She wasn’t embarrassed for being caught staring at Xiang Yiqing earlier.

A light, airy smile appeared on her face, her voice still soft and gentle, "You’re much more approachable now."

Xiang Yiqing raised an amused eyebrow, "Was I really that aloof before?"

"At least..." Qiu Yang smiled, carefully choosing his words, "At least you wouldn’t chat about gossip with young girls much younger than you."

Gossip... did he?

Xiang Yiqing frowned, recalling his conversation with the assistant nurse.

From across the room, Qiu Yang asked, "Are you still doing charity work all the ti?"

"Yeah," Xiang Yiqing nodded, "I try to make ti whenever I’m free."

He tries to do it as much as possible because he doesn’t know how much longer he can keep it up, before he feels overwheld like his father.

"No wonder you’re still single," Qiu Yang teased him with a grin, then continued with an old refrain, "You’re always so busy, no ti to watch movies together, no ti to go shopping, no ti for romantic dinners, no ti for dates. Nowadays, not many girls can put up with that. You can’t go on like this."

"True," Xiang Yiqing nodded, "That’s why even soone as patient as you couldn’t take it."

It was just a casual joke.

But the smile froze on Qiu Yang’s face, making Xiang Yiqing realize he probably shouldn’t have brought up past matters.

He was about to explain, when Qiu Yang spoke first, "Sorry."

The sincere apology made Xiang Yiqing feel even more awkward.

He smiled, "I was joking, I didn’t an to bla you."

A brief explanation and he turned his gaze back to the computer screen in front of him.

The whole morning was filled with consultations, and he drank several cups of water.

After finally seeing the last patient, Xiang Yiqing took off his non-prescription glasses, raised one hand, and rubbed his brow with long fingers.

While rubbing, he asked the assistant nurse beside him, "No more appointnts, right?"

"There’s... there’s still one more," the young nurse replied hesitantly.

Her tone was sowhat timid.

"One more?" Xiang Yiqing frowned, looking at the computer screen, which clearly showed no appointnts for him.

While he was wondering, a small figure ca in from outside the door.

Even from the corner of his eye, he could sense her liveliness.

Xiang Yiqing: "..."

So things, so people, are truly inescapable no matter how hard you try.

"Xiang Yiqing, the nursing ho called and said Grandma Zhou hasn’t been well these past few days. I’m going over this afternoon, are you coming?"

Xin Xiaoxiao was dressed in an orange-red jumpsuit, carrying a small white Chanel bag. She had recently cut her hair short, shoulder-length, with a slight inward curl at the ends for a classy look.

If she didn’t open her mouth, she really looked like a lady, but once she did, that changed.

She swaggered over to Xiang Yiqing, and with her presence, the atmosphere in the spacious clinic naturally beca more lively.

Xiang Yiqing had already felt a headache from exhaustion earlier, and seeing Xin Xiaoxiao now, especially knowing she was going to the nursing ho in the afternoon, made it worse.

He held his forehead, didn’t want to lift his head, didn’t want to look at her.

"Dr. Qiu is here too," Xin Xiaoxiao walked up to Xiang Yiqing, smiling and greeted Qiu Yang opposite him.

The smile was genuine.

Qiu Yang nodded back with a slight smile, "Miss Xin."
