After telling the plan to Alfred, both of them moved.
Turning into a streak of darkness using Umbral Draft, John made a straight beeline while Alfred went up high in the air.
Panther swiped his claw at John, but John, in his shadow streak, dodged easily before manifesting behind it, a very dangerous spot where this monster's fad tail could destroy him.
But that was also its weak spot and Alfred was all but ready to support John.
While in the air ten ters off the ground, it issued Malefic Roar at the Panther before it could lay its tail on John, forcefully disrupting its mind and forcing it to look up in alarm.
And that was enough for John to make his move.
'Blood Claws!'

John swiped his right arm while exerting his full strength.
A glint of red claw-shaped shone past the Panther's tail, cutting it off!
Vine-Punch Panther issued a loud throat-crushing growl as it furious swiped its claws at John, but John was ready for a reaction due to his action and quickly dodged by jumping back.
The Panther dashed at him, but John just grinned at it, "You're dead."
"Awoo!"
While falling, Alfred swiped both of its frontal legs, using the new skill Crimson Swipe as a ter long three claw-shaped projectiles shot the Panther.

The Panther stumbled as it bled profusely, and John didn't give it any more chance before he smashed his clawed hand down on the Panther's head with Blood Claws skill activated.
An image flashed past his mind, the sa way he smashed his bat into one of the young n's heads who killed Alfred.
The Panther twitched briefly before it lay motionless. John pulled up his hand and whipped his arm at the side to rid off struck flesh in his hand.
"Awooo!"
A cheerful short howl and a bark resounding as Alfred ca running to him and rubbed his head on John's legs.
"Good job, buddy."
John smiled and began extracting the Soul Core of the Vine-Punch Panther.

Just as John ford the Soul Core, a few more growling sounds ca, low and calm.
John and Alfred quickly beca alert and turned around.

Twenty ters away from where the trees and bushes began, they saw movents on the field.

John quickly gave the Soul Core to Alfred as the hound started absorbing and glowing.

John's heartbeat stabilized as his pupils enlarged, observing the rustles in the bushes.

Suddenly, a shadow jumped out of the bushes, straight at John while swiping its burning claws with a mouth that smoldered with flas.
It was an Embermaw Hyena, except that it had green flas that had a withering effect.
But John remained calm and aid for its tail while moving ahead to dodge its claw swipe.

John succeeded in dodging and grabbed its tail before veins all over his body slightly protruded as he exerted his strength and gripped tightly.
The Hyena briefly froze midair before it was yanked back and smashed into the second Hyena that erged from the bush with its mouth open and was ready to fire a green-fla orb.
Alas, the crash caused a small blast on the Hyena John threw as it was injured.
Taking a deep breath, John looked at the third Hyena that paused its movent after seeing John's actions and growled, but didn't dash at John.
While eyeing John, it moved towards the other two Hyenas. The one that John threw lay injured with its flesh rotting while the other one licked the wounds, trying to heal it.
The third Hyena stood in front of those two, its eyes on John.
Alfred was also done absorbing. It grew a bit but didn't reach Adult-stage. However, it fully recovered and increased its Soul Core by 14, reaching a total of 78.
"Grr...."
Alfred growled, ready to pounce on them.
But John stopped him.
'No, buddy. We don't need to fight them.'
By stopping Alfred, John communicated with the Hyena's leader without words.
Knowing John's intention, the Hyena leader called off the hunt as it grunted at the other two.
The trio left.
"If we fight all the ti, we'll soon die," John chuckled as he rubbed Alfred's head. "Co on, let's get so water and food from this area before moving. Since Hyena left us alone, we won't have to worry about others targeting us in this small area for now."
John knew the monsters' behavior and he figured this certain area belonged to these Hyenas and that they must have been following that Panther to hunt him.
Vine-Punch Panthers, especially the ones at Pri-stage, were top predators, but they hunted alone while Hyenas, the second predators, hunted in groups.
They were weaker, but in the group, they could defeat the Vine-Punch Panthers with so losses or no losses, depending on how their leader led them.
So now was not the ti to entangle with a pack.
John and Alfred freshened up at the river with its fresh sweet water.
Students weren't allowed to bring anything, so everyone had to make things on their own.
John also created a wooden water container the size of a barrel by cutting a relatively large tree. It was easy with Alfred's claws powered with Blood Claw skill.
After making the container and installing a carrier chanism using a tough vine, he carried it behind his back and marched into the Verdant Canopy Area, towards the north.

Two hours later, only two kiloters remained before they reached their destination.
Alfred and John just killed two Glass-Horned Rabbits who were like little sneaky assassins, and Alfred also reached the peak in the Adult-stage.
