“How… does it feel?”
Terrance’s voice rang out as he looked at ga Altaria. With a cry from ga Altaria, a faint smile appeared at the corner of Terrance’s mouth.
Success!
However, in just an instant, Terrance issued a command: “That’s enough.”
The next mont.
The light dispersed, and ga Altaria reverted to Altaria.
“ga Evolution!!” Albus was thrilled. “Why revert back? Let’s have a battle!”
“In Altaria’s current state, it might be able to fight my Lucario!”
“Shut up.” Fujiki pulled the excited Albus aside with disdain. “You can battle anyti.”
“I can already feel the side effects you ntioned,” Terrance said. “And these side effects aren’t just about the energy drain during ga Evolution. Even after completing ga Evolution, I can feel my energy continuously being drained.”
“In that state, I would probably pass out in less than three minutes. Though this is just my estimation, the actual ti would be even shorter.”
Albus was stunned. This was information even they didn’t know.
“Three minutes…”
His face fell. “If it’s only three minutes, isn’t that way too short?”
“Don’t underestimate how fast this device drains energy. Have you forgotten? The Trainers you found before couldn’t even sustain the energy consumption during the ga Evolution process.”
Terrance raised his hand and glanced at the ga Ring. The energy consumption during ga Evolution was imnse, but once the evolution was complete, the energy drain slowed down. However, even so, it was still too much for him to bear.
His stamina was manageable, but the real issue was the decline in his ntal state, which could affect his ability to command during battle.
“Now, can you tell
the reason? ga Evolution has succeeded, and I have a way to extend its duration. Given the current situation, I should be the best candidate.” Terrance said confidently.
“You have a way to maintain ga Evolution for longer?!” Albus, who had been sowhat disappointed, was suddenly overjoyed.
Let’s return to the previous day.
When Terrance asked about the ga Ring’s matter, Albus hesitated and gave a few vague explanations, saying that if Terrance lacked the ability to complete ga Evolution, knowing this information would be of no benefit to him.
“This ga Ring is an unfinished experintal product. Its function is to enhance the effects of ga Evolution, but it also cos with so side effects, which we just ntioned.”
“As for its origins, we can’t tell you yet. However, if you successfully complete ga Evolution, we will provide you with an explanation that will convince you. After all, this is also related to the matter in which we need your help.”
Beneath Mt. Chimney.
The fleeting mont of ga Evolution just now caused all the Pokémon on Mt. Chimney to sense a powerful presence.
Several years ago.
An illegal organization, in order to develop a certain weapon, used technological ans and the power of Pokémon to successfully control a Darkrai.
Several researchers, aiming to harness Darkrai’s power to complete this weapon, confined Darkrai to a remote island.
This island is now called Nightmare Island by them.
During their research, in order to continuously refine the weapon’s effectiveness, this organization abducted 300 children from small regions such as Almia and Fiore. They used deception, manipulation, and even outright force to bring them to the island as test subjects.
Seventy percent of these children ca from small regions, while a smaller portion ca from places like Hoenn and Sinnoh. Among them, over ninety percent were orphans, while the rest were traveling Trainers who had been alone.
The organization researching this special weapon was called Team Nightmare. They attempted to create a large-scale weapon capable of controlling the world through illusions and dreams. As for the 300 children, they were nothing more than guinea pigs used in the early stages to experint with the weapon’s effects.
These children struggled to survive on the desolate island while also enduring the nightmares that could strike at any mont, making life worse than death.
However, to prevent the test subjects from losing the will to survive, Team Nightmare provided them with Poké Balls and so weak Pokémon, allowing them to barely survive. At the sa ti, they spread the lie that those who perford exceptionally well could leave the island.
Most of the children fought to survive in hopes of escaping Nightmare Island. Albus and Fujiki were among them.
Albus was luckier than most. Despite his young age at the ti, he demonstrated amazing talent as a Trainer, which allowed him to survive on the island without being killed by Pokémon or starving to death.
However, even so, Albus never saw any real hope of escaping Nightmare Island.
On Nightmare Island, all Flying-type Pokémon were forcibly controlled by Team Nightmare. The only way to escape was to cross the ocean—there was no other possible thod.
But then, one day—
Albus awakened the Aura power.
With the power of Aura, Albus gained the Telepathy ability, making him the only person on Nightmare Island who could communicate with the controlled Darkrai.
From sensing others’ aura, investigating his surroundings, to perceiving and seeing through objects, Albus continuously trained his Aura. This allowed him to get much stronger, far surpassing the other test subjects on Nightmare Island.
“A year after I awakened my Aura power, I t Lucario,” Albus said with a smile.
Lucario was the strongest Pokémon on Nightmare Island. After Nightmare Island fell under Team Nightmare’s control, Lucario used its Aura to hide itself, refusing to make contact with humans. However, as Albus’ aura grew stronger, their auras resonated with each other. Lucario sensed Albus’ aura and eventually appeared before him.
“Lucario was incredibly strong at that ti. It gave
hope that we could escape Team Nightmare’s grasp. But that alone wasn’t enough. At the ti, we couldn’t even break through the ard forces on Nightmare Island, let alone fight against the headquarters of Team Nightmare.”
“But I had the Aura power. Using it, I struck a deal with Lucario—it beca my Pokémon, and together, we began planning the destruction of Team Nightmare.”
“As for what happened after that, there’s no need for a lengthy explanation. All you need to know is that we successfully destroyed Team Nightmare.”
Terrance stared blankly at the two of them, feeling as if they were telling him a fairy tale.
He wanted to question them further to confirm the truth of their story, but when he saw the serious expressions on their faces, he fell silent.
Team Nightmare…?
“What about the weapon?” Terrance furrowed his brows.
“This is the reason we sought out a Trainer with an Altaria for help,” Albus continued.
“That dream-enhancing weapon was fused with Darkrai. Under the control of this weapon, Darkrai is unable to control its own power, constantly on the verge of going berserk. If it loses control and escapes from Nightmare Island, it would be nothing short of a disaster for any place inhabited by humans. At the sa ti… Darkrai itself might perish as a result.”
