Chapter 33: Wife’s New Quest!
When LaceSupremacy posted the screenshot of the ergency quest called 【The Goddess’s Sanctuary】 together with her own “god-tier interpretation” in the Knights’ public channel, the entire player community’s frenzy was pushed to a brand new peak.
“Holy shit! A hidden quest! And it’s released by Wife herself!”
“I knew it! What’s the point of just making underwear! Action! Action is what matters most!”
“‘The Knight’s protection is the only way to gain the Goddess’s favor’! Brothers, carve this line on your foreheads! What does this an? It ans we’ve gone in the wrong direction before! Wife is enlightening us!”
“Wuwuwu, I’m crying, Wife really… she’s too gentle. She clearly could have ordered us directly, but instead, she reminded us in such a subtle way. She didn’t want to hurt our pride as ‘artists’!”
“Say no more! I feel ashad for hesitating between Plan A or Plan B just now! Right now, I only want to move bricks! To add stones and beams for Wife’s ho!”
The players who were previously still imrsed in their CP fantasy of “The Domineering Dragon King Fell in Love With ” were instantly dragged back to reality.
No—dragged into another, even more passionate and “real” fantasy.
——To protect ho and country!
To guard their shared “Wife” and “holand”!
This kind of quest, brimming with epic grandeur and a sense of duty, was far more thrilling than simply shipping CP.
“【Building Beautification Division】, all mbers listen up!”
The minister, 【Ingenious Beyond Compare】, who had just been smug about the design of the 【Sacred Casket】, now spoke with a voice filled with unprecedented seriousness and fervor.
“Drop everything you’re doing! All top-tier stone, tal, and magical wood in the guild warehouse—move them all to the library!”
“Design team! Imdiately draft a ‘super reinforcent plan’ for the library! I don’t care about aesthetics! I want just one word—hard! Make it so damn hard it’s unbreakable!”
“We’ll lay the foundation with 【Obsidian】! Use 【Dragon Bone Fossils】 as load-bearing pillars! Fill the walls with 【Mithril Alloy】! And cover the outer walls with 【Anti-Magic Rune Slabs】!”
“In 24 hours… no! Within 20 hours! We’ll turn this small library into an impenetrable fortress—even the gods won’t be able to smash it open!”
His words traveled through the guild channel, reaching the ears of every construction-type player, instantly igniting their craftsman’s souls.
“Roger! We’ll get it done!”
“Damn it! I’ve been itching for a grand project like this! Finally, the chance is here!”
“Let that dumb dragon see the power of the Infrastructure Maniacs!”
In an instant, the entire Western Wasteland changed color.
Countless life-skill players surged toward the Forgotten Library like a tidal wave.
So were miners, carrying massive pickaxes, trailed by transport goblins loaded with rare ores.
So were lumberjacks, driving elental ancient trees that hauled logs of iron-hard magical wood.
There were also craftsn, enchanters, alchemists…
Each and every one of them wore an expression of fervor mixed with solemnity, as if they weren’t playing a ga but participating in a sacred war to defend the nation.
The in-ga economy once again fell into violent upheaval.
High-grade building materials that nobody had cared about before skyrocketed in price tenfold in an instant, yet still couldn’t be bought.
At the major auction houses, anything related to “construction,” “defense,” or “barriers” was instantly sold out the mont it was listed.
The two top-tier guilds, 【Battle Maniac Hall】 and 【Immortal-Demon Residence】, also imdiately responded.
“【Battle Maniac Hall】, all combat mbers in the Western Wasteland, listen up!” Guildmaster 【Mad Blade】’s voice thundered across the skies.
“From this mont on, our mission isn’t killing monsters—it’s protection!”
“Set up three defensive lines around the library! Any monster that dares approach the construction site—kill without rcy! Any hostile guild player who dares cause trouble—kill without rcy!”
“We’ll create an absolutely safe construction environnt for our logistics brothers!”
The guildmaster of 【Immortal-Demon Residence】, 【ILoveTomatoes】, also gave orders.
“All mages! Priests! Barrier specialists! Gather imdiately at the library’s front courtyard!”
“Centering on the library, deploy 【Four-Directional Guardian Barrier】! 【Earth’s Tenacity Aura】! 【Holy Light Purification Domain】! Stack every defensive buff we have to the max! Drink mana potions like water! Not even a trace of dragon’s might must touch our ‘sanctuary’!”
The entire 【Mophis Wife Knights】, this enormous war machine, roared into motion with unprecedented efficiency at that mont.
The combat guilds were in charge of periter defense and magical support.
The life guilds were responsible for the core construction.
Clear division of labor, seamless cooperation—their organization and execution left the passing solo players dumbstruck.
“Damn… what are they doing? Building a world wonder?”
“You don’t get it! This is called ‘powering up for love’! Look, this is what the cohesion of a top-tier guild looks like!”
“Shit, watching this is getting my blood pumping. I wanna join too! Tell , is it too late to learn how to move bricks now?”
……
Inside the library.
Through the player interface, Mophis watched the blazing construction frenzy outside and fell into deep confusion.
She had only wanted them to shift their focus away from “underwear” and get so real work done first.
But now, the harder they worked, the more they looked forward to an even greater, even crazier “gift offering” after it was done.
“Is this… considered success, or failure?”
Mophis felt like her brain wasn’t enough to keep up.
She glanced at the quest panel of 【The Goddess’s Sanctuary】, where the progress bar representing “completion” was rising at a visibly terrifying speed.
1%… 5%… 10%…
The players’ efficiency was downright frightening.
At this pace, it might not even take ten hours before they turned this library into an iron fortress that not even a fly could enter.
“Forget it… at least, the safety issue is solved.”
Mophis consoled herself.
As long as she survived, whether they saw her as a “goddess” or as an “inspiration,” it didn’t matter anymore.
As for that so-called “Dragon Calamity Counterasure”…
She’d deal with it later.
As long as she wasn’t embarrassed, it would be others who were embarrassed.
She closed the player interface and was about to find a lighthearted novel from the bookshelf to ease her nerves before they exploded from the players’ antics.
But just as she turned around, she nearly had a heart attack from the sight before her.
On her dressing table, the ornate 【Sacred Casket】 had sohow reappeared out of thin air.
And this ti, the box was open.
Inside, quietly lay a brand-new set of underwear.
Not the 【Pure Guard Series】, nor any of the “Dragon Calamity Counterasures” discussed on the forums.
But a set she had never seen before, filled with an entirely different kind of charm…
Pink lace underwear decorated with tiny strawberry patterns.
Beside the underwear, there was also a small card.
With trembling hands, Mophis picked it up.
On it, written in neat yet playfully charming handwriting, was a single line:
【To my beloved Sister Mophis, a little gift for our first eting. I hope you’ll like it. ——Lilith.】
Lilith?
That na… Mophis vaguely rembered it.
Wasn’t she…
One of the Six Demon Kings—the Succubus Queen, famous as the ultimate “agent of chaos”?!
Why would she…
Mophis’s mind went completely blank with a loud “buzz.”
She abruptly looked up at the window.
In the distance, beyond the frenzy of construction, atop a dead tree stood a purple-haired girl in a gothic dress, with a pair of small demon wings, swinging her pale legs as she sat perched on the treetop.
Sensing Mophis’s gaze, she tilted her head up, smiled sweetly yet mischievously in the library’s direction, and even playfully winked.
