In the car, a vague and indescribable atmosphere lingered.
An Yin, constrained by Shi Qing’s presence, initially wanted to ask the man if he had been waiting there the whole ti. Ultimately, she didn’t have the courage to speak up.
However, from the back seat, Shi Qing noticed that no one was speaking and casually remarked, "Mr. Bao is really considerate!" Shi Qing was usually a quiet person, and it was rare for her to initiate conversation with a man.
So, after Shi Qing spoke, the most surprised person was An Yin. She shyly lowered her head, feeling as if a little deer was running wild in her heart, with her heartbeat thundering.
"It’s what I should do," Bao Shaojin’s deep dark eyes sparkled with a mysterious light, and the rare curve on his thin lips made him appear intriguing.
The aning of the man’s words was clear; taking care of An Yin was his responsibility.
So, he had already regarded An Yin as his possession. Shi Qing pondered.
In the silent car, An Yin’s body was tense; a few simple words from the man, and she dared not think too much, afraid of misinterpreting his aning.
"Mr. Bao, being so accomplished at such a young age, is truly admirable."
During a pause in Shi Qing’s words, her gaze remained on the man’s back. In just a few words exchanged, she could sense his vigilance and caution.
Since childhood, Shi Qing had been stepping into society to earn money, making her more perceptive than her peers.
"Miss Shi, you’re too kind!" A barely noticeable emotion flashed through Bao Shaojin’s dark eyes.
The other party kept steering the conversation towards him, speaking so openly, evidently not fearing that he would discern her intentions. Such candidness in expressing her agenda made Bao Shaojin regard her with renewed respect.
"Mr. Bao, do you have any siblings?" Shi Qing suddenly asked bluntly.
This caused An Yin to turn her face full of confusion to look at her.
"What, is Miss Shi conducting a background check?" Bao Shaojin said aloud.
"Not at all." Shi Qing turned her head, looking at the fleeting neon lights outside the window, "Just asking casually, I hope Mr. Bao won’t mind."
Of course, Bao Shaojin wouldn’t hold it against her.
An Yin finally sensed a hint of sothing unusual; she couldn’t help but glance at the two of them, suppressing her thoughts until she got out of the car and reached their destination.
Shi Qing, being considerate, got out of the car first and stood by the roadside waiting for her.
An Yin awkwardly glanced at the man, "You haven’t acknowledged my paynt."
Bao Shaojin took out his phone from his pocket, unlocked it, and unexpectedly tossed it to An Yin, "Help with it."
Fortunately, An Yin reacted quickly and caught it.
The phone had been warm from being in the man’s pocket, and as An Yin held it in both hands, she felt a flush of warmth spread through her palms, coursing through her body.
However, fearing that the man wouldn’t accept the money, An Yin nervously found WeChat. When she opened it, the first thing she saw was the pinned contact.
It’s her!
An Yin’s cheeks turned instantly red. Afraid of seeing sothing private on the man’s phone, she hurriedly clicked on their chat and helped him accept the paynt. At that mont, the phone felt like a hot potato, "Here you go."
She handed the phone back to the man.
Bao Shaojin looked at her slender white hands, eyes darkened, and slowly took it.
In the next second, without saying a word, An Yin got out of the car.
Bao Shaojin watched her clumsy manner, eyes fixed on her back for a long ti, until the girl completely disappeared from his sight.
Turning the corner, An Yin and Shi Qing walked side by side.
During this ti, An Yin kept glancing at Shi Qing, wanting to speak but hesitating.
"What do you want to ask?" Shi Qing asked directly, pinpointing An Yin’s curiosity without hesitation.
Upon hearing this, An Yin’s already flushed face beca even more vibrant, "You seed a bit strange just now." An Yin didn’t dare make assumptions and could only voice her doubt.
"You an when I asked if Mr. Bao has any siblings." The two walked under the street lamps, the lush tree shadows on either side of the road underfoot. Shi Qing looked ahead at the alternating light and dark path, her expression unusually calm.
"Yeah, yeah." An Yin nodded vigorously.
To her, Shi Qing and Bao Shaojin were like two parallel lines, completely devoid of any intersection. However, from tonight’s situation, An Yin had a lingering feeling that Shi Qing was very interested in Bao Shaojin’s family?
Perhaps she was overthinking it, An Yin mused.
"An Yin, there are so things I don’t want to talk about right now, but I promise, I will never harm you." Shi Qing’s gaze was piercing.
Shi Qing’s serious deanor made An Yin feel apprehensive, "It’s okay if you don’t want to say anything. Everyone has their secrets. Don’t worry, I won’t ask again."
"Thank you." Shi Qing’s voice was helpless yet sincere.
The two walked in silence, quietly heading towards the dormitory.
Even though Shi Qing hadn’t shared her secret, An Yin could see her low spirits and murmured, "Shi Qing, if you’re ever feeling down and need soone to talk to, I’m always here."
Shi Qing’s body stiffened, her footsteps growing heavy. At that mont, a surge of energy filled her weathered heart, making her feel a bittersweet sensation, "Okay!" Shi Qing’s voice trembled a little.
Seeing Shi Qing agree, An Yin’s lips curved upwards, and her long-lonely heart seed to co alive again.
Since Jiang Keke took a leave from school, she hadn’t felt this way for a long ti. Thinking about Jiang Keke, An Yin suddenly realized that her previous ssages to Jiang seed to have vanished like a stone sinking into the sea, without any reply from her.
So, did Jiang Keke and Bao Cheng really break up? With this question in mind, the first thing An Yin did upon returning to the dormitory was to call Jiang Keke.
Seeing that she was going to make a call, Shi Qing went to the bathroom for a shower first.
At the desk, An Yin kept waiting for Jiang Keke to pick up the phone, but after calling twice, there was no answer.
To be precise, ever since she and Bao Cheng got together, their contact seed to have abruptly decreased, and now, not only were her texts unanswered, but even calls went unconnected.
An Yin couldn’t understand why.
Jiang Keke was used to staying up late; it was unlikely she’d be asleep at this hour.
As for the calls not going through? Unless she had changed her number, which seed unlikely.
An Yin sat there, feeling indescribably upset. She didn’t want to admit that Jiang Keke was intentionally distancing herself, always believing that Jiang must be dealing with sothing troubleso, leaving no ti to reach out.
Holding onto this thought, she called again.
Jiang Keke had set a pleasant ringtone. An Yin listened to it play several tis, holding her breath, hoping for the call to be answered. Finally, when she had almost given up hope, the call connected.
An Yin shouted joyfully, "Keke..."
"Are you Keke’s friend? Keke is drunk now and can’t co to the phone." The other person deliberated before saying, "How about I ask her to call you back when she’s sober?"
