Chapter 201: Reiner Only Knows How to Trash Talk
In the rear of Marineford’s plaza, in the deserted town for Marine families.
Reiner and the others were hiding in a four-story residential building.
The town’s terrain was relatively high, so they only needed to look through the window to observe the movents in the plaza from afar.
After Aokiji froze the sea and Kizaru’s initial probing attack with Yasakani no Magatama was intercepted by Phoenix Marco...
Mihawk also took a step forward, drawing the Supre Grade Sword, the black blade Yoru, from his back and slashing down.
A green flash that cut across the entire battlefield dimd the heavens and the earth.
The Whitebeard Pirates’ third division commander, Diamond Jozu, t it head-on, using his body as a shield to send the world-cleaving slash flying into the sky with his bare hands.
A simple and unadorned, yet brief, exchange that fully displayed the astonishing strength of both sides.
"So the gap between and him is still that large," Zoro mused, his gaze deep in thought.
Unlike when he was a fledgling swordsman in the East Blue, at that ti, he only knew that the other’s strength was unfathomable.
Now, having co all this way and grown into a famous and powerful swordsman on the Grand Line, he could truly see how big the gap between them was.
"What, scared now?"
Reiner’s lips curled into a smile. "I rember you were yelling quite arrogantly back then. A frog in a well, croak croak croak."
"Pfft!" Thinking of that scene, Nami and Usopp couldn’t help but stifle a laugh.
Sanji even took a fruit knife to imitate Mihawk, pointing at Zoro with a contemptuous look. "I didn’t bring a smaller knife than this."
"Puhahaha!!"
Thump! Thump! Thump!
This scene made Reiner and the others slap the table and roar with laughter.
Zoro’s courage was admirable, but that didn’t stop them from using it for a bit of fun.
"I’ll cut you bastards down sooner or later," Zoro gritted his teeth and turned his head back, so angry that the veins on the back of the hand gripping his sword hilt bulged.
The relaxed atmosphere in this small room was a stark contrast to the tense gravity of the battlefield outside.
This made Jinbe unable to understand. "We’ll be on the verge of life and death the mont we step onto the battlefield later. How can you all be so relaxed? Aren’t you nervous at all?"
"Of course I’m nervous."
Nami didn’t hide her inner anxiety at all, confessing, "I should say, I’m actually already scared to death."
The scene on the battlefield outside was like the end of the world. Just thinking about facing those enemies later made her palms sweat.
No one wasn’t nervous. Luffy was also dying to rush out and save Ace imdiately, but he didn’t show it at all.
He knew what he had to do so as not to let everyone’s efforts go to waste.
"Relax, Jinbe."
Luffy looked up and patted his large belly, smiling. "It’s no use for us to worry here. Let’s trust in Reiner and Sanji’s plan, and then just give it our all when we fight later."
"—Phew. You’re right."
Jinbe took a deep breath to calm himself. As the eldest person here (Brook: Actually, it’s , yohohoho~~), he didn’t expect to be comforted by Luffy. He couldn’t help but feel ashad.
"It was I who was too impatient. Let’s continue to wait for our chance."
"Mm."
The group turned their heads again to look at the battlefield. The entire crescent-shaped bay had been frozen solid by Aokiji.
Following the initial few probing exchanges, the pirate fleet under Whitebeard’s command had already jumped onto the ice.
"Charge!!"
"Follow Captain Vista!"
"We’re coming to save you, Ace!"
The commanders on the Moby Dick were the first to charge, leading their respective divisions with swords and guns, launching a fierce assault on the plaza above.
Faced with the ferociously surging pirates, the Marines above the plaza were equally prepared.
"Don’t panic! Continue firing!"
One general after another thodically commanded the batteries to return fire!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A dense line of pitch-black cannonballs streaked across the sky in arcs, smashing down on the fiercely charging pirates below.
"Watch out for the cannonballs!"
"Stay behind us!"
Izo, with heart-shaped lipstick and fair skin, wearing a kimono, frowned. He held dual pistols and aid them at the sky, pulling the triggers.
"Dan-gan Gan!" (Bullet Slash Pills)
Haki was imbued into the bullets. Each bullet carried a spiraling, ring-shaped slash, which exploded violently upon flying into the cannonball cluster.
The commanders leaped up one by one, using their various abilities to intercept the cannonballs and cover their teammates’ advance.
However, the firepower deployed by the Marines could hardly be described as rely "fierce." The pouring cannon fire was like a black rain curtain covering the sky.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Stray cannonballs continuously blasted deep pits in the ice, sending ice fragnts flying and sparks everywhere. Pirates continuously fell on their charge.
No one stopped.
This was war. They had already prepared to make sacrifices.
The pirate fleet continuously fired back, and Marineford’s plaza was also lit up everywhere with flas!
"Don’t let the pirates reach the plaza!"
Sengoku stood straight on the execution platform and shouted, ignoring the beacon fires of war below, his gaze eting Whitebeard’s from afar.
