Capítulo 969: Chapter 3: Lian Wanzhen

After he leaves, who will take care of his wife? She’s about to give birth. Without him, how will they manage? No, he’s not going.

Yin Luoyang didn’t imdiately say yes or no at the ti; she kept it in her mind, planning to discuss it with Su Ran later.

When Su Ran heard about it, he didn’t hide anything from her and shared Lian Wanzhen’s childhood aspirations, along with many of his reckless childhood antics.

Yin Luoyang was amused, and by the end of the conversation, she was determined and talked it over with Su Ran. She wanted Lian Wanzhen to go.

She felt sorry for her husband, a grown man stuck at ho daily. She didn’t want him to waste his talents because of her. A man should aspire to great achievents and success.

Su Ran sighed, telling Yin Luoyang there’s no need to feel guilty. It’s his responsibility. A man should protect his wife and children, so there’s no need for self-bla.

As for Lian Wanzhen’s aspirations, Su Ran had no objections. As long as the couple discussed it and agreed, their family would fully support them.

So Yin Luoyang went to talk to Lian Wanzhen, suggesting he apply for the Imperial City Division, but he refused no matter what.

It was the first ti Yin Luoyang got angry. Lin Yuejuan happened to pass by and heard, so she ca to persuade him.

Lian Bingcheng and Lian Changhe heard about it and ca over, scolding Lian Wanzhen with hands on their hips, saying he was being unreasonable and shouldn’t upset his wife.

Finally, when they heard it was about joining the Imperial City Division, they realized the job ant being away daily, unable to help at ho.

On normal days, the family could manage everything, and besides, Lian Bao was there. Why would it have to be Lian Wanzhen?

However, Yin Luoyang was pregnant, which complicated things. None of them could replace Lian Wanzhen’s role.

This, this, this… they were all at a loss.

In the end, Lian Bingcheng murmured, “He might not even pass the exam, so why make a fuss?”

Everyone suddenly saw the light.

Yin Luoyang had an idea and decided to use delaying tactics, asking Lian Wanzhen to give it a try first, and they would discuss more once he passed.

So, Lian Wanzhen was pushed into signing up, and though he usually dreaded reading, during the exams, he showed no fear. He advanced through each stage, eventually taking the top spot, proving himself naturally suited for a military general.

By then, Yin Luoyang had convinced the entire Lian Family, so when Lian Wanzhen returned from the exam, everyone persuaded him to go.

After all, starting at the Imperial City Division ant staying in the Capital City and not traveling elsewhere. Once his duties were done, he’d return ho daily. What’s the use of staying ho and being idle?

During Lian Wanzhen’s martial exams, Commander Han of the Imperial Guards was present. He took an imdiate liking to Lian Wanzhen, and later, upon realizing he was the Emperor’s brother-in-law, he was surprised.

No one had ntioned anything about this? The Lian Family was so low-key? They just showed up with real skills and took the exam, without informing anyone.

He took Lian Wanzhen’s impressive exam results to present to the Emperor.

When the Emperor saw that Lian Wanzhen was the top scorer, he was surprised, as he hadn’t heard about it.

So he went back to ask Lian Hua, who was delighted to hear it and felt proud of her second brother, bragging to Xiao Youyou for a long ti.

But she hadn’t heard about it either. However, knowing her second brother had passed on his own rits, she was all for it.

The Emperor decided to proceed with Lian Wanzhen’s integration into the ranks through regular procedures, with no special treatnt.

Thus, Lian Wanzhen joined the Imperial City Division, becoming a low-rank Imperial Guard, patrolling the city daily. With reliable work, he gradually gained more responsibilities.

When Xiao Youyou was four or five, Lian Wanzhen once went on a mission to quell bandits and received a promotion, getting transferred to guard the Imperial Palace.

As for Xiao Youyou, from a young age, it was clear he wasn’t a docile child. Full of energy, he wandered everywhere, wandering outside the Star Palace, causing many old ministers to linger there after court.

Later, when he was three, the Emperor sent him to the Southern Study Room for enlightennt, which helped calm things down a bit.

However, after Lian Wanzhen went to guard the Imperial Palace, the situation changed.

Back when his Empress Mother was just two and a half, his Uncle had coaxed her into mischief, and now the nephew and uncle were a perfect match.

So, after school, Xiao Youyou was either farming or hanging out with his Uncle, never lacking in excitent.

Xiao Youyou began his martial arts training under Lian Wanzhen’s guidance. Lian Wanzhen would start showing off with his swordsmanship or archery, even when plowing the fields using his impressive strength technique.

These antics srized Xiao Youyou, who quickly grew interested.

The boy was naturally bright and as energetic as his Empress Mother. Once interested, he pursued things to the fullest, persistent through all conditions.
