Chapter 47: A Careless Slip, Breakthrough Again?

Lance was engulfed by electricity. He slumped to the ground and was unable to fight anymore. This brought an end to the fight, and unsurprisingly ng Lei won!

He then swaggered off with 50,000 gold coins under the frustrated gazes of the Dragon People nobility!

“Brother, you are so amazing! Can you tell how exactly did you manage to perform the instant release of a third-grade spell? Have you reached the level of the great Seventh-Grade Magician?”

“Would you believe if I told you so?”

“Uh... it seems unlikely, right?”

“In that case, why did you ask?

“Fine! By the way, brother, you just won 50,000 gold coins. Shall we go out and have a good al to celebrate?”

“I’m afraid not!”

“Why?”

“Because I am going to see Departnt Head Dirk now, do you want to go together?”

“Look for him? No, thanks!”

As soon as ng Lei ntioned the head teacher, Fatty Hart’s face changed instantly. He shook his head vigorously and ran off as though he was fleeing from sothing!

“This fellow...”

ng Lei smiled and shook his head. He then headed toward the teaching faculty building and soon arrived at Departnt Head Dirk’s office!

As the departnt head for the entire first grade, Departnt Head Dirk’s office was huge. However, its fittings were unremarkable and unpretentious. The most important thing was the bookshelves, which took up a lot of space!

When ng Lei entered the office, Dirk Norway, the head teacher, was standing in front of a bookshelf, engrossed in a magic book!

ng Lei executed a perfect magic salute and asked respectfully, “Departnt Head Dirk, are you looking for ?”

Departnt Head Dirk did not answer, but pointed to the rows of bookshelves and said with a smile, “ng Lei, what do you think about my collection of books?”

“Departnt Head Dirk, you have a vast collection of books!”

ng Lei glanced at the nurous magic books and praised them sincerely. The number of books here was comparable to a library!

“Hehe, naturally!”

Departnt Head Dirk said proudly, “I have accumulated all the magic books of the ten magic elents here, including the basics of magic, the theory of magic, as well as the scientific information on materials, alchemy, magic formations, astrology, and so on!

“Oh yes, there are also books on Dragon magic chants, Giant People’s magic, Elven magic, and Beast People totems. Haha, almost everything!”

“Looks like Departnt Head Dirk is into books!”

ng Lei was stunned. He couldn’t help but expressed his admiration!

“Magic is a journey, profound and complex, as vast as the stars in the sky. Even if we exhaust all our lifespans, it is difficult to understand even a tiny portion of magic’s true essence!” Departnt Head Dirk had a pious expression. “There is nothing we can do except to research and study hard in order to understand a thing or two!”

“I agree. Thank you for your lesson, Departnt Head Dirk!”

ng Lei was convinced. At the sa ti, he understood why Departnt Head Dirk was already a top-tier Ninth-Grade Magician ntor despite being in his 50s. He deserved this achievent with his eager-to-learn attitude!

He was a little over 50 years old, a top-tier Ninth-Grade Magician, and one step away from the Saint Domain!

This was already a rare achievent!

“You are very talented. This is sothing that countless people could only dream of. But you have to understand that talent is only the key to unlocking the treasure called magic. Whether you are able to get the treasure in the end and how much you receive depends on your hard work!” Departnt Head Dirk looked at ng Lei and asked, “Do... you understand?”

“Understood!” ng Lei nodded his head.

“Will you continue to skip class in the future?”

“Skip!” ng Lei answered without any hesitation!

“...”

Departnt Head Dirk was taken aback for a mont and beca furious. He had deliberately cultivated the atmosphere and spent the effort to teach using precepts and examples. All this for nothing!

Still skipping? What a straightforward answer!

He was furious!

Departnt Head Dirk pointed at ng Lei and trembled in anger. Just as he was about to go wild, the office’s door opened, and the judging teacher in charge of the ring walked in happily!

