylor instructed Alakazam.
"Kazam! (Seriously, what use is a strong body for a Psychic Pokemon!)" Alakazam retorted bluntly.
While the human and Pokemon practiced, a black shadow appeared in the Breeders Association sky at near-teleportation speed.
It was a Dragonite, and on its back rode a handso middle-aged man with sharp features and bright eyes. Most distinctive was his noble bearing, which inspired imdiate respect.
"Uncle!" The middle-aged man leaped from Dragonite's back and landed gracefully before Taylor.
"Oh~ my Champion nephew, what brings you here today?" Taylor continued his slow punching routine, even though the person before him was China's Champion, known as "Emperor."
"Uncle Taylor, my Alakazam went berserk with Psychic power in my last battle, and now shows signs of ntal energy disorder. I ca to the Breeders Association to borrow testing equipnt and help it regain control of its psychic abilities," Marvin said respectfully.
"Kid, I'm not criticizing you, but how many tis is this this year?
High-intensity Pokemon battles can certainly improve Pokemon strength quickly, but they also easily leave hidden injuries.
Don't let your main Pokemon be injured all over when you're older—you might lose your life in the end,"
Taylor lectured while honestly walking toward the Breeders Association interior with Marvin.
Marvin followed without defending himself, simply nodding with a smile.
For this uncle who had raised him since childhood, even after becoming Champion, he maintained the sa respect as always.
Taylor led the way, and after several turns, they soon reached the inner laboratory.
Upon entering the vast laboratory, both n were imdiately shocked by the magnificent scene in the distance.
A Greninja leaped through the air, holding a massive golden disc with both hands toward the sky, then hurled it downward heavily, striking a huge Snorlax-shaped target.
"BOOM!!"
The entire laboratory trembled.
By the ti the explosion smoke cleared, the Snorlax target had been completely destroyed.
Five seconds later, a chanical announcent echoed from the speakers.
"Strength value: 13.85 million, evaluation: Champion-level strike power!"
All present researchers imdiately stood in awe.
"This already registers as Champion-level striking power?" Chris asked Zyair.
The Snorlax target would evaluate attack power according to damage received.
His Greninja hadn't even undergone GA evolution yet, using only the most basic Golden Water Shuriken without aura power, but still achieved Champion-level strength—this surprised Chris sowhat.
"Yes," Zyair replied with a wry smile, unsure how to respond to Chris's humble bragging.
Obviously an Elite Four's Pokemon, yet possessing Champion-level destructive power. If Greninja evolved to GA, the destructive capability... Well, it seed the laboratory's maintenance costs would rise again.
"Clap clap clap!" Sudden applause broke the laboratory silence.
Everyone looked toward the applause source in unison.
Marvin had been applauding.
"So powerful, amazing!" Marvin felt no embarrassnt, stepping forward proactively. He wanted to see which Trainer's Greninja had made such an impressive display.
"Your Excellency Champion!" The researchers greeted successively.
Chris also observed Marvin.
China's Champion?!
Finally seeing him in person!
As China's Champion, Chris had naturally seen him before, but only on television—this was their first real-life encounter.
Well, much more handso than on TV!
"Hello, I'm the Champion, Marvin. May I ask your na?" Marvin noticed Greninja standing beside Chris, surprised by Chris's youth, and hurried forward to greet him.
"Uh..." Zyair looked sowhat strange.
"You don't know him?" Taylor asked, noticing Zyair's oddness.
"Should I know him?" Marvin wondered.
"My na is Chris. I just defeated Elite Elian a few days ago to beco the new Elite Four mber," Chris didn't mind, introducing himself.
This was fine—a proper formal introduction.
"Elian was defeated by you?" Marvin was shocked, but after considering the destructive power Chris's Greninja had just demonstrated, it didn't seem strange.
He quickly apologized.
"Sorry, I just erged from secret training, and my phone died, so I haven't received this news yet."
Marvin produced his dead phone as proof of innocence.
"It doesn't matter—I should visit Marvin," Chris said. Elite Four ranked half a level below Champion, though there was no direct subordination.
"By the way, is this Greninja your Pokemon?" Marvin looked at Greninja.
"Yes."
"Excellent!" Marvin nodded with satisfaction. "How about it—want to have a match?"
Seeing Greninja's destructive power just now, Marvin felt eager to battle.
"A match? Sure..." Before Chris could agree, Taylor reminded, "Are you certain you want to battle now? Your Alakazam can't still control its declining ntal power at the mont!"
"Right, right, right... I almost forgot." Marvin scratched his head embarrassedly. "I encountered a major battle in a secret realm, and all my partners were injured, so we'll have to wait a while before sparring."
He imdiately asked again, "Since you're already Elite, then... when do you plan to challenge for the Championship?"
Taylor imdiately gave his nephew a light smack. "He just beca Elite Four—how can you ask that!"
"Next year, I'll challenge you next year," Chris said suddenly.
Everyone imdiately looked at Chris in surprise.
It was already year's end, and he would challenge for Championship next year?
Wasn't that a bit too...
Marvin grinned. "Then I'll be waiting!"
