"Ding ding..."

At this mont, a crisp knocking sound ca, and simultaneously, the lights dimd. Then, a beam focused on the stage.

Wearing a strapless gown, Isla Lawson appeared in everyone’s view.

"Everyone!"

Isla Lawson’s face bore a bright smile as she said, "Welco to my hocoming introduction ceremony. From today onward, I, Isla Lawson, announce my official return to work in the country. I hope everyone will..."

Julian Lawson is the sole heir of this branch, but the Lawson Family also has a Miss Lawson, referring to Isla Lawson.

Isla Lawson is Julian Lawson’s cousin. She is Caleb Lawson’s cherished youngest daughter, who has proven herself capable by handling so overseas company affairs during her studies. Now, returning from Frelia’s Ivy League school for her graduate studies, she shines as a bright new star of the Lawson Family, with enough pride to live up to the title of Miss Lawson.

Isla Lawson’s speech certainly wasn’t limited to this; she spoke eloquently on stage, while Serena Sterling listened to people whispering nearby.

"A Master’s degree in finance, and she even received scholarships, graduated with all A’s. This Miss Lawson is truly remarkable."

"Indeed, when she was 23 two years ago, she handled an extrely dangerous overseas affair in Frelia. I heard there was even a gunfight locally, and she took charge personally. Frelia is not like our country with gun control; she truly dared."

"Of course, otherwise how could she deserve the title of Miss Lawson? There are more than one girl in the Lawson Family of this generation."

"I heard that most of the overseas connections in Frelia were handled by her, and she has accumulated many resources over the years. It’s unclear which departnt she’ll join upon returning."

...

Amidst the discussions, Julian Lawson’s phone vibrated once again.

He frowned slightly, took a glance, and saw it was a call from Secretary Chaucer.

Secretary Chaucer?

After pondering, Julian Lawson stood up and moved to a quieter area to take the call.

"What’s going on?" Julian Lawson asked.

Secretary Chaucer’s voice sounded urgent: "President Lawson, lately there have been strangers snooping around the company. I sent people to investigate, and just got confirmation – it’s the police."

The police?

Julian Lawson frowned even deeper.

"What are the police investigating at The Lawson Corporation? Have you found out?"

For a giant company like The Lawson Corporation, interactions with the police are not uncommon, mostly for disputes. However, discreet investigations like this are rare.

Usually, there are so details temporarily inconvenient to reveal needing investigation.

"The police are very cautious, asking random questions about your relationship with your wife and Vera Hansen’s situation; mostly acquiring information in a gossipy manner," Secretary Chaucer replied imdiately. "But after filtering, the frequency of their inquiries, or their ultimate goal, is Preston Langley."

Preston Langley!

Julian Lawson’s eyes narrowed dangerously.

Why are the police paying attention to Preston Langley?

Is it because of that matter...

"Is Preston Langley’s whereabouts currently tracked?" Julian Lawson’s voice grew cold.

"Still haven’t found him, President Lawson. The people below have delayed for too long, and many clues are already lost," Secretary Chaucer sounded sowhat panicked.

If that matter were exposed... it would really trigger a series of consequences.

It was a malevolent incident indeed.

The choice was made to suppress it back then, so now bringing it up proactively would be ineffective, especially considering...

"Keep searching, deploy more people, you must find Preston Langley!" Julian Lawson’s voice was icy. "Observe the situation with the police, and see what’s really going on."

Julian knew that since the police started with confidentiality, chances are nothing will be extracted, only to wait.

"Understood!" Secretary Chaucer imdiately set to work.

After hanging up, Julian Lawson glanced again at Serena Sterling seated in the audience.

Should he tell Serena about the matter?

He wasn’t sure.

Just then, he looked through his phone and saw a ssage sent by Vera Hansen after missing her call.

[Brother Julian, the police contacted , asking about Preston Langley’s matter, what should I do?]

A mont later, there was another ssage.

[I barely managed to dodge and said I was unwell, but I think they’ll co again. I’ll co find you, we’ll discuss how to address it. Just a mont, ten minutes or so won’t interrupt the wine tasting event with her.]

Just as he finished reading, Julian Lawson’s phone vibrated again; it was an incoming call from Vera Hansen.

Seated, Serena seed to notice sothing, lifted her head to look toward Julian Lawson in the aisle.

Then, she saw him frowning tightly, holding his phone, not sure what to say, and swiftly leaving.

What happened?

Serena did not know, but she did not want to delve deeper either.

Her primary motive for coming here was to resolve two matters.

The first was Julian Lawson’s inquiries, to solve the trouble of Julian Lawson looking for Seraphina.

Since she had already given him enough ti to talk things over, this matter was considered closed.

The second was Isla Lawson.

What exactly does Isla Lawson intend to do?

And for what purpose?

Serena looked towards Isla Lawson.

At this mont, Isla Lawson’s speech was reaching its conclusion.

She gently raised her hand.

Then, she saw several attendants pushing in a long table.

On it were countless cups piled together, each overflowing with sparkling wine, shimring in the lights.

"These are specially brought from a privately owned winery in Frelia, featuring wines that are hard to find on the market and even include so homade by the estate."

Isla said softly, her gaze sweeping toward Serena Sterling.

The smile on her face carried a tinge of emotional nuance.

"Among these homade wines, there is one that is more precious."

She said, "It is a wine crafted by the winery’s owner, nad Miss."

Miss?

Is there a special significance?

Serena picked up the description on the table and glanced at it.

Easily, the introduction of this wine appeared before her eyes.

Miss, a wine self-brewed by the winery’s owner, brewed four years ago, a red wine.

"Four years, sounds quite ordinary, what’s so precious about it?"

"Indeed, the other wines on this list are far more renowned, like La_Romanee_Conti, which matches Miss Lawson’s persona more?"

"Wasn’t it said earlier that Miss is personally crafted by the winery owner, doesn’t this imply the owner’s status is not ordinary?"

"Possibly, but who could it be?"

...

Amidst the discussions, Serena Sterling saw the Chinese na of that wine.

Nian.

Just one word, Nian.

Crafted personally by the owner of the winery, personally nad.

Frelia, four years ago, Serena looked up at Isla Lawson on the stage.

And Isla Lawson was also looking at her.

Not far away, Julian Lawson, discussing with Vera Hansen at the side door, also seed aware and glanced at Serena.