As long as they waited for all of Whitebeard’s pirates to land on the ice and enter the bay, the Marines would imdiately activate the encirclent wall plan and send out the Pacifistas.
They were determined to annihilate Whitebeard’s forces!
"Prepare for close-quarters combat!!"
Hearing Sengoku’s words, all the Vice Admirals below were the first to leap down to the plaza.
"Charge with the Vice Admirals!"
"Charge!!"
"Don’t let the pirates near the plaza!"
"Justice will prevail!"
White capes fluttered loudly. One general after another roared as they charged to et the pirates.
Boom! Boom!
The entire ice surface trembled without end. Sky-blotting figures jumped down heavily from the plaza into the bay, instantly attracting the attention of everyone on both sides.
"It’s the giant Vice Admirals!!"
"You ant-like pirates, don’t even think about getting past us!"
A giant raised a giant axe and, with a furious roar, smashed it down!
The giant axe whistled and crashed onto the ground, instantly creating countless cracks in the ice!
The other giants also exerted their strength, chopping down with greatswords and swinging spiked clubs.
Their giant size made them like war machines, their every move capable of stirring up a fierce wind.
Under the giant soldiers, the pirates continuously suffered casualties!
"We can’t let you guys be so arrogant!"
Bang!
A stout and sturdy figure crashed into the giant Vice Admiral’s stomach like a cannonball. The terrifying force made his feet stumble, and he almost fell.
"Whitebeard’s commanders have made their move!"
Watching the figure with a horned helt and two greatswords land slowly, the surrounding Marines couldn’t help but swallow and take a step back.
Little Oars Jr. snorted. "Don’t you underestimate the Whitebeard Pirates!"
"And don’t you underestimate us Marines!"
Swish!
A figure flew over at high speed, a cold glint flashing as he aid straight for Little Oars Jr.!
Clang!
Three cold blades clashed, violently creating a shower of sparks.
"So it’s Momonga."
Little Oars Jr. grinned sinisterly. "Compared to Vista, your sword is too soft!"
"Heh heh, it’s enough to kill you," Momonga’s eyes darkened, and he withdrew his longsword to slash down again!
The two were locked in continuous combat. The sa fierce battle was playing out all over the battlefield.
This grand war had imdiately entered a white-hot climax from the very first clash!
The situation on the field was taken in by Reiner and the others, who were looking down from the window of the building in the rear town.
"That’s quite an exaggeration."
Franky sighed with emotion. This scene was much more terrifying than the Buster Call at Enies Lobby back then.
"Hmm? Quick, get down."
Suddenly, he seed to have seen sothing. His face showed alarm, and with his two large hands, he imdiately pushed the people beside him down behind the wall.
"Shh!"
Franky made a hushing gesture. Under the puzzled gazes of the others, he whispered frantically, "I think I just saw an Admiral."
Hearing this, the others who had ducked down instantly turned green. Reiner and the others sitting at the table couldn’t help but stand up.
"Which one?"
"What’s he doing here?"
"Have we been discovered?"
The group looked at each other. Franky’s face was uncertain as he pointed in a direction. "I think it was Akainu?"
"Let’s see."
Then, several heads cautiously peeked out from under the window, looking in the direction Franky had pointed.
In the distance, there was indeed a tough-looking man with a resolute face, wearing a standard-issue Marine cap and a red suit, who was currently berating several Marines in a low voice.
"He seems to be catching deserters," Chopper said from the side of the window, with lingering fear.
Beside him, Usopp stood with his legs trembling. "That was scary. I thought we were discovered."
"He’s not here for us?"
Nami’s head popped out from behind Reiner’s shoulder. She sighed in relief and ca out. "So it was a false alarm."
"Look over there! There’s soone talking to Akainu."
Usopp spoke quickly and softly, his face filled with surprise. "That’s one of Whitebeard’s pirates, right?"
Hearing this, Jinbe was the first who couldn’t sit still. He imdiately walked to the window to peek.
At the small window, a crowd of heads squeezed in from the sides and below, looking quite comical.
Long, curly pink hair, a large longsword in hand, and a spider tattoo on his forehead. Seeing the person Usopp ntioned, Jinbe’s brow furrowed tightly.
"That’s Squard. Captain of the Great Maelstrom Spider Pirates, under Pops’s command. Why is he here?"
Squard was soone who had been taken in by Pops a long ti ago. Jinbe had long-standing relations with the Whitebeard Pirates and naturally recognized him at a glance.
Seeing him in private contact with Akainu, all sorts of thoughts imdiately flooded his mind.
"Squard... right!"
Jinbe suddenly thought of sothing and hurriedly turned his head to look at Luffy. "Ace is Roger’s son, right!"
"Ah, what about it?" Luffy looked at him, puzzled.
"Before joining Pops’s crew, the pirate crew Squard was in was... in a challenge against Roger..."
Jinbe paused, then uttered a few words with a grave tone: "Completely wiped out."
Roger and Squard have a blood feud!
"Co back, everyone. Stop looking."
Reiner spoke, calling them back. People could sense when they were being peeked at, even though they were far away.
