"Fatty?"

After Xiao Yi finished speaking, he received no response from Fatty for a long ti. He found it strange and looked over at him, only to imdiately notice an unusual expression on Fatty’s face. Xiao Yi paused, his eyes filled with confusion, and called out to him.

"It’s nothing."

Fatty suddenly ca back to his senses, managing to muster a forced smile, and responded to Xiao Yi.

"I didn’t ask if sothing was the matter, what happened to you just now? Did you rember sothing? Do you know about Li Ling’s troubles?"

Xiao Yi wasn’t dumb; Fatty had changed his deanor right after Xiao Yi spoke that sentence. It wasn’t hard to guess that Fatty’s strange expression just then might be related to Li Ling’s troubles.

"No, no, how could I know her troubles?"

Upon hearing Xiao Yi’s question, a flash of panic crossed Fatty Tang’s face. He abruptly turned his head away, not daring to et Xiao Yi’s eyes, and a hint of guilt flashed through his eyes.

You don’t know?

You really don’t know?

Xiao Yi quietly watched Fatty Tang with a barely visible smile on the corner of his mouth, yet he said nothing.

"Boss, I really troubled you today because of my business. I have sothing else to take care of, so I’ll head back first. Next ti, I’ll treat you to a al to properly thank you!"

Seeing that Xiao Yi was silent and just looking at him with that odd smile on his face, Fatty Tang grew even more flustered, completely avoiding Xiao Yi’s gaze. He hurriedly finished speaking, then turned and ran off as if he were escaping.

"This damn fatty..."

Watching Fatty Tang flee, Xiao Yi shook his head, a wry smile spreading across his face.

He knew Fatty Tang was fleeing in such a hurry because he was afraid to face him, and it was out of a sense of guilt towards him. In fact, Xiao Yi had been about to speak. He wanted to tell Fatty Tang that whether or not he knew about Li Ling’s troubles, and even if there was so reason he couldn’t tell him, it didn’t matter to Xiao Yi. He would think of a solution himself and try his best to find a good way to deal with the situation.

He was not one to gossip, after all.

Moreover, knowing Fatty Tang as he did, if it wasn’t for so special circumstance, he wouldn’t have kept things from Xiao Yi. Since it was a special circumstance, Xiao Yi was all the more unwilling to pry.

But he was still sowhat depressed. Did Fatty Tang really see him, Xiao Yi, as soone so petty and so nosy? Did he really misunderstand him that much? To the point of avoiding him like this.

Now that you know what’s in her heart, things should be much easier to handle. Hope you can sort out that knot sooner rather than later, kid.

Shaking his head, Xiao Yi took one more look at Fatty Tang’s retreating figure before turning and heading back to Azure Waterfront.

............

All day the next day, Fatty Tang did not co to school, probably off to find Li Ling, but the outco was uncertain. Xiao Yi spent the day silently praying for him, hoping he would win his beauty over, unsure if his wishes had any effect.

He wanted to call and check on Fatty Tang after class in the afternoon, but after hesitating for a mont, he decided it was best not to poke his nose into it and appear overly nosy. After all, whatever happened, he would find out sooner or later.

Since he had arranged to have dinner with Chen Jianguo that evening, Xiao Yi did not rush back after the afternoon classes ended. Instead, he went to the library, spent so ti looking over a dical book, and morized a bit of the Pharmacopoeia, killing so ti before heading straight to Chen Jianguo’s Jingyue Pavilion from school.

Having been there before, he was familiar with the route. Moreover, probably because Chen Jianguo had learned from their last experience and was cautious of a repeat, he had alerted the staff at Jingyue Pavilion. As soon as Xiao Yi appeared at the entrance, the servers treated him like a VIP and ushered him into the best private room, the Emperor Hall.

Although he had tid his arrival well, and Chen Jianguo had repeatedly assured him that he would not be busy and would arrive on ti, Xiao Yi got to the restaurant only to learn that Chen Jianguo and Liu Yuan had been delayed by so matters and had called to apologize.

It wasn’t until half an hour later that Liu Yuan and Chen Jianguo hurried into the hall.

As soon as he entered, Chen Jianguo’s face showed extre remorse as he repeatedly apologized to Xiao Yi. Once the banquet was served, Chen continued to down nearly 500 grams of liquor, incessantly apologizing to Xiao Yi for being late, among other things. Liu Yuan tried to interject and take a few drinks for him, but was scolded instead, which made Xiao Yi feel a bit overwheld. In the end, knowing that Chen Jianguo really needed to vent, Xiao Yi simply stopped trying to stop him, matching him drink for drink.

Luckily, Chen Jianguo’s alcohol tolerance was indeed very impressive. Despite all that liquor, he did not collapse drunk; he was cordial in both expression and conversation, which Xiao Yi greatly admired.

Keep in mind, his own ability to hold his liquor was cheating—alcohol was transford the mont it entered his body and never affected his brain. But Chen’s tolerance was genuine. And what kind of liquor was served in the VIP Emperor Hall of Jingyue Pavilion? These were clear: almost all national spirits, extrely strong, with alcohol content over sixty percent. Being able to drink such a high amount without falling drunk, if Chen lived in ancient tis, he probably would have earned nicknas like "The Wine Immortal" or the like.

Even with divine skills to avoid drunkenness, after Chen Jianguo took several trips to the restroom, Xiao Yi finally couldn’t hold it any longer and excused himself to use the facilities as well. In front of both n, he couldn’t very well expel the excess fluid from his body openly and blatantly.

Reaching the restroom, he found a quiet corner stall and mildly activated the Carefree True Scripture. The excess alcohol and water in his body were expelled through his fingertips, streaming out as if he were draining water.

About half a minute later, Xiao Yi felt a refreshing sensation throughout his body as he fully returned to his most comfortable state.

Having stopped the cultivation, he left the stall and went to a very elegant washstand nearby. He cleaned his hands with the efficient night-ti hand wash, thanked the attendant who was there to serve guests and pass them paper towels, and handed him a hundred-yuan note as a tip before turning to walk out the door.
