Chapter 1708: Chapter 1488 Yin Si’s Shock

“Damn it, even NPCs have learned to lie now! Just wait till I run into him again soday!”

Su Ran’s eyes were sore from examining the chest and key, yet he couldn’t find anything special about them. The style, dinsions, even the texture were all identical, as if cast from the sa mold. After fiddling with it for ages, he finally realized he’d been played by the NPC.

“Sigh, the world keeps getting worse, and people are becoming less trustworthy!”

Su Ran let out a heavy sigh. The bubbling excitent in his heart vanished without a trace, bursting like a bubble.

Faced with the situation, Su Ran no longer hesitated. He shoved the silver key directly into the lock, trying to open the silver chest. But to his surprise, a system notification chid before anything else happened.

“Ding! The silver chest is still sealed and cannot be opened.”

“Huh?”

Su Ran froze at the sound, then his face filled with pure joy. Hugging the chest to his chest, he laughed like a fool, “Hahaha, so that’s the trick! I knew it, an NPC wouldn’t actually lie to !”

“Ahem.”

A sudden cough sounded behind Su Ran, but he was too caught up in laughter to notice, completely ignoring it.

“Ahem, ahem, ahem.”

After several rounds of coughing failed to gain his attention, the person behind had no choice but to extend their hand and pat Su Ran’s back.

“Who’s there?!”

Startled, Su Ran jumped to the side and whipped his head around. Only then did he see that the sly rchant Yin Si had sohow appeared behind him.

“Lord Yin Si, could you at least give a heads-up when you show up? Popping out of nowhere like that is going to give a heart attack one day!”

Su Ran complained irritably, his tone dripping with grievance. He had dealt with this cunning rchant nurous tis before, and nearly every ti Yin Si managed to scare the crap out of him. “Shouldn’t you be nicely tucked into your coffin? Why are you roaming around again?”

“Little Skeleton, don’t tell I didn’t give you a warning earlier. I almost coughed up my windpipe just now, and you still didn’t hear ! Maybe you should grab a stick and clear the cobwebs out of your earholes!”

Yin Si’s face was slightly dark. “You think I don’t want to rest? It’s all thanks to your little antics!”

“What the hell? I haven’t even been around the territory lately. What could I have possibly done? Did I knock on your door? Did I smash your windows?”

Su Ran wasn’t having it. “Lord Yin Si, you can ss around with food, but you can’t ss around with accusations. This is slander!”

“Heh, slander, is it? Let ask you… those few elves, didn’t you bring them into the territory?”

Yin Si’s chilly gaze bored into Su Ran. “In just half a day, they’ve already made countless trips to the Heaven and Earth Bank. How am I supposed to rest?”

“Oh, so that’s what this is about. But hey, only by doing this can we boost economic activity! This is a good thing for you, isn’t it?”

It finally hit Su Ran. The appearance of Banana and the others had disrupted the peaceful atmosphere of the territory, making it impossible for Yin Si to sleep soundly. But as a rchant, having business co to him should be exactly what Yin Si wanted. Especially with the lucrative profits from currency exchanges, who could complain?

“Heh heh, you’re not wrong. Actually, I’m here to tell you: our territory’s transient population is still too small. Try to bring in more people. Only with more traffic can we achieve economic growth, and our Underworld Coins will truly dominate!”

Yin Si grinned slyly. “Don’t worry about my sleep quality. As long as there are more custors spending money, I could go a whole month without sleeping just fine!”

Su Ran was speechless. Judging by that sleazy expression on Yin Si’s face, it was obvious he’d been fleecing Banana and the others for quite so ti. But there wasn’t much Su Ran could do about it—after all, the Heaven and Earth Bank was the only one in the territory, with no competition. Currency exchange services were exclusive to this one bank, and with Yin Si’s greedy nature, making a fortune was pretty much guaranteed!

“Fine, fine. I’ll rember that. If I run into anyone suitable, I’ll bring them to the territory,”

Su Ran replied casually, clearly not taking it seriously. In all likelihood, he’d forget about it in a matter of minutes. Then, shifting the topic, he added, “Oh right, Lord Yin Si, have you seen those elves? Where did they go?”

“Oh, I sent them out on a task to gather materials for . They should be back soon,”

Yin Si responded nonchalantly, then added a reminder, “By the way, when you’re recruiting, prioritize those who can actually boost our economy. Don’t just bring in any old riff-raff.”

“A hidden task? Damn it, Lord Yin Si, that’s too unfair! Why didn’t you save that task for ?”

Su Ran imdiately started complaining. He’d seen unfairness before, but this was on another level. Seeing each other every day and still withholding tasks—what kind of treatnt was that? This was unacceptable!

“We’re too close—can’t bring myself to scam you,”

“…”

Su Ran instantly shut his mouth, all his grumbling miraculously disappearing.

“Little Skeleton, those elves you brought in—where did you find them? Why did they all collectively betray the Elven faction? Don’t tell sothing happened to the Elves?”

Yin Si’s eyes filled with suspicion. After all, for any non-Demon faction being to join the Demon World’s territory, they’d first have to betray their own kind. This was the case for the Human Race’s Architectural Grandmaster Lu Yue, the demon Goudan, and the exiled Ghost King Drought Fiend. But seeing an entire group of elves betray their faction? That was unheard of!

Could the Skeleton Lord really have such overwhelming charm?

“Simple. I ford a life-and-death alliance with the Elven faction. We sink or swim together!”

“What?!”

Yin Si froze as if struck by lightning, completely stunned. He asked incredulously, “An entire Elven faction forming an alliance with your ager little territory? Are you kidding ?! If what you’re saying is true, then not only is the Elven Queen insane, but she’s absolutely, certifiably nuts!”

“Hey, don’t belittle our territory, alright? Sure, it’s not much now, but it has huge potential. The Elven Queen saw that potential, and that’s why she allied with us!”

Afraid Yin Si wouldn’t believe him, Su Ran proudly pulled out his Diplomatic Envoy title as proof. This alone was enough to substantiate the authenticity of the alliance.

“Little Skeleton, I didn’t think you’d silently pull off such a huge feat. Even the Demon Sovereign couldn’t manage such a thing, and yet you made it happen!”

Yin Si’s hollow eye sockets were filled with awe. After a long pause, he finally sighed, “Truly, youth produces miracles. I bow to your greatness!”

Su Ran couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitent. Earning Yin Si’s admiration was no small feat, and to think he’d actually managed it—it really wasn’t an ordinary accomplishnt!

Reflecting on this, even Su Ran started admiring himself. His heart swelled with a sense of achievent.

“Little Skeleton, earlier I heard you laughing like an idiot. Did you co across so good treasure?”

After processing the shocking revelation, Yin Si’s gaze turned toward the chest in Su Ran’s arms, his curiosity piqued. “That chest doesn’t look ordinary, does it?”
