"Let her take risks with , and you want to stay and protect Alto Mare?" Chris asked, looking directly at Latios.

In truth, he would prefer to take Latios with him instead. The Level 75 Pokémon would provide instant combat power for his team. With just a little training, Latios could beco a powerful core mber of his roster. Chris knew from his knowledge that while Latias, the sister, tended toward defensive strategies, Latios typically excelled in offensive battles.

Latios nodded thoughtfully, considering Chris's words carefully. The legendary Pokémon understood that only by becoming stronger could it truly protect the water city of Alto Mare. It never wanted to experience another humiliating defeat at the hands of a Dark Pokémon again.

The mory was still fresh - Chris had used just one of his Pokémon to defeat the sa Dark Pokémon that had completely overwheld both Latios and its sister. This demonstration of strength spoke volus about the trainer's capabilities. Without question, the human standing before them possessed Pokémon that could easily defeat Latios in battle.

More importantly, Latios couldn't sense any malicious intent from Chris. While it couldn't definitively call him a good person, at the very least, Chris didn't appear to be evil. Perhaps he could be trusted with sothing so precious.

However, Latios couldn't bring itself to leave its younger sister alone in Alto Mare. If another Dark Pokémon attacked while it was away training... The thought was unbearable.

After much deliberation, Latios made its decision. It would allow its younger sister to venture out with Chris on an adventure. Only when Latias returned stronger and capable of protecting Alto Mare would Latios consider leaving to pursue its own growth. Chapters first released on novelfire(.)net

"Hmm..." Latias gazed at her big brother with clear reluctance in her eyes.

Despite her naturally playful personality and curiosity about the outside world, leaving Alto Mare felt wrong. In the past, she had occasionally ventured to nearby islands for brief explorations, but she had never been away from both her ho and her brother for an extended period. The prospect of traveling far from everything familiar made her nervous.

Now Latios was essentially ordering her to go, and she understood why. If they faced another attack like today's, the sibling duo might find themselves overwheld again. They couldn't rely on Chris happening to arrive at Alto Mare every ti danger threatened their city.

"Don't worry, we'll return from ti to ti," Chris said gently, trying to comfort the hesitant legendary Pokémon. "Even if Alto Mare faces another Dark Pokémon attack, your brother can contact us through dream sharing, and we'll rush back imdiately."

Dream sharing was a unique ability that had never appeared in any official docuntation of Latias's known moves. Chris compared it to Zeraora's lightning aura - both seed to be advanced techniques developed through deep understanding of specific type energies rather than standard learned moves.

Chris had witnessed Latias use dream sharing before. The ability allowed the Pokémon to share visual experiences with other beings in real-ti. Through this connection, Latias could relay what Latios was seeing, effectively allowing distant observers to witness events through the brother's perspective.

If Alto Mare faced future attacks, this dream sharing ability would enable Chris to respond with maximum speed and efficiency.

Latios looked at his younger sister with stern determination. As the elder sibling, he had to fulfill a parental role in this mont. This decision was not open for negotiation or refusal.

Latias could not be allowed to decline this opportunity for growth.

"Hmm..." Recognizing that her brother's mind was firmly made up, Latias nodded reluctantly and flew toward Chris with obvious resignation.

"Don't worry, think of it as an exciting journey," Chris said softly as he retrieved a Premier Ball from his belt. "Whenever you want to visit ho, I'll bring you back for a visit."

He reminded himself to be gentle - after all, Latias was known for her sensitive nature. He also recalled that Latias possessed shapeshifting abilities similar to Ditto, often taking human form when interacting with people. In particular, she seed to enjoy appearing as a young girl.

The Premier Ball made light contact with Latias's head before activating its capture chanism. Red light enveloped the legendary Pokémon as she was drawn inside, but the ball's indicator light flashed repeatedly, signaling her internal struggle and emotional conflict.

The Premier Ball rocked back and forth three or four tis, each movent reflecting Latias's hesitation about this major life change. Finally, the movent ceased and the light went solid.

Latias had been successfully caught.

"Whew," Chris exhaled deeply, relief washing over him. The capture had been successful.

This trip to Alto Mare had been incredibly worthwhile. The encounter with the Dark Dragonite, though dangerous, had led to this remarkable outco.

Chris imdiately released Latias so she could have a proper farewell with her brother Latios. While the siblings shared their goodbye, he accessed his Pokédex interface to examine Latias's detailed statistics.

[Latias (Dragon/Psychic Type)] (Legendary Pokémon)

[Level: 60]

[Ability: Levitate (Pokémon with this ability are completely immune to Ground-type moves and remain unaffected by entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and terrain-based status conditions)]

[Individual Values: HP (31), Attack (31), Special Attack (31), Defense (31), Special Defense (31), Speed (31)]

[Known Moves: Stored Power, Charm, Helping Hand, Recover, Confusion, Tailwind, Dragon Breath, Wish, Mist Ball, Zen Headbutt, Dragon Pulse, Heal Pulse, Reflect Type, Future Sight...]

[Held Item: None]

Most of Latias's statistics appeared fairly standard for a legendary Pokémon of her caliber. However, one detail caught Chris's attention imdiately.

Her individual values were perfect across all categories - a complete 6IV spread.

"Perfect IVs... are all legendary Pokémon born with maximum potential? Or is this specific to mythical Pokémon?" Chris wondered aloud, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

Both legendary Pokémon he had encountered so far displayed this sa perfect statistical foundation. If this pattern held true for all legendaries, future encounters with powerful Pokémon would require less concern about their base potential.

Studying Latias's move list more carefully, Chris began forming ideas about her role on his team.

Charm, Helping Hand, Recover, Tailwind, Wish, Heal Pulse...

The combination suggested she would excel as a support specialist, providing crucial assistance to her teammates in battle.

Her move set revealed greater proficiency with Psychic-type techniques than Dragon-type attacks, which aligned with her naturally supportive personality.

"Psychic types can also learn moves like Guard Split, Power Swap, and Gravity," Chris mused, considering training possibilities. "Her signature move Mist Ball can also reduce opponents' Special Attack, adding a debuffing elent to her arsenal."

Still, using a legendary Pokémon purely for support felt wasteful. Chris planned to develop her supportive capabilities while ensuring her offensive potential wasn't neglected. Both Dragon and Psychic types possessed formidable attacking options, and Latias shouldn't be limited to a purely defensive role.

Even though Latias ranked among the less combat-focused legendary Pokémon, she still far surpassed ordinary Pokémon and even most pseudo-legendary species in raw power.

Additionally, Latias possessed the rare ability to ga Evolve - a transformation available to very few mythical Pokémon. Only Latias and Diancie among the mythical species had received this enhancent.

If Latias underwent ga Evolution, her combat effectiveness would increase dramatically across all paraters.

The only challenge would be obtaining her ga Stone, which could prove quite difficult to acquire.

"By the way," Chris suddenly rembered sothing important. He looked up toward Lorenzo, the museum curator who had been quietly observing their interaction.

"Curator, when does Alto Mare's water racing championship begin?"
