Chapter 910: Darkness And Steel
The ancestors, heralds and priestess focused on pinning down the disaster beasts, preventing them from wreaking havoc upon the warriors facing the endless tide of undeads, but although there were nine of them in total, and only seven disaster beasts currently fighting, as Eclipse had snuck away, and The Song was still locked in a lyrical duel with Ansonio, that didn’t an that so of them could assist the soldiers, not only did so of these disaster beasts require multiple of them to properly pin down, but they weren’t the only problems.
Zilania had been using erald light to fly around, facing off against a sort of serpentine leech creature that was so dark that it seed to absorb light, that thing would spit out pure darkness and shape it into whatever was necessary, naturally, against an Erald Herald, that particular beast was unable to exert its full strength, and the more the battle progresses the more it seed to struggle.
But that wasn’t only due to her, Solzmimi’s incessant flashes of erald light constantly washed over the battlefield and beyond, whether intentionally or not, she had not only been battering End, but also the disaster beast known as Slider, the light was harmful to all undeads, but especially to those that held an affinity for the dark, several undead casters of such a nature, were literally set ablaze because of this, the beast was emitting smoke as well.
The constructs of Slider struggled not only to remain tangible, but to simply exist to begin with, leading the soft-bodied leech to start trying to get up-close with the herald, it was difficult to tell with part was the head or the tail, as its shape was constantly bloating and twisting, it’s teeth seed to be completely black as well, so even if it opened its maw wide to try and swallow her whole, it was nearly impossible to notice, but it didn’t matter, Zilania was not going to hang out near it in the first place.
Transforming into light, she darted all around it whilst bombarding the dark beast relentlessly, whilst light was its natural enemy, the darkness it was made off and could wield was also capable of being a problem to light, so Zilania had to pour so strength behind each attack so that it would pierce the body of Slider, but when it did, so of the darkness would dissipate or be weakened, coupled with the assistance from her ancestor, the eldest Erald Herald was steadily wilting down a disaster beast, the instant it seed like the darkness coating its body was weak enough, she manifested a large blade out of erald light.
A guillotine of tightly compressed light, that ca swinging down at barely perceptible speed, digging halfway into the creature’s body, nearly severing it into two, maintaining control over the blade, Zilania pushed it further into the leech’s flesh of darkness, that creature had no bones whatsoever, but it seed like the deeper you went, the more potent the darkness beca, the guillotine pressed further in, but was eventually overwheld by the dark nesting within.
This was no problem, she simply created another one, which should be plenty enough to separate the beast into two, Slider attempted to nd itself using darkness, but another flash of light from Solzmimi stunned the process for a mont, the inner darkness sizzling as it montarily was out of the beast’s control, allowing Zilania to successfully bisect her target.
‘Still not done for?’ this did not surprise the living too much, rising one arm up, she prepared to cast a wide pillar of light upon her opponent, before, maintaining attacks of erald light was not worth it as the darkness was still potent enough to quickly erode the efficiency of the light constructs, making swift and decisive blows much more useful and less wasteful.
But right now, the darkness was completely thrown off balance, it was all exposed to the shines of the erald sun and assaulted by the glows of the ancestor, Slider would not be able to resist.
So within a second, Zilania brought her hand down to cast the pillar of light, only for her hand to be caught partway through the motion.
‘I didn’t notice them approaching?’ before the hand could clench and turn her forearm into dust, the herald turned into light and moved away, anwhile, the pillar she had casted fell upon the disaster beast, the motion was just sothing she did, it wasn’t actually necessary.
“Oh, and here I thought I had done sothing cool… My bad Slidy, I’ll make it up to you later!” the undead said sothing into death tongue to the beast, which was partly dissolved by now, not done for completely, but absolutely out of combat, the light everywhere was not conducive in the least to its recovery, in fact, it would probably completely dissipate after a few more flashes of light from the ancestor.
The undead turned back to Zilania, mimicked a cough and gracefully bowed.
“It is my pleasure to finally et an Erald Herald, I have heard a lot about you guys, but this realm was under the jurisdiction of the vanguard already, so you know, I couldn’t really drop what I was doing to visit- Loimos had not told that there was such a mature, beautiful lady here though, which of the three herald are you?” the corpse spoke with a certain tangible glee, which felt very off-putting considering that everyone had grown used to the unfeeling and emotionally deprived undeads for the most part.
This one seed genuinely happy to be here though.
“I am Zilania” she responded whilst scrutinising the skeleton that was floating in air in front of her.
“That’s a cute na-”
“And who are you? You don’t seem like a lieutenant” the herald frowned, she had seen and faced a few lieutenants herself, and although they could have so personality, it was clear that they were focused on their duties to a great degree, and moreover, they were definitely weaker than this one.
“Good eye! Young Loimos sort of invited over, if you will… I wasn’t expecting that it was because he would be doing sothing so dangerous, but that doesn’t matter- I am an advisor to his majesty, King Nitok! Otherwise known as Faraday”
The skeleton of steel rose his chin, and one would feel like his skull was smiling.
And with a flick of his hand, a few dozen swords just appeared out of thin air, all of which launched themselves right at the herald.
“It’s been a while since I have been in a fight, hopefully I am not too rusty”
