Behind Silas Hawthorne was the pitch-black night sky.
Recently, as Aeon grew stronger, and as Serena Sterling’s na was frequently ntioned, so forces had begun to stir.
She had sensed their presence a few tis and discovered so traces.
But she could never catch them.
She and Clara Huxley had inquired about the subsequent gatherings of the older generation.
Was there a problem since Zink had such a strong reaction before?
But later, she heard that Zink had stopped insisting and had invited everyone that day.
"It seems like I need to visit the Zink Family," Serena murmured, "and talk to Zink, see if I can find out sothing."
Aether’s situation was stable, and Aeon was developing positively.
The next two things she needed to do were.
One was to uncover the truth about her father’s death.
And the other... Serena looked at Silas Hawthorne, who was accompanying her.
Was to hold the wedding.
Silas Hawthorne tightened his grip on her hand, and together they walked toward the crowd.
In a dark corner, Julian Lawson, who had rushed over, looked at their tightly clasped hands, his eyes filled with despondency.
Isla Lawson had already left.
Should he go over?
Separate her and Silas Hawthorne’s tightly clasped hands.
Keep her confined by his side, and wait until everything is resolved, then beg for her forgiveness.
Julian Lawson hesitated.
At that mont, his phone suddenly vibrated.
"Buzz buzz buzz..."
Julian Lawson glanced at it and found it was a call from Jude Chaucer.
Jude Chaucer knew where he was right now; calling at this ti must an sothing important.
Julian Lawson glanced at the two of them again; they were reaching out to take the large squid skewers that Bianca Lynch handed over.
Julian Lawson forcibly withdrew his gaze and touched the answer button.
"What’s up?" Julian Lawson said.
"President Lawson, Preston Langley is here, it’s him in person!" Jude Chaucer’s voice was filled with excitent.
Finally!
Julian Lawson turned around and quickly left the place.
After Julian Lawson left, Silas Hawthorne looked up in the direction he had just left.
"What’s wrong? What are you looking at?" Serena asked as she brushed sauce on the large squid.
"Nothing." Silas Hawthorne shook his head and withdrew his gaze.
...
On the other side.
In the darkness of night.
Preston Langley pulled down the brim of his baseball cap.
After receiving the invitation, he had soone secretly deliver it to The Lawson Corporation’s front desk.
He thought he could et Vera Hansen, but he still needed to be cautious.
After all, he had previously been blocked by Julian Lawson’s people.
While Julian Lawson was mingling on Serena’s side, it was more prudent for him to see Vera Hansen.
He hadn’t sent Vera Hansen any ssages for a while.
This ti, he didn’t send any either.
Just sneaking closer.
This no-man’s land was bustling with complex foot traffic.
So no one suspected him being all wrapped up.
He trekked with stealth, circling several tis, slowly approaching that house.
In the shadows, Jude Chaucer watched the surveillance nervously.
Lately, they had secretly installed so small caras nearby.
There were also a few of their own people around.
"Hurry up and open the door and go in," Jude Chaucer murmured softly.
To avoid exposure, most of their people were hidden inside the house.
As soon as Preston Langley opened the door and went in, he’d be restrained!
anwhile, Julian Lawson was rushing there as fast as he could.
His heart was pounding violently.
He must capture Preston Langley.
As long as he captures Preston Langley, he can tell Serena the whole truth!
The moon hung high in the night sky, its cold light illuminating the earth.
Preston Langley passed the door for the third ti.
He was testing the waters.
Another roundabout.
Three tis, nothing happened.
Perhaps he was overthinking it.
Next ti, just open the door and go in.
Thinking of this, Preston Langley rembered Vera Hansen’s face.
He hadn’t seen her for a long ti.
Once he saw her, they could leave this country together, and from then on, they’d be together forever.
Thinking of this, Preston Langley clenched the key in his pocket.
The door behind Jude Chaucer opened, and Julian Lawson walked in quickly.
"How’s it going?" Julian Lawson asked.
"He’s still testing; he’s very cautious, but there’s a 95% chance it’s him this ti!" Jude Chaucer said.
Actually, Jude Chaucer was almost sure it was Preston Langley, since they used to be at The Lawson Corporation together, Jude could recognize him.
But he couldn’t be too certain with his words.
Julian Lawson nodded and looked at the surveillance.
Indeed, according to Julian Lawson’s judgnt, it was him.
In the surveillance, Preston Langley seed to be leisurely wandering around, glancing at his phone, but his route was approaching that house.
"What’s he looking at?" Julian Lawson asked.
"The guys reported, earlier they found so other hidden caras nearby, without a pattern, probably placed by Preston Langley," Jude Chaucer imdiately answered.
"He’s probably checking the surroundings on his phone now."
This was why they didn’t dare deploy too many people outside.
On one hand, they worried about being detected by Preston Langley, and on the other, if too many people were deployed, the police might notice sothing unusual.
What they needed to do was hand over both people to the police simultaneously, otherwise, once Preston Langley discovered that Vera Hansen was already caught, there might be retaliation.
Julian Lawson nodded, keeping a close watch on the cara.
Minute by minute passed by, and Preston Langley ca to the door for the fourth ti.
Unlike before, where he just passed by, this ti he stopped.
Julian Lawson, Jude Chaucer, and the others all held their breath.
They saw Preston Langley in the surveillance, look around to make sure no one was watching, then he reached out and knocked on the door.
He and Vera Hansen had an agreent that if anyone knocked on the door, not to open it because he had a key.
Even if he didn’t have a key, he would use so other clues to notify her.
So now, if he knocked and there was an attempt to open the door, he would imdiately run.
His car was parked not far away.
"Knock knock knock."
Preston Langley knocked for the first ti.
No response.
"Knock knock knock."
Preston Langley knocked a second ti, this ti hearing a sound from inside, but it was unclear, still no one ca to open the door.
"Knock knock knock."
Preston Langley knocked a third ti, still no one ca to open the door.
"Is anyone there?" After waiting a while, Preston Langley asked, "Checking the water ter."
Still no one opened the door.
After this, there was a long silence.
Outside the surveillance screen, Jude Chaucer started cursing.
"So cautious, will he go in or not?" Jude Chaucer said impatiently, "Is he just going to stand and leave?"
If he really doesn’t go in and just leaves, when will they get another chance?
Jude Chaucer was really not content.
He was very clear about Julian Lawson’s intentions, as Serena and Silas Hawthorne’s wedding approached, they couldn’t wait any longer.
