Chapter 1652: Chapter 1453: Life Vein in Danger (Combined 2 in 1)_2
“Don’t see through it and spill the beans, got it?”
Su Ran shook his head with an amused look, heading toward the wooded area halfway up the mountain. “Hurry up, don’t let Luta wait too long—ti waits for no one, and he certainly won’t wait for us!”
“Big bro, why are you heading in Ling Wei’s direction too? Don’t tell you’re planning to kick her while she’s down.”
“Shut up! If you don’t know how to talk properly, just zip it. Do I look like that kind of person?”
Su Ran shot Bananas an annoyed glare. “If Ling Wei is in danger, I’d rescue her all the sa! I’m the kind of guy who’s magnanimous, doesn’t hold grudges, and will eventually turn that Fire Spirit around with my actions!”
“Big bro, why do I have this feeling you’re completely full of it?”
“Ridiculous!”
Su Ran waved his hand dismissively and was just about to keep walking when Ling Wei’s urgent cries for help ca from the distance. Judging from her panicked voice, the situation looked pretty grim.
“Heh, looks like trouble really found her? Let’s go, ti to check it out!”
Ignoring Bananas, Su Ran dove into the woods, rushing towards the source of the cries.
“…”
Bananas was left speechless. With a big bro like this, he didn’t even feel motivated to snark back. You couldn’t use logic to figure him out—saying one thing and doing the opposite was practically second nature to Su Ran!
…
Xue Wuqing had a bird’s-eye view of the area and imdiately noticed that Ling Wei was in danger. She flew straight toward her, navigating through clusters of trees, and finally saw what was going on: Ling Wei was trapped within a crack in a large rock, tightly wedged inside. Nearby, a hulking giant was hamring at the rock, seemingly trying to shove it—and Ling Wei—further into the rocky depths.
“This is bad!”
Alard but keeping her composure, Xue Wuqing pulled out her Ice Spear and charged at the giant. At the sa ti, she summoned her trusty Golden Pet—the Snowman King—intending to use it as a temporary distraction while she worked to rescue Ling Wei.
But the mont the giant stood up and locked eyes with Xue Wuqing, her face paled. She instantly recognized it—this wasn’t just any random boss. It was the Black Abyss Lake Guardian!
One of the forbidden bosses of the Elf Forest, this fearso creature bore an aura of terror. No one dared provoke it; even travelers who encountered Black Abyss Lake would go out of their way to avoid crossing paths. Facing this Guardian head-on was simply unthinkable…
Ling Wei, what a troublemaking little nightmare you’ve turned out to be!
“Sister Wuqing, save , please! I know I ssed up and I’ll never do it again!”
As soon as Ling Wei saw Xue Wuqing, she cried out anxiously, her voice trembling with sobs. It seed the Guardian had frightened her half to death; she stayed motionless, too scared to even squirm despite how uncomfortable she was in the rock crevice.
“Don’t be afraid! Just hang in there!”
Xue Wuqing lunged with her Ice Spear. The frosty weapon shot out like an arrow, aiming for the Guardian’s head. But she didn’t stop there—she simultaneously issued commands to the Snowman King, directing it to attack the giant’s legs. She hoped to distract the creature enough to free Ling Wei.
Unfortunately, she had underestimated the Guardian’s strength. Just when it seed she was gaining montum, the giant suddenly moved.
With a single hand, the Guardian grabbed the Snowman King. Letting out an enraged roar, it hurled the snowman into the air, slamming it directly onto Pegasus. This sent Xue Wuqing hurtling toward the ground, crashing into the forest and breaking several tree branches on the way down.
“Sister Wuqing!”
Ling Wei, worried for Xue Wuqing’s safety, began to struggle violently. However, she was lodged too tightly to free herself. No matter how hard she wriggled, she couldn’t even lift her arms. She grew so anxious that she felt like her entire body was on fire, but it was all in vain—there was no escaping.
Her impulsiveness had led Sister Wuqing into mortal peril, and there was a high chance she’d lose her life here. Ling Wei was filled with regret. Waves of guilt surged through her heart, leaving her overwheld with an unbearable feeling of remorse.
Xue Wuqing, however, wasn’t about to just lie down and accept defeat. Before the Guardian’s next attack landed, she scrambled to her feet and began darting through the forest, using the trunks of trees as cover to evade its assaults. She wasn’t just escaping, though—she launched counterattacks to keep the boss’s aggression focused on herself, buying Ling Wei precious ti.
“Hmph!”
Infuriated by this brazen female elf, the Guardian let out a wrathful roar. It uprooted a massive tree effortlessly, flinging it toward Xue Wuqing. Its raw strength was so overwhelming that the tree smashed through several others on impact, leaving the entire scene in chaos.
