Chapter 1707: Chapter 1487: A Blessing in Disguise (Two in One)_2

The Fire Spirit exuded an aura of righteousness, even his gaze brimd with unwavering determination. He spoke again, “This silver key is rely a facade; peel away this exterior, and you’ll see its true form.”

“Senior, no need to be so cryptic. Just tell directly how to restore it to its original state.”

Su Ran instantly perked up. He had initially thought this was just a special silver key, but unexpectedly, there was more to it than t the eye!

Hidden so deeply?

By this logic, the silver treasure chest must also be a facade. Clearly, this chest is leagues beyond a re golden treasure chest!

What a lucky fluke, stumbling onto an extraordinary treasure chest! This is too satisfying!

No wonder those two stone monster bosses only dropped a treasure map and a chest. He had thought they were junk, but now he realized he had misunderstood them.

“Such secrets cannot be revealed. When the ti cos, everything will fall into place.”

The Fire Spirit’s face turned irritated, flas flickering in his eyes as he suppressed his anger. In a low voice, he declared, “Human, you are testing my patience. To have disclosed even this much to you is already generous. Leave imdiately. Next ti we et, don’t bla for being rciless!”

“Woosh!”

The silver key was flung out like a dart. Luckily, it wasn’t thrown with great force, and Su Ran easily caught it. He instinctively turned it over, but still found nothing remarkable. It looked just like a regular key. All this enigmatic talk—was it just to ss with his mind?

No way. An NPC couldn’t possibly be this conniving. Clearly, he hadn’t yet understood its hidden chanism.

Su Ran decided it was better to believe than dismiss the possibility. He was determined to uncover the silver key’s true significance and strip away its deceptive facade!

“Senior, before I leave, I wish you success in defeating the Human Emperor and achieving your goals!”

Su Ran waved at the Fire Spirit. There was nothing holding him here any longer. He prepared to use a Teleportation Scroll, returning to his territory and taking ti there to investigate the silver key’s secrets.

“Success, huh? Tch, nice choice of words. What I truly wish for is a legitimate reason to kill you. So how about granting that wish? Let destroy you to ease my hatred toward the Human Race.”

“Goodbye, Senior!”

Su Ran didn’t dare linger. He tore the Teleportation Scroll on the spot, escaping from the space.

As soon as Su Ran vanished, the Fire Spirit collapsed to the ground like a deflated balloon, completely drained of energy.

“Senior, what’s wrong with you?”

Qing Qi was startled and quickly bent down to help him. But to her shock, the Fire Spirit now seed like a puddle of sludge, impossible to lift.

“Save your effort. This Demon World curse has bound for years, breaking several of my bones. Just now, I was hanging on by a thread, nearly embarrassing myself in front of that human. Thankfully, at least I didn’t disgrace the Elf Race.”

The Fire Spirit chuckled bitterly and showed Qing Qi his wrist.

“Hiss…”

Qing Qi gasped sharply. The deep crimson scars on his wrist made it clear that chains had embedded themselves into his flesh. If even his bones had been crushed—just how much tornt had he endured?

It was no wonder this NPC bore such hatred toward humans. Now, Qing Qi understood fully.

Feeling a pang of sympathy, Qing Qi gently tugged his sleeve down to conceal the scars and fished out several vials of potion, asking anxiously, “Senior, these potions should replenish your lost vitality and ease your physical pain.”

“Gulp, gulp.”

After drinking several potions in succession, a hint of color returned to Se Rong’s pale face. “Young Elf, tell about the current state of the Elf Race. How is the Elf Queen faring?”

“Uh…”

The Fire Spirit’s question left Qing Qi montarily speechless. Hesitantly, she replied, “Senior, would you believe if I said I’ve never been to the Elf Forest?”

“A wild elf? No wonder you’ve been fraternizing with humans. To have lasted this long without falling prey to their sches—remarkable.”

The Fire Spirit was intrigued by Qing Qi’s identity. “Return to the Elf Forest. That is your true ho.”

“Senior, I do have a Town Recall Scroll, but unfortunately, there’s only one and I can’t share it with you.”

