“What’s this about us hitting people? She’s unskilled at her job, so we lectured her a little, and she laid down and pretended to be dead! She hit herself! Just look at what she did to our little baby!” The young boy’s grandma was quite smart, and ca up with an excuse to avoid responsibility!

“What if they dare to attack us?”
“They dare to attack you? What, are all of your security guards’ hands tied or sothing? I’ll also contact the police station right now for additional backup.”
Actually, the patient’s family wasn’t here to start yet another fight. They just felt that they should stir this up into a big incident and pressure the hospital into compromising with them and paying them compensation. However, they had overthought things.
Superintendent Ouyang had quite a hard-nosed personality to begin with. Not to ntion, this incident wasn’t the hospital’s fault at all. Compromise would be impossible for soone like her.
This was the year 2010. Security caras and other types of electronic surveillance weren’t commonplace yet. This made it difficult for the police to gather any concrete evidence. It was a he-said she-said situation. The patient’s family wanted to discuss things with the hospital’s leader. However, Superintendent Ouyang directly refused. As was typical for Chinese police, they just wanted the trouble to go away without actually solving the problem at hand. They declared that both sides would simply be responsible for their own dical fees. If the parties were dissatisfied with this, they could take it to court.
“If they dare to sue us, let them try! Tell the patient’s family that if they dare to harass our doctors or nurses, I’ll never let them go!” Superintendent Ouyang declared her position quite clearly to the hospital administration director.
Although she was quite dissatisfied with the police’s verdict, there wasn’t anything else that she could do. The police couldn’t do anything to the patient’s family as the elderly and the very young were involved. The police were afraid of losing reputation and face.
Superintendent Ouyang gave the injured nurse Little Li a month of vacation. Chasu City Hospital would pay for her dical bills related to this incident.
Zhang Fan was also given a week’s worth of vacation. This was because Superintendent Ouyang was worried that the patient’s family would try and take revenge on Zhang Fan for this incident.
