Jude Chaucer looked at the direction Julian Lawson was driving in and imdiately knew what was going on, so he drove to intercept Chloe Langley.
"Move aside!" Chloe Langley shouted angrily, feeling sothing was off about the situation.
"Officer Langley, you can tell if there’s anything. President Lawson has very important matters to deal with," Jude Chaucer said with forced cheerfulness.
"He was at the scene during the explosion, I need to take him back for questioning!" Chloe Langley retorted angrily. "He could even be going to destroy evidence. Move aside, you’re obstructing justice!"
Jude Chaucer smiled wryly. If he didn’t obstruct justice, Chloe Langley would follow and discover Vera Hansen hidden in the villa, and that would be the real catastrophe.
"President Lawson wouldn’t do such a thing. I know what’s going on, I’ll tell you."
Jude Chaucer spoke while observing Chloe Langley’s skeptical expression and said, "We’re actually staking out Preston Langley here. He’s responsible for the bomb, we have surveillance to prove our innocence."
Jude Chaucer opened the car door and said to Chloe Langley, "Relax, would President Lawson risk the entire Lawson Family? If he wanted to commit a cri, he could send soone else. Why would he get caught on the spot?"
Chloe Langley remained wary and took out her radio, telling her colleagues to set up a checkpoint to pursue Julian Lawson while she kept her eyes on Jude Chaucer.
"You better have surveillance footage, or else..."
Jude Chaucer nodded vigorously, "We do, Officer Langley, we truly do!"
He had already concocted a story.
Just say they too wanted to catch Preston Langley quickly, having spotted him nearby before, waiting patiently.
Even if the police questioned why the lead wasn’t reported, he’d say it was just a suspected sighting, unsure and unwilling to waste police resources.
Anyway, this explosion was undoubtedly Preston Langley’s doing; it’s quite evident.
...
On the other side, Julian Lawson was driving toward the suburban villa.
Seeing a checkpoint ahead, he quickly diverted to a mountain path, heading that way.
After a bumpy journey, Julian Lawson finally arrived at the villa.
He opened the door and headed straight for the basent.
Vera Hansen had been "treated" here for a long ti.
Julian Lawson opened the basent door and strode over to Vera Hansen, grabbing her by the throat and pinning her against the wall.
"What are you doing!" Vera Hansen protested, pounding Julian Lawson forcefully.
Lack of sunlight over a long ti, along with the "treatnt", had driven Vera Hansen quite insane, glaring with wide, fearso eyes.
"Preston Langley escaped. He knows you’re in my hands," Julian Lawson glared at Vera Hansen, his eyes bloodshot.
Vera Hansen froze for a mont, then burst into laughter, "Release , or Serena Sterling’s photos will flood the sky!"
But Julian Lawson only tightened his grip on her throat.
"I won’t let you go," Julian Lawson squeezed the words out through clenched teeth, "If he releases Serena Sterling’s photos, Vera Hansen, prepare for a fate worse than death!"
"Aren’t I already suffering a fate worse than death?" Vera Hansen struggled to say, "You might as well threaten to kill !"
"Heh..."
Julian Lawson chuckled cruelly, "Vera Hansen, I won’t let you die; death would be too easy. I’ll tornt you slowly. This is just an appetizer."
He fixed Vera Hansen with an unyielding gaze, "You know that if anything happens to her, I’ll truly take action."
Julian Lawson’s hand around Vera Hansen’s throat tightened even more, and she turned purple from lack of breath.
He was serious!
"Let call him to exchange myself for the photos!" Vera Hansen barely managed to say, "Even if there are backups of the photos, you can lure him out to capture him. Let go..."
Julian Lawson narrowed his eyes dangerously, then threw Vera Hansen aside.
"Cough, cough, cough..."
Vera Hansen gasped for breath.
Julian Lawson picked up the phone and yanked her by the collar, "You better behave!"
"I will, I will..."
Thinking for a mont, Julian Lawson added, "Don’t ntion exchanging photos. Say it’s for a secret docunt."
"Got it..." Vera Hansen picked up the phone and dialed Preston Langley.
Preston Langley was currently getting bandaged.
Seeing the incoming call, he sneered and pressed the answer button.
Before he could speak, Vera Hansen already cried out, "Preston, it’s , Vera Hansen, woo..."
"Vera, how are you? Did Julian Lawson do anything to you?" Preston Langley imdiately asked.
"I’ve been captured by him," Vera Hansen’s voice replied, "He wants the original of that secret docunt. I don’t know what that is, but he forced to say this."
Seeing Vera Hansen finish speaking, Julian Lawson imdiately seized the phone.
"Hear that?" Julian Lawson said coldly, "Preston Langley, I want that docunt."
With that, he hung up the call.
"Vera, Julian Lawson, Julian Lawson!" Preston Langley fud furiously.
He imdiately began rummaging for the docunt.
Julian Lawson, holding the phone, looked down at Vera Hansen.
As long as he gave Preston Langley a glimr of hope, an opportunity for exchange, and lured him out.
He still had a chance!
...
Elsewhere.
Serena Sterling also heard the explosion.
Even from afar.
Yet there was still the sound.
"What’s going on?" Bianca Lynch wondered aloud, pulling out her phone to check.
The explosion was already news everywhere online.
Bianca Lynch imdiately showed the others.
Everyone was puzzled.
A short while later, Serena Sterling’s phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID—it was Officer Langley.
"Officer Langley?" Serena Sterling answered imdiately.
"Serena, we’ve discovered Preston Langley’s whereabouts. Could you co to the station when convenient?" Chloe Langley’s voice ca through.
Serena gripped her phone, looking toward the explosion site.
So, was Preston Langley’s whereabouts related to this explosion?
She quickly inford everyone present, hastily grabbed her bag, and turned to Silas Hawthorne, "I need to go to the station."
Silas Hawthorne took the bag from her hands, "You’ve had a drink; I’ll go with you and have the driver take us."
"Okay." Serena nodded, apologizing to the others.
Everyone was understanding.
"June, Orion, please look after everyone," Silas Hawthorne also instructed his younger siblings.
"Don’t worry, big brother, sister-in-law, we got this," Orion Hawthorne assured, and June Hawthorne nodded, urging them to go quickly.
The two hurried off.
Leaving everyone with a look of concern.
Especially Bianca Lynch.
"Sothing’s happened after all," Bianca Lynch said, "I hoped the engagent would go smoothly this ti."
No one knew what to say.
Finally, Ethan Lynch patted his sister’s shoulder.
"It’ll be okay." Ethan Lynch looked in the direction Serena Sterling had left, "After hardship cos ease."
Bianca Lynch nodded vigorously, "Yes, for sure! After hardship cos ease."
Serena Sterling and Silas Hawthorne quickly arrived at the police station.
At this mont, Julian Lawson’s car also pulled up at the station entrance.
After returning from the villa, he thought of an excuse: he was picking sothing up.
The villa was very secluded, without nearby surveillance.
Additionally, he had another residence nearby, so if seen on surveillance from that direction, he could explain it.
As Serena Sterling alighted from the car and took a couple of steps, she saw Julian Lawson standing there, looking at her.