“No need. Not until I’ve exacted my revenge will I return.”

The more the Fire Spirit observed Qing Qi, the more pleasing she seed to his eyes—perhaps due to the affinity of elf blood. Using a gentle tone, he said, “Young Elf, our encounter here is destined. Take this Elf Inheritance Stone. Given the elf lineage flowing within you, you should be able to receive its legacy. By the way, if you’ve previously inherited a legacy, this stone won’t activate.”

“Elf Inheritance Stone!”

Qing Qi nearly jumped for joy. She knew all too well that her previous chance at inheritance was thanks to another such stone. However, that one had only been the size of a fist, while this one was more than three tis larger!

Not to ntion, its quality was far superior to the last!

At this mont, Qing Qi breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Her failed inheritance attempt had unexpectedly turned out to be a blessing!

“Losing a horse might not be a bad thing after all,” she thought, encapsulating the concept perfectly.

“Thank you for your favor, Senior. I’ll begin the inheritance imdiately. I won’t disappoint you!”

Suppressing her excitent, Qing Qi activated the Elf Inheritance Stone right in front of the Fire Spirit.

This was a rare opportunity that she couldn’t afford to miss!

The most crucial factor was that this area remained undisturbed by other players, making it an ideal setting for receiving the inheritance. As for Su Ran’s silver treasure chest, she had completely forgotten about it.

No matter how exceptional the treasure chest might be, it couldn’t compare to a piece of Elf Inheritance Stone!

“I’m relieved this inheritance stone hasn’t gone to waste.”

Seeing the purple aura envelop Qing Qi, Se Rong felt deeply gratified. Having fulfilled his duty to pass on this legacy, he had no lingering regrets. Without waiting for Qing Qi to complete her inheritance, he transford into a ray of white light and vanished from the space. Where he went, nobody knew.

Qing Qi was at the critical mont of inheriting the stone’s legacy and was entirely focused. She didn’t even notice Se Rong’s departure, much less any surrounding anomalies. At this point, her resolve to gain the inheritance was so strong that nothing, not even the taphorical collapse of the sky, could deter her. This unwavering mindset significantly increased her chances of success.

“Shwoosh!”

Su Ran materialized in his territory, Skeleton Village. Scanning the area, he found it in its usual state—lifeless and bleak. He had no idea where Banana and the others had gone. The possibilities were narrow: either they were out leveling up or digging graves halfway up the mountain, scraping up Underworld Coins.

Though the latter possibility was almost nonexistent.

“I’m about to open a special treasure chest. Too bad you guys don’t have the privilege to witness this!”

Su Ran smirked and, without hesitation, retrieved the matching key and chest. His eyes sparkled with anticipation. He truly hoped to uncover its secrets and reveal the treasures hidden within!

“Oh, right, I should explain to Qing Qi before she starts thinking I ran off with her funds.”

Fiddling with the silver key, Su Ran sent Qing Qi a ssage. To his surprise, she didn’t respond at all. Could she be in danger?

Unlikely. The Fire Spirit Se Rong and Qing Qi were both from the Elf Race. As the saying goes, when compatriots et, emotions run deep. There was no way this would end in conflict.

Even Grandma Qiong wouldn’t dare write such a scenario!

“Whatever. We’ll connect eventually. For now, the priority is opening this chest. Any delays might lead to complications—that wouldn’t be good!”

Su Ran brushed aside distracting thoughts, focusing entirely on the task. He turned the key over repeatedly, scrutinizing it closely. But even with his eyes wide open, he couldn’t discern anything unusual. This frustrated him imnsely. Unyielding, he shifted his attention to the silver treasure chest instead. Perhaps the chest held the key to unraveling the mystery. Once he pinpointed the chest’s intricacy, the key would naturally follow.

Unfortunately, gas don’t follow a scripted path. After scrutinizing the chest for three minutes, he still couldn’t uncover anything special about it.

“Ugh, could it really have been a scam?”

Su Ran felt thoroughly exasperated. He was completely out of ideas—utterly defeated by the pair of items.