But since the other party was Akainu, it was better to be safe.
The group also withdrew and gathered around.
"The Marines probably did their research and are preparing to turn him. I’ll find a chance to talk to him later."
Reiner naturally knew the situation. There was no need to peek. Anyway, he couldn’t hear. He looked at the ti and spoke again, "There’s still over an hour until Ace’s execution. It’s ti to prepare for action. I’ll go and put so pressure on the Marines first."
The others on the battlefield were fighting heatedly, but Garp, Sengoku, and Whitebeard had not yet made a move.
Kizaru and Aokiji were being entangled by Marco and Jozu, but those two Admirals were probably just slacking off.
He prepared to send the undead army onto the field to attract so of the Marines’ attention.
Reiner took a step towards the door and waved his hand back. "I’ll leave Ace’s side to you, Zoro, Sanji."
"Mm, you be careful yourself," Sanji said, slowly exhaling a puff of smoke and nodding at him.
Zoro, on the other hand, impatiently raised his hand and waved. "I know, I know. Just take care of yourself."
What a tsundere. Even showing concern is so cold.
"Reiner."
"Hmm?" Reiner turned his head back.
It was Luffy who had called him. He was sitting cross-legged on the table. He extended his arm and offered a fist bump, a corner of his mouth lifting. "Be careful."
"Don’t worry. I cherish my life very much."
Reiner smiled faintly, reached out to Luffy’s fist held in the air, and the two fists touched.
Then ca the third, the fourth, the fifth...
Everyone gathered around to bump fists and offer encouragent.
"Let’s all do our best."
"Why, Pops!"
After Akainu left, Squard, who remained where he was, lowered his head and gritted his teeth tightly.
"Are you really going to trade all of our lives for Ace’s? If it were for Pops, I would be willing to die. But why does it have to be Roger’s son!"
Disappointnt, anger, unwillingness – various emotions continuously swirled in his gaze.
Squard looked at the sword in his hand with a complicated expression. "Let see if the war will develop as Akainu said."
He raised his head.
He turned and left, as if having made so kind of decision.
However, just as he took a step, he saw a blond man in a blue shirt walking towards him. Judging by his attire, he didn’t look like a Marine.
"That face looks a bit familiar. Could he be a pirate under Pops?"
Squard murmured silently. At this ti, anyone appearing in Marineford was either a Marine or a pirate under Pops.
He hadn’t seen the other person before, but there were many people following Pops, and he didn’t know all of them. And he felt he had seen that face sowhere before, so he subconsciously treated him as one of his own.
Squard’s hand unconsciously moved towards the hilt of his sword. He was still sowhat on guard. What is this person doing here instead of on the battlefield?
Could it be that Pops knows he t with Akainu? To continue the deal with the Marines, he sent soone over to...
In that instant, Squard thought of many things. As the saying goes, a clear conscience fears no knock at midnight. And he clearly had a guilty conscience, so he naturally thought of the worst.
"Yo, Filial Piggy."
"Hmm?"
Little Spider?
Squard was clearly stunned for a mont. The person approaching showed no malice, just a warm smile.
Although he didn’t understand why the other called him so affectionately, that gentle appearance still gave him a friendly and approachable feeling. He couldn’t help but open his mouth and ask:
"You are...?"
"Just call Reiner."
Reiner stopped in front of him and preemptively asked, "How’s the situation on the front lines? What are you doing here instead of helping on the battlefield?"
"I... I was just..."
Squard stamred. Hearing the other’s tone, it was indeed soone from their side. This question made him even more guilty.
However, just as his mind was rapidly spinning, trying to co up with an excuse to fool him, suddenly.
Bang!!
A heavy punch suddenly pierced his abdon. Intense pain, accompanied by a wave of nausea, assaulted him. He felt his stomach churn, and bile instantly rose in his throat.
"You—"
Thud!
Squard’s eyes widened, his voice hoarse as he opened his mouth. Just as he was about to speak, a large hand instantly clasped his throat, followed by a heavy headbutt!
Bang!!
Watching Squard, whose eyes had rolled back as he fainted, Reiner took the other’s sword and propped it on the ground, then fiercely stepped on it with one foot!
Buzz, buzz, buzz!!
The blade of the sword bounced and vibrated continuously. It didn’t break. That ans it’s a good sword.
"A Supre Grade Sword, the Filial Son Blade. I’ll take this first."
With this treasured sword, what is there to fear from Whitebeard?
Bang!
Reiner casually threw the other into a nearby house, then turned back to a residential building in the distance, grinning and giving a thumbs-up, revealing a Blue Beast’s smile.
Inside the residential building, Jinbe took half a step back, his mouth agape, speechless. "Wha... didn’t he just say he was going to persuade him?"
"Ah, I forgot to explain to you."
Usopp shrugged and spread his hands helplessly. "Reiner isn’t good at talking to enemies. He only knows how to trash-talk and beat them up. Persuasion could only an this."
"I... I see."
Jinbe was greatly shocked. He seed so kind and friendly usually. So he’s this type of person?
