Chapter 60: The Planner of Mophisia
When Mophis pushed open the door, what she saw was a young player who looked sowhat frail.
He wore a plain mage robe, a pair of golden-rimd glasses, and carried a large stack of thick parchnt scrolls in his arms.
Standing nervously at the entrance, the mont he saw Mophis step out, he quickly adjusted his glasses and bowed deeply.
“Your Excellency, Guardian! G-Greetings! I am [Divine Strategy’s Math Hut]!”
Mophis studied him.
She rembered this ID.
On the forums, he was recognized as the server’s number one strategist, fad for his ticulous logic and tactical layouts.
It was said that several major guilds’ decisive battles had been orchestrated behind the scenes by him.
She had not expected that the players would elect such a refined-looking person as city lord, instead of so brute at the top of the combat rankings.
But this was fine.
Dealing with intelligent people was always easier than dealing with muscle-heads.
“Co in.” Mophis stepped aside, letting him enter the library’s main hall.
“Y-Yes! Yes!”
[Divine Strategy’s Math Hut], flattered, carefully carried his pile of blueprints inside.
However, the mont he stepped into the hall, his body froze stiff.
His gaze locked onto Mophis’s hand.
Because of her haste, though Mophis had already stored the “Tear of the Divine Nation” into her inventory, traces of its extre holy light energy still lingered at her fingertips, like she was holding fragnts of diamonds that refused to disperse.
[Divine Strategy’s Math Hut] swallowed hard, his mind going blank.
He was a data-stream player, one who had encyclopedic knowledge of in-ga items.
He could feel what terrifying power was contained in those residual glimrs.
That was absolutely… legendary, no, perhaps even a mythical-grade item’s aura!
Not long ago, he had even argued on the forums that the “Diamond of Holy Light” Mophis brought out must be so kind of one-use plot gimmick, rely for show.
But now…
She had just finished a business deal, and her hand casually carried that kind of aura! What did this an? It ant treasures of such a tier really were just little trinkets for her daily amusent!
【Holy crap! Brothers! Do you know what I just saw?! Wifey’s hands are covered in diamond dust! Don’t tell she was just rolling those around like walnuts?! Walnuts—made of diamonds?!】
In the guild channel, [Divine Strategy’s Math Hut] let out a despairing wail, instantly igniting the player base.
【What?! Diamond-rolling? What kind of immortal operation is this?!】
【I get it now! Wifey is cultivating with diamonds! Absorbing their energy! No wonder she’s so strong!】
【Rich lady! Hungryyy! Feed ee!】
Seeing [Divine Strategy’s Math Hut] looking like he had seen a ghost, Mophis glanced down at her own hand and realized her slip.
Without betraying any expression, she closed her fingers, dispersing the light specks, and walked calmly to a wide reading table.
“What is it?” she asked coolly.
“Ah! Work! It’s work!” [Divine Strategy’s Math Hut] jolted back to himself, quickly running over to lay out all the blueprints on the desk.
“Your Excellency, Guardian, this is the Phase One city plan for ‘Mophisia,’ rushed out overnight by our ‘City-Building Committee.’ Please review it!” he said reverently.
“Our ability is limited, and we surely overlooked many aspects.
We beg for your… guidance!”
Mophis looked over the crookedly drawn, player-style schematics, and felt the faint stirrings of a headache at her temples.
In her past life, she had been a top-tier programr, with an almost instinctive rigor for system architecture and logical closure.
And to her eyes, these plans were riddled with loopholes.
She picked up a [Comrcial District Planning Map], her slender finger tapping lightly upon it.
“The taxation algorithm here has problems.” Her tone was cold and detached.
“You designed a fixed transaction tax rate. This will create a problem: for bulk trades and high-value goods, the taxes will be enormous, suppressing high-end market flow. For low-value consumables, on the other hand, the tax is negligible.”
[Divine Strategy’s Math Hut] froze, not expecting her to strike right at the heart of the issue with her very first words.
“You should design a tiered tax model, with ‘trade frequency’ and ‘type of goods’ as variables. For example, apply low taxes to raw materials and necessities to encourage circulation; higher taxes to luxury goods and finished equipnt; and for guild-scale bulk procurent, establish an application process for tax reduction in exchange for contributions to public services…”
Mophis spoke with the instinct of a programr seeing bad code and feeling compelled to optimize, elaborating at length.
She then picked up a [City Defense Layout Map].
“These arrow tower placents look like they cover everything, but there is a fatal crossfire blind spot here.” She pointed.
“If enemies attack from this angle with long-range projectile spells, your defenses would instantly collapse halfway.”
“And your wall foundations only consider physical defense, with no anti-magic rune arrays.
If you et a high-tier earth mage, one ‘Stone to Mud’ would turn your wall into paper.”
“Also, concentrating all your energy cores in the central zone ans one decapitation strike would disable the entire city’s defenses. You should adopt distributed energy, at least three mutually backed-up nodes…”
Mophis spoke until her mouth went dry, while [Divine Strategy’s Math Hut]’s expression shifted from surprise, to awe, to absolute reverence.
He and his so-called “elite players” had stayed up all night, thinking they had made a flawless plan.
Yet to her, it was no more than a child’s doodles, with dozens of fatal flaws pointed out effortlessly.
This was… the realm of a god-tier NPC?
Not only did she possess wealth rivaling nations, and mysterious unmatched powers, but even in city managent and military strategy, she had terrifying mastery!
[Divine Strategy’s Math Hut] gazed at Mophis’s cold, exquisite profile.
In that mont, he finally understood why all those LSPs kept calling her “wifey” day after day.
【Brothers… I was wrong… I once thought to fathom the goddess’s will with re mortal wisdom…】 he confessed in the guild channel.
【She… she is perfection itself! We… we are only fit to be her most loyal executors!】
“I… I understand now!” [Divine Strategy’s Math Hut] gathered up the blueprints excitedly and bowed deeply once more.
“Your Excellency, Guardian, I will imdiately return, reorganize everyone, and revise the plan exactly according to your directives! We will not fail your expectations!”
With that, he ran out like a zealot blessed with divine revelation, hugging his schematics.
Mophis watched his retreating figure, rubbing her brow helplessly.
I just… had a relapse of my occupational disease, that’s all.
Just as she was about to find a place to rest, her player panel—visible only to herself—suddenly chid.
A private ssage, carried by ssenger magic, popped up.
The sender was the imperial envoy who had just departed, Elsa de Orleans.
【Report from Advanced Magic ssenger:】
【Your Excellency, Guardian, forgive for the abrupt disturbance.
After hearing my report, Her Majesty the Empress developed an extrely strong interest in you and in the ‘specialties’ you displayed.】
【She… wishes to et you in person.】
【Would you be willing to accept a personal invitation from the highest ruler of the St.
Orleans Empire?】