At this critical mont, Su Ran and Bananas finally arrived, taking in the chaotic sight before them. The mont they laid eyes on the boss, both of them froze in astonishnt.
“Holy crap, turns out the Black Abyss Lake Guardian got demoted to this Lifeline Space!”
“Big bro! No wonder I couldn’t find this beast in the Elf Forest—it was stashed here all along! I swear, the Elf Queen is sothing else. Of all the places to put it, she just had to choose this one. She’s deliberately trying to screw us over, isn’t she?”
Bananas grew increasingly indignant as he vented his frustrations about the Elf Queen, seeking an outlet for his pent-up irritation.
“Stop whining and look—Wu Qing’s being chased for her life! Get moving and split the aggro!”
Su Ran cast a glance at Ling Wei, still lodged in the rock crevice, and unceremoniously decided to ignore her. Instead, he leaped into the air and launched a barrage of fireballs at the Guardian.
Bananas, anwhile, pulled out his prized Golden Crossbow and activated precision-shot mode. Arrows rained down in rapid succession, weaving through the air alongside Su Ran’s fireballs in a synchronized assault.
“Rawr!”
The Guardian, pelted by the relentless bombardnt, let out a series of furious roars. Driven to its limit, it entered a berserk state, stomping through the forest like a rampaging bull. The surrounding trees paid the price, with branches, leaves, and even entire trunks crashing to the ground. The noise of destruction echoed endlessly.
“Don’t worry about ! Just go save Little Wei!”
Xue Wuqing kept the Guardian locked onto her, dodging its furious attacks with great effort. As Su Ran and Bananas alternated their bombardnts, she took advantage of the mont to activate her Ice Prison spell.
She knew well that the Ice Prison wouldn’t hold the boss for long. But that was never her intention. Her goal was simply to create an opening to rescue Ling Wei!
“Overturning Water, you hold off the boss. I’ll go get Little Wei out!”
Bananas had already grasped the urgency of the situation. He put away his Golden Crossbow and dashed toward the rock. But less than two minutes later, he sheepishly returned, calling out to Su Ran awkwardly, “Overturning Water, this rock is seriously weird! I can’t budge it an inch—you’d better try!”
“Fine, just be careful,” Su Ran replied, summoning ten mage skeletons to assist in distracting the Guardian. His plan was to shift as much aggro as possible onto the skeletons—rescuing Ling Wei would be pointless if they lost Xue Wuqing in the process.
“Creepy Skull, what are you doing here? Here to laugh at , huh?”
When Ling Wei saw Su Ran approaching, her expression grew tense, and she snapped irritably, “If you want to laugh, just laugh already. It’s my fault, okay? Not like it has anything to do with you. Once you’re done laughing, hurry up and help Sister Wuqing!”
“How do you know I ca here to laugh at you?”
To Su Ran’s surprise, the Fire Spirit seed much less temperantal than usual. Typically, she’d resort to sharp-tongued insults at the drop of a hat. This newfound restraint intrigued him—perhaps her recent blunders had forced her to reflect and change.
“Hurry up and get out of here already! Sister Wuqing can’t hold out much longer!”
Ling Wei, exasperated, waved off the banter. She squird and pleaded for Su Ran to act faster.
“Fine, I’ll give you a hand—for the sake of the alliance.”
Su Ran pulled out a beginner’s pickaxe and swung it dramatically in the air. The exaggerated gesture made Ling Wei’s face go pale.
“What are you doing?! Just pull out! There’s no need to dig up—I can’t endure even two strikes with that thing!”
Ling Wei, completely unprepared for such treatnt, scread shrilly, trying to discourage Su Ran from carrying out his obviously absurd plan.
“Shut up!”
Su Ran’s head was pounding from her incessant wailing, and his patience was wearing thin. “Dig you out? How bold of you to assu. I’m digging the rock!”
“Clang!”
To prove his point, Su Ran brought the pickaxe down forcefully on the rock.
But then.
Sothing unexpected happened—the rock didn’t budge an inch. Instead, the pickaxe rebounded with such force that it flew from his grip. For soone like Su Ran, with a Level 8 mining skill, this was nothing short of humiliating. It was an affront to his entire profession!
“Damn it, let’s try that again!”
Unwilling to give up, Su Ran swung the pickaxe a second ti. But the result was identical to the first: he was sent staggering back, his hands numb from the impact. Su Ran was forced to accept that the pickaxe just wasn’t going to cut it. Reluctantly, he abandoned the idea as futile.
“Forget about ! Go help Sister Wuqing!”
