Halfway through the battle, Koizumi, who had lost two Pokémon in a row, began to experience a shift in his ntal state.
"This Gym Trainer is definitely not an ordinary Gym Trainer!" he thought to himself.
"I absolutely cannot be defeated so easily. This match is being broadcast live across China. There must be countless people criticizing online right now."
"No, I must turn this situation around!"
"Stay calm, don't get too anxious!" Koizumi took a deep breath, attempting to steady his nerves.
But the thought of returning ho after suffering a loss weighed heavily on him. Based on the public opinion in his ho country, the sha would be unbearable—so would expect him to commit ritual suicide to restore honor.
Koizumi's teeth began to tremble uncontrollably.
"Co forth! Krookodile!" he shouted through gritted teeth as he hurled his next Poké Ball.
The device opened mid-air, and a Krookodile standing over three ters tall landed on the battlefield. Its red and black skin and the pair of sunglasses perched on its face gave it the appearance of a formidable street thug.
"Krookodile, Z-Move, Tectonic Rage!" Koizumi displayed his Z-Ring and began the ritual dance!
He crossed his hands in front of his chest, then pivoted in a circle, and finally bent down to slap the ground with both hands. Khaki-yellow energy imdiately erupted from his body, surging toward Krookodile.
Krookodile felt the power flowing from its trainer, as if a khaki fla engulfed its entire body! It imdiately mimicked its trainer's posture, bending down to strike the ground with its claws.
Instantly, a fissure spread from where Krookodile's claws had impacted, racing toward Steelix until it reached beneath the Steel-type's massive body.
With a deafening "BANG," the ground beneath Steelix shattered, creating an enormous abyss. Steelix's huge form imdiately plumted downward as Krookodile burrowed into the dirt.
Tectonic Rage—the Z-Move of the Ground type.
Although Steelix possessed the Ground type as well, it was also vulnerable to Ground-type attacks.
"Is this desperation to regain the advantage?" Chris chuckled.
"Young man, you're too impatient."
Chris extended his hand skyward, revealing his Z-Power Ring. The Key Stone embedded in the bracelet imdiately burst into colorful light.
Steelix, falling into the chasm, was instantly enveloped by this prismatic radiance.
In that mont, Steelix underwent ga Evolution.
When the colorful light dissipated, ga Obsidian Steelix appeared!
The already massive black serpentine form swelled even further!
During its ti as an Onix, its body length was only thirty ters.
After evolving into Steelix, its length had increased to fifty ters.
Now, ga-Evolved, Steelix's body stretched to an astonishing 80 ters! Each obsidian segnt asured 5 ters in length, and its head alone reached 8 ters!
Black crystals orbited around it like a planetary ring, and what was once a smooth chin now featured sharp, blade-like protrusions. After ga Evolution, ga Steelix gained improvents not only to its Defense but also to its Attack and Special Defense!
"Dragon Tail," Chris commanded with a raised hand.
ga Steelix, still falling within the chasm, rotated its body in mid-air and slashed heavily from top to bottom with its enormous tail, now blazing with flowing fire and dark green draconic energy!
This strike carried not only trendous force but also the weight of tens of tons!
Krookodile, at the bottom of the abyss and wrapped in Ground-type energy, launched upward with Sucker Punch!
"BOOM!"
The two collided in the middle of the chasm.
ga Steelix's Dragon Tail smashed directly into Krookodile's body.
After just a second of deadlock, unable to withstand the strength and terrifying weight of ga Steelix's tail, Krookodile collapsed instantly. Its body was blasted deeper into the abyss like a cannonball.
In less than ten seconds, the cracks that had split the battlefield vanished.
This closure was supposed to happen after Krookodile completed its Z-Move sequence.
But now, neither ga Steelix nor Krookodile was visible above ground.
The spectators had only seen Chris initiate ga Evolution but hadn't witnessed the appearance of ga Steelix afterward—they'd rely heard the sound of a trendous collision before the ground sealed itself.
So... what had happened in the battle between the two?
ga Steelix quickly provided the answer.
The ground in front of Chris exploded upward as the stalwart body of ga Steelix erged—with Krookodile in tow, forcibly pushed out by the Steel behemoth.
ga Steelix raised the Dark/Ground-type high into the air before slamming it heavily onto the battlefield. Krookodile had clearly lost all fighting capability.
"Krookodile is unable to battle! Steelix wins!" the referee announced.
No one knew exactly what had transpired in the abyss created by Tectonic Rage, but the result spoke volus: Krookodile's Z-Move Tectonic Rage had failed to stop ga Steelix after its ga Evolution!
The entire audience, along with viewers of the television broadcast, were electrified by the spectacle.
First a ga Shiny Gardevoir, and now a ga Shiny Steelix!
Tonight's trending topics on social dia were already predetermined.
Many spectators gazed at Chris with adoration in their eyes.
ga Gardevoir, ga Garchomp, ga Steelix—any one of these Pokémon would serve as a trump card for most Trainers, yet they seed commonplace in Chris's arsenal!
Had all his ga Stones fallen from the sky?
How could one trainer be so incredibly fortunate?
Koizumi stood slack-jawed, almost at a complete loss.
He had originally believed that with his trump card Pokémon Krookodile and a Groundium Z, he could at least secure this round of the battle.
He'd even been thinking ahead to subsequent rounds, having planned to defeat Steelix first with Groundium Z!
But now, faced with this result...
"How should I approach my fourth match?" Koizumi didn't want to dwell on the details of how Krookodile had been defeated by ga Steelix.
His only concern now was how to proceed with this battle.
Could he even continue fighting?
Koizumi glanced at the cara positioned to his side.
Through it, people across his entire ho country could witness his current decline and humiliation.
Thinking of this, Koizumi seed to envision countless pairs of eyes filled with condemnation from his countryn.
With a quiver, tears welled up in his eyes!
Koizumi began to cry.
It wasn't that he wanted to—the tears had a mind of their own, determined to stream down his face.
Reporters in the audience imdiately captured this scene with keen observation and rapidly took notes.
"Chris's attack too cruel, reducing Island rival to tears"
Chris scratched his head nervously. Had his opponent really started crying?
"His ability to handle pressure must be worse than I thought," he pondered.
