“Earl Carter… Earl Carter… Yes, that’s a very familiar na.” Suddenly, she seed to recall sothing and said, “Are you one of Arnold Johnson’s friends who spoke on his behalf at my sister’s engagent ceremony?”
“Yes,” Earl Carter answered, not expecting that the young lady would rember him.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn Garcia quickly asked, “Then tell quickly, is everything that Chloe Johnson said about my sister true?”
Seeing her so urgent, Earl Carter didn’t know whether to tell her the truth or a lie.
“I beg you, please tell !” Evelyn Garcia pleaded with teary eyes.
What Earl Carter couldn’t stand the most was the sound of a woman pleading, especially one as gentle and vulnerable as the small rabbit type.
“Half true, half false,” Earl Carter said, not knowing what Chloe Johnson had said exactly, but sure that it had been painted in the worst light.
Evelyn Garcia asked directly about the specifics, “How is my sister now? Is her child still there? And when can she be released?”
A barrage of questions, asked with both urgency and speed.
Earl Carter patiently answered one by one, “She should be fine now, and the child should be there too. As to when she can be released, I can’t guarantee that, but our people are doing everything we can to rescue her. After all, she is our elder sister-in-law, and she’s carrying Brother Johnson’s child. We will definitely go all out to prevent anything from happening to her.”
