Capítulo 968: Chapter 2: Lian Wanzhen

However, they found that the group of military generals, usually imposing with long arms and legs, had suddenly turned timid and withdrawn, like a bunch of bears, trying hard to minimize their presence, and no longer clamoring to cause mischief in the bridal chamber.

Wang San and his lads even made a special point of mocking them.

At this wedding feast, the groom’s family made a collective appearance, after which Lian Bingcheng and Lin Yuejuan took over the hosting, while the rest of the Lian Family seed to have gone to entertain so important guests.

So guests felt neglected, but those in the know quickly silenced them, saying they were insignificant compared to the people inside.

Don’t forget what kind of family the Lian Family is, the family of Her Majesty the Empress!

Lian Hua saw her second brother’s proud look during the bridal procession with her own eyes, and she felt incredibly satisfied. Although she hadn’t seen her elder brother’s wedding, being able to witness her second brother’s was enough for her.

It was just a pity that she did not see the wedding ceremony; there were too many people, and it was not appropriate for her and the Emperor to appear. She also didn’t want to disrupt her second brother’s happy event and distract people’s attention onto her and the Emperor.

Lian Hua sighed wistfully: “Master, alas, being your Empress is wonderful, but it’s quite inconvenient outside the palace.”

Anyone who sees her would have to bow, and if she was recognized, the whole set of formalities would follow, which was exhausting.

The Emperor shook his head with a smile, and putting an arm around her shoulder, said: “Nannan has worked hard. Your third brother has not yet married. Would you like to attend his wedding, perhaps?”

Lian Hua refused, saying it wouldn’t be right. She didn’t want to intrude on her second brother’s ceremony, so how could she intrude on her third brother’s? It wouldn’t do.

The Emperor retorted: “How do you know your third brother doesn’t wish for it? Compared to others, I feel they would rather have you there.”

Lian Hua was taken aback. Is that so?

When it ca ti for Lian Bao to get married, it was truly as the Emperor said—only the closest family attended the ceremony.

To accommodate Lian Hua and the Emperor, during Lian Bao’s wedding, only family mbers closest to the Lian Family were invited. Though the guest list wasn’t extensive, each person present held substantial aning.

Lian Wanzhen beat his chest in regret. If he had known it could have been done this way, he would have personally chased away the wedding guests back then, leaving only those closest to witness the ceremony. Little sister wouldn’t have had so much trouble and could have co to see in person.

What could be more important than little sister? It’s a significant day in life, and not having little sister there to witness it feels so disappointing!

But it was already too late by then.

Going back to the day Lian Wanzhen got married, Lian Hua and the Emperor discreetly went to the Lian Family after the ceremony, and the family truly reunited.

Lian Hua got to see the bride with her own eyes and heard Lian Wanzhen boast about how impressive he was during the bridal procession, exclaiming in admiration, and then they enjoyed a feast with only Lian Family mbers present before heading back.

At that ti, Xiao Youyou was still too young to bring along. After returning, Lian Hua described the scene to her little one, looking as if she hadn’t had enough of it.

Later, when Xiao Youyou was over a year old, the Emperor arranged for the Lian Family to visit the palace. Lian Changhe, Lian Bingcheng, and Lian Wanzhen t Xiao Youyou for the first ti, while Lian Bao, working at the Internal Guard Bureau, had already seen her.

At that ti, every family mber took turns holding Xiao Youyou, reluctant to let go.

After Lian Wanzhen got married, he helped out with the family business and his mother-in-law’s family affairs, leading a life neither too exciting nor too dull.

One day, during a drinking session, soone asked: “Brother Lian, the Imperial City Division recruits every couple of years and is recruiting again now. I see you are skilled in martial arts, adept with all sorts of weapons. Why don’t you try out?”

This remark stuck in Lian Wanzhen’s mind imdiately.

When he returned ho, he didn’t seem as cheerful as usual.

He had had aspirations to join the military since his teenage years. Su Ran had promised to let him go when he turned eighteen.

For that reason, Lian Wanzhen endured dizziness to study battle formation charts and military tactics, acquiring many skills, but subsequent family changes left them unused.

However, all these years, his ambition had never changed; it was just the need to support his family that had kept it suppressed.

He didn’t feel tornted when not ntioning it, but once soone brought it up, Lian Wanzhen could not let it go.

Yin Luoyang was the first to notice his preoccupation and inquired about it. Lian Wanzhen, not one to hide things, explained the situation.

Lian Wanzhen, though rugged, had a delicate touch when caring for others. Yin Luoyang was ticulous and considerate in all matters. Since their marriage, they lived harmoniously and lovingly.

The Lian Family mbers were all amiable, supporting one another without much drama like other families, making Yin Luoyang feel at ease. She was dutiful to her in-laws, who cherished her as the new daughter-in-law, and the family lived harmoniously.

After explaining the situation, Lian Wanzhen carefully supported Yin Luoyang by the waist, shaking his head: “Wife, you are now with child. I was rely considering it and won’t go.”
