"...Ti’s running."
Hearing that, the other n looked at the guy who had agreed to Penny’s requests. The latter drew a deep breath and looked back at them, his lips drawn into a thin line. But before he could answer, his eyes drifted to where Shawn was standing.
Shawn maintained a safe distance from them, slightly cautious. When he t the man’s eyes, a shallow breath slipped past his nostrils.
"We are also in a hurry," he said. "But this is no waste of ti."
"I’ll finish this quick," Penny said without looking in their direction, stitching Hugo’s wound first. "Besides, I’m waiting for my brother to call once he’s inside. He’s going to call soon."
Penny then paused mid-stitch and lifted her sharp eyes to where Mint was. "Shawn, check Mint’s pockets. She surely has a radio with her... unless you guys threw it away."
"No," one of the n answered. "We checked, and she doesn’t have one."
"Shawn," Penny called, eyes on the man while talking to Shawn. "Check again. I’m sure she hid so with her."
With that, Shawn marched forward to where Mint was lying down. He checked all her pockets and shoes, but found nothing.
"Miss Penny, there’s nothing here."
"Check her underwear."
Shawn paused as he gazed in Penny’s direction, only to see her still busy working on Hugo’s injury. He didn’t say anything and lowered his head, excusing himself to the unconscious Mint to lift her shirt and check inside her clothes.
Nothing.
A shallow breath escaped him after checking for anything, but there was none. He shot Penny another look, at the sa ti that Penny peeked up at him.
Penny huffed and said nothing, finishing Hugo’s stitches first, quietly.
As she did, Shawn looked at the n who had captured Mint. But before he could say anything, one of the n had already answered,
"We found nothing on her," said the man. "If we did, we would’ve kept it, or at least stolen it from Nathalie’s n."
Shawn didn’t answer, just studying the people quietly. It didn’t seem they were lying. Besides, there was no point for them to lie since these guys would need a telecom if an alliance was what they wanted. Using Mint’s telecoms would make things easier for them.
A few more minutes later, Penny finally spoke.
"Shawn, there are a few bags of blood in that small fridge over there," she said while taking off her bloody rubber gloves. "Get one—never mind, I’ll do it."
With that, Penny marched toward the said blood bag storage while dumping the rubber gloves in the bin. Penny searched for her brother’s blood type, and as she expected, this place was complete with anything they’d need. Considering this island was the Shadow Order’s turf, they’d surely have even the rarest blood type lying around in their underground facilities.
Penny didn’t waste a second and took the necessary blood bag and materials needed. Her brother had lost quite a bit of blood, and she needed to replace it. Once she was done, Penny faced everyone with a slightly blank expression.
"Tch," she clicked her tongue as she removed the new set of gloves and tossed them in the bin.
As she walked back to them, she uttered, "When I said check everything, you check everything." She stopped on the side of the bed where Mint lay, her eyes on Shawn, who was standing across from her.
"Miss Penny, I did check even under her—" The rest of his words halted when Penny suddenly reached for Mint’s face, her hands on Mint’s forehead and chin.
She then pulled Mint’s chin down, revealing a small device between her teeth. Seeing this, Shawn’s eyes widened while the n furrowed their brows.
’Since when did she have that in her mouth?’ the mbers of the Shadow Order wondered, casting a glance at the one who had saved Mint. However, the guy’s brows were knitted, displaying his lack of an idea about it.
’When did she hide it? When she fell?’
As for Shawn, he watched as Penny pulled out a small string, a small earpiece, and a device, all attached to each other.
"It’s a surprise that her mouth hadn’t opened while unconscious," Penny resud, placing the device on the vacant side of Mint to wipe and work with it. "Maybe it was Mint’s subconscious, or maybe it’s just luck. Either way, she’s not the type to fall without a plan."
Or, in better terms, even if Mint fell, she wouldn’t take her people with her. By that, she wouldn’t let others get hold of her telecom, knowing sothing as simple as this would jeopardize the entire operation.
"She’s been dreaming about this day to co," Penny muttered. "She’s not going to be the one to ruin it all."
Just as Penny said those words, she felt sothing vibrate from her pocket. She touched her back pocket and took out a small communication device that looked like a mini-phone she got from the underground parking where they got their car. Slater also got one, and Shawn did too.
Beep... beep...
Penny checked it and read the short ssage. After reading it, her brows rose as she snapped her eyes up at everyone. All of them were looking at her with a mix of curiosity and alertness.
"My brother got into the mansion," she said coldly. "Things are bad in there, just as everyone expected."
Beep... beep...
Penny paused as she checked the next ssage from Slater. Once she finished reading it, she looked at Shawn once again.
"He’s fine... so far," she said, and then shot the n a look. Before she spoke, she tossed the device to them.
The man who had brought up the alliance caught it mid-air, confused.
"Tell him what you need him to do in there," she said, and then crooked a finger at them. "Any of you can help fix this thing? It seems she cut the wire with her teeth. If you guys want this alliance, we’ll need our entire forces."
She then gazed down at the device, her expression dark as if she was slowly sobering up with all that had happened. But one thing stuck in her head that seed strange.
Nathalie seed to have seen all of this coming.
’Could it be... she’s just like all of us as well?’