“Departnt Head Dirk, congratulations!”

As soon as the judging teacher walked through the door, he congratulated Departnt Head Dirk loudly. As he ca around the bookshelf and saw ng Lei and Departnt Head Dirk, he couldn’t help being stunned. “Student ng Lei is here too!”

Right after he finished his sentence, and without waiting for ng Lei to answer, he smiled and said to the head teacher, “Departnt Head Dirk, you must be complinting student ng Lei? Oh yes, student ng Lei is such an outstanding student. He deserves praise!”

Departnt Head Dirk was confused. He looked at ng Lei, then at the teacher, and asked puzzledly, “Mr. Joe, what are you talking about?”

“Departnt Head Dirk, stop acting!”

The teacher, Joe Bolton, laughed and said. “ng Lei fought in the ring and insta-released a third-grade spell to defeat Lance, a first-year student from Class 2, effortlessly...”

“Wait!” Departnt Head Dirk interrupted Mr. Joe, and asked with a look of confusion. “ng Lei used instant release? A third-grade spell, you say!?”

“Departnt Head Dirk, have you not heard of this?”

Upon seeing Departnt Head Dirk’s expression, Mr. Joe realized what was going on and said with a smile, “This is what happened...”

After listening to Mr. Joe, Departnt Head Dirk was shocked. He stared at ng Lei for a long ti before saying, “Is what Mr. Joe said true? Can you cast third-grade spells instantly?”

“Yes!” ng Lei nodded. He did not deny it, and there was no need to. He believed this had spread throughout the entire academy by now.

“Only a Seventh-Grade Magician can instantly cast third-grade spells!”

Departnt Head Dirk stared directly at ng Lei with a flickering gaze, as if he was trying to see through ng Lei. “You are only a Third-Grade Magician, how did you manage to do that?”

“Departnt Head Dirk, I accidentally had a breakthrough!” ng Lei scratched his head. “Now, I am a Fourth-Grade Magician!”

ng Lei tried to hide his awkwardness. He did not want people to know that he had beco a Fifth-Grade Magician. His speed was too fast. He was worried it might bring him trouble!

“Accidentally?”

“Fourth-Grade Magician?”

Departnt Head Dirk and Mr. Joe looked at each other. They did not know what to say. After a while, Departnt Head Dirk frowned and said, “Even if you are a Fourth-Grade Magician, you should be unable to instantly release third-grade spells. This does not conform to logic!”

ng Lei scratched his head and said sothing ambiguous, “Maybe my spiritual power is extraordinarily strong?”

“Spiritual power?” Mr. Joe asked puzzledly, “ng Lei, your spiritual power should have been assessed before. How many levels has it managed to reach?”

“I did have it assessed during the mid-term examination. However, I deliberately hid my actual power at that ti!” ng Lei said with a smile, “Hence, I was assessed with the spiritual power of a Third-Grade Magician!”

“What about your actual spiritual power level?” asked Mr. Joe.

“Was not assessed before! It should be stronger than a Third-Grade Magician,” replied ng Lei.

“Why don’t you have it assessed?”

Mr. Joe looked at the head teacher. “Departnt Head Dirk, do you have a Spiritual Tester here? Why not we let student ng Lei have his spiritual power assessed?”

“There’s no need to!” Departnt Head Dirk waved his hand as his gaze flickered. “Only a great Seventh-Grade Magician can instantly release third-grade spells. Even if ng Lei’s spiritual power has not reached seventh-grade, it shouldn’t be too far behind. There’s no need to assess it!”

“Quite true!” Mr. Joe agreed and turned towards ng Lei. “Despite your young age, you already possess such potent spiritual power. Student ng Lei, your future is limitless!”

“Thank you, Mr. Joe!”

ng Lei smiled. He knew very well what was going on. The reason why he could achieve the instant release of third-grade spells was not because of his strong spiritual power, but rather... the system!
